It might be because she stands taller than most Korean girls at 170cm or her hair that is more vibrant and striking than the regular light brown that Koreans usually dye their hair. Or it might be her dewy white skin. Now don't get me wrong. The girl is gorgeous on the outside but that is usually with the help of makeup. Her skin is naturally fairly white but with makeup it just adds that 'look at me' effect. Or it might be the striking eye-liner that she wears on a daily basis. Some say the reason so many people pay attention to her is due to her hourglass shaped body and long straight legs. Of course nobody's naturally perfect. She is almost underweight at 54kg and went through so much work to get the body that she has today. Hours at the gym with friends, training her muscles, dancing, and playing sports to stay fit and in shape.

( elaboration ) : How to describe Hong Sunhee? Like every other person on the planet, she has her good and bad qualities, it all depends on what people see it as. Some people may find her sarcastic comments rude but others may think that she is funny and confident. Some may think that she is independent, others find her impossible to work with. Of course some of her traits easily stick out as being bad but others easily stick out as being good.

Sunhee is easily one of the most passionate people in South Korea. She will always give her all for whatever she's doing but never in a relationship. Many would say that she is a terrible girlfriend, due to how uncaring she is of her boyfriends at the time, but in truth she is only afraid of getting too attached to someone then having something bad happen which causes them to break up, breaking her heart twice as much than if she had not cared. She is constantly looking at boys and is extremely confident, unlike a lot of girls she has the guts to go talk to them as you see Sunhee is not a shy person. Around guys she is fairly flirtatious, saying things that they may like, subtly hinting that she is available. She has a real way with words and can easily get them wrapped around her little finger and have them do what she wants. She is extremely persuasive and will always use her charms to get what she wants, not just to boys but also to girls. She is extremely competitive and will always be looking for a good challange. Many will call her stubborn, others will call her hardworking. Some may call her honest about her feelings while other find her extremely blunt. If she says she loves you then she means it, which in turn results if she says that she hates you then it's not a lie. She always gets what she wants and will lie, cheat and blackmail for it.

Sunhee has a short temper and will get very violent when angry. You would think that she would be obedient and passive due to not being the leader. Nope, she's not a follower at all. Honestly she would make a very good leader and bring her group to be the best of the best. Perfect. But that's the problem. She rules with an iron fist and anybody that tries to go against her... well let's just say she isn't the most understanding person. She'll often get scolded as she is constantly trying to lead everything even when she has no right to. The only known person, well people, who can calm her down is her older brother, or younger brother now as he isn't as scrawny and weak as he was in the past, and the way they do it is, they pick her up over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes, and endures her kicks and punches, and locks her in an empty closet and leaves her there for a couple of hours to calm down. If not done that way then she will start throwing things acting very violently. She will throw and probably break anything that gets in her way. Imagine a spoiled princess not getting the new pure white pony that she wanted on her birthday. Yeah that's Sunhee when she is angry except she doesn't whine over it. She just throws things, yells some curses and is done with it, unless the person who made her angry did something really bad and well, lets just say she holds grudges for a while. Even though she has many traits that make her human, she also has many great ones. Honestly, she is probably the funniest, most erted person ever. She doesn't mind reading , and does it daily, and can easily make an innocent conversation go down the wrong path. She can crack jokes easily and has a very laid back sense of humour, laughing at almost everything. Along with her great humour, she can sometimes take things too far. For example she is constantly pranking people thinking that it is funny but it may cause the other to get mad, though she doesn't realize it until after the prank has happened. She is extremely loyal and will always stand by her friends and commitments. If she does something, she will be very responsible and admit it was her fault, sometimes even taking the fall for others. No she may not be the most understanding but that is because she wants to get better and she believes that there is no room for weakness if you want to get better. Even though she gets a new boyfriend pretty much ever two weeks cheating on them is not an option for her. She refuses and will never cheat on them instead she'll just break up with them if she gets sick of them. She gets comfortable around people easily and is always the one to call to break up awkward situations, or at times create them through the words that she says. She is a daredevil and loves the adrenaline of trying new things, almost always getting hooked on them instantly. She loves winning and taking on challenges people don't believe that she can do to prove to them how great she is. Behind her y face and physique she is actually a big crybaby and a mess of aegyo. She will always cry during sad or even happy movies whether it's too sad or something really happy occurs. Aegyo comes naturally to her and despite her y face she can be extremely cute and will use her aegyo to get what she wants. She has a bad habit of keeping people in her life and ignoring their flaws even if they are horrible. She will cling onto her friends like a koala bear and hates leaving them.

On-Screen she is seen as cute. She will constantly be doing aegyo to get what she wants and will always want to win. Some say that she is witty but others say that she's rude as she will members and reveal some secrets, but not bad secrets. Harmless secrets. She is the person that MC's go to for dirt as she will constantly give away little bits of their personal lives. But not crazy things like "oh this girl is dating so and so." No she gives away small things like who's friends with who and stuff like that. During performances she will try to be 'the y/cute one' out of the rest of her members despite being one of the older members. While dancing she'll be y while still showing off aegyo at times

 

( background ) : Hong Sunhee was born and raised in Seattle, Washington by parents Hong JungWoo and Song MinYoung. Growing up was difficult for Sunhee as she also had an older brother, named Sungoh or David, who would constantly tease and prank her. They would always be fighting or arguing and he would always claim that he was better than her in everything for example dance, judo, taekwondo, running, climbing etc. Suprisingly though, schoolwork and grades were never compared between the two as they both slacked but got good grades in school. A year after she was born she got a younger brother, named Sungmin or Justin, who always acted as the peacekeeper between his older siblings. Sunhee and Sungoh, who act surprisingly similar, would always get into arguments and trust the youngest to be the most mature and calm both siblings down.

Sunhee first started dancing in the 1st grade when her mother, whom was a former professional dancer herself, enrolled her into ballet classes. She was against it at first, throwing tantrums, whining, begging, threatening etc. to get out of them but never succeeded. She hated how girly it was, as she was a major tomboy back then, and hated the colour pink. Her mother, being just as stubborn as she was, refused and forced her through it, then also signed her up for contemporary, jazz, hip-hop and tap, which is one of the most grateful decisions Sunhee believes her mother has done for her. During high school she was taught how to pop and tut through her friend Matthew. Honestly, she hated ballet and wasn't the best at it but stuck through it because she is a resonsible adult (no jk it was only cuz her parents forced her through it). She loved learning with Matthew though because their classes would always be hilariously funny. Even though she was taught dance for such a long time of her life, she barely learned anything besides popping and tutting through Matthew.

Throughout high school she was always part of the "popular people." She went to parties and all the school games. It was at one of her best friends' parties where she took her first sip of alcohol, which she found disgusting, and met her first boyfriend Kim Jisup. Jisup was an athlete. Not the best grades but super handsome, athletic, and cocky. To put it short, he was part of the jocks. He was on the basketball and rugby team at a different high school and they just clicked. He asked her to be his girlfriend and she accepted whole-heartly. She was told through friends about Jisups' constant habit of cheating and throwing girls away but she didn't listen as she thought that they were just jealous. Of course she found out in the most cliche way possible. She was at the mall with friends and saw him kissing another girl. Being the violent girl she is, and due to the fact that neither her brother nor empty lockable rooms were available, she walked straight up to him and confronted him about it. Turns out the other girl didn't know he had a girlfriend either and if she wasn't in a public place he would have been beaten to a pulp but she just slapped him in the end, and stomped on his foot with her heels and kicked him in the jewels; no biggie. From that point on she refused to be cheated on again so she kept dating, boy after boy, her always being the one to break up with them before they had the chance to break up with her, even if they never thought of breaking up with her.

The family decided to move back to South Korea when she was 16 as they wanted the children to 'connect back to their roots.' Sunhee was bored and lonely so she decided to join a dance studio approximately twenty minutes away from their apartment on foot. She met a lot of great people there and developed her dancing skills there. It was there where she met her favourite person in South Korea, to this day. Honestly she still played with guys at times but soon grew out of it and focused more on dance because apparently Korean guys weren't as fun as American guys, which would be true to some extent as most Korean guys are more reserved and such. But anyways, dancing in the studio was her favourite thing and made great friends with this one boy named Hyunwoo. She actually treated him as more of a little brother than another guy to just play around with and they would constantly dance and goof off with a bunch of the other dancers. He was actually the one who convinced her to join JYP with him, this was before he was cut himself.

( personality ) : Hyunwoo is easily the fatherly type. He's quiet, observant, fatherly and very very strict. Around his friends he will talk more but honesty it does take a lot of time and effort to break down his shell. He's protective over his few friends, sometimes a little too protective and will sometimes have a mother attitude by nagging them and telling them what they should and shouldn't do, Sunhee has had first hand experience with this even though she's older than him. He tends to look at the big picture and all different perspectives of well, pretty much everything. He's quiet, smart and analitycal about all his actions and will stop people from making ty decisions at well, all times. Honestly, it wouldn't be surprising if Hyunwoo becomes the leader of Monsta X due to his fatherly caring attitude. Despite being caring, like some fathers, he is very very strict. He's a perfectionist really, and will not be satisfied with anything but perfection and will go through hours and hours of practice just to reach perfection and his choreography and his groups choreography. His other members and Sunhee lean onto him like a pillar. He's the pillar of sanity in their lives and he will always be the open ear as he is a great listener. Even though he is a great listener, he knows when to fool around and have fun even though those moments are rare and will only be shown to his extremely close friends and family due to always wanting to be seen as the mature one in life.

( meeting ) :They actually first met about a month after Sunhee came to South Korea. Due to being new in the country and never living there before, besides family trips but those don't count since they stayed in hotels, Sunhee was really a lost duck in a crowd of chicken, probably not the best analogy but that's all I can think of at the moment. She knew where nothing was and honestly doesn't have the best sense of direction. Whenever she left the house she needed one of her brothers with her at all times just so she wouldn't get lost. So long story short, she joined a dance studio about twenty minutes away from their apartment, as that was the closest. When she first walked in, with her little brother, a lot of people stared at her due to how strange her manners were. Now let's be honest here, sure she didn't really care about being in South Korea nor did she care about how people saw her but she still didn't want to come off as rude in front of people that she was planning on knowing for a while. Anyways, Hyunwoo was there at the time and being one of the owners favourites, and the fact that the secretly was in the washroom and the owner was teacher a class he decided to talk to the siblings, as he too did not want to come off as rude despite his quiet nature. She explained to him how she was not from South Korea and how she wanted to join a place where she could just dance whenever so he got her to stay there until the owner was finished. God was their first meeting awkward. Sunhee and Sungmin would do most of the talking while Hyunwoo talked a bit about the studio but never really anything personal. When the owner was finished teaching he got Sunhee to show him what she could do so she danced to BoA's My Name (Not even sorry that this is a guy but he rocked it) and well the owner allowed her to join. God it was so so awkward between Sunhee and Hyunwoo in the beginning but after a lot of time and effort he finally allowed her in, may be due to him seeing her drunk the first time and felt bad for her. Honestly the only reason she even payed attention to him in the beginning (besides the fact that's he's some y meat) is because he reminded her so much of Matthew and how quiet but observant he was and thought that she needed another friend like him. So pretty much Shownu replaced Sunhee's old best friend in the beginning before finding out that the only trait that they pretty much shared was the fact that they were both quiet.

( interactions ) : Hyunwoo and Sunhee are the stereotypical brother X sister couple. They are honestly so close and treat each other at family that they don't even know that they are romantically attracted to each other. Whenever they're around each other his funny, silly side comes out due to extensive time and silliness from Sunhee to drag this side out of him. His fatherly side always comes out majorly when he's around her as well that balances his silly goofy side. As they often club together, ok not super often but they will go on occasion because why the hell not and they want to have fun too. He's saved her multiple times at clubs from being taken advantaged of when she was well, too drunk to function really and taken care of her whenever she needed him. Pretty much whenever they go partying it's an unspoken rule that he's not allowed to drink and keep an eye on Sunhee. That then leads to him pretty much dragging the girl out and into Sojin's apartment, which welcomes them with open arms as she'll always know when Sunhee goes out because her parents will call Sojin and as if it really is ok for Sunhee to have a 'sleepover' with her cousin. Yeah some sleepover that is. Sojin will constantly cover for the two even when she's at work which just leads Hyunwoo to use the spare key that she keeps under her mat to get in and throw the drunk girl in bed and take care of her for the night because she's his noona so he feels responsible for her. Isn't he just the sweetest?

Of course their relationship isn't all sparkles and rainbows, which relationship is? They have their arguments and their quarrels and that's usually when Sunhee or Hyunwoo is stressed out or just jealous of the other, though both parties don't admit it. Sunhee sees Hyunwoo as a little kid, her baby even, and she feels responsible most of the time to just love and baby him while Hyunwoo sees Sunhee as his noona, his older sister that he needs to protect from all the bad monsters. They have their arguments which usually consist of "Why are you dating _____ s/he is such a bad person, you could do so much better" blah blah blah. This ends up with them not talking for days until one of them caves and finally apologizes, which has been both parties on multiple occasions. So all in all to make things short and sweet (LOLS This is nowhere near short or sweet) they act like siblings. She treats him like a little brother while he treats her like an older sister with both parties not realizing how much they like the other.
