I think I just destroyed my coworkers' worlds. During a conversation about the many nicknames we grew up with, I mentioned that "Andi" is the one I've gone by the longest.

You would think I uttered a disgusting swear word aimed at their mothers.

Two of them stop in their tracks and the other one actually gapes at me. "I...you...that isn't your name?!"

"...no...it's the shortened version of [my real name]."

"SAY WHAT?!"

[keeps walking and points to the sign outside my door that says my full name]

"I'VE NEVER NOTICED!" "WHOA WHAT?!"

For a bunch of lawyers who look way too hard at details, they're a bit...obtuse sometimes.
