Would I be bad if I said I don't get why gay marriage is even necessary? Or at least the "gay" part. Because, last I checked, aside from the fact that the people getting married are of the same gender, it's exactly the same as a straight wedding - you make your promise to each other to remain together and love each other for the rest of your life in front of family and friends, so why do we need to differentiate it as a "gay" wedding? Can't we just say it's a wedding? Because we don't have "straight" weddings or "mixed race" weddings or "mixed age" weddings or anything like that. Or am I being exceedingly naive and idealistic?
