LET'S TALK ! (WHY IS IT SO POPULAR??)

"No girl can get my Oppa."

Okay so... let's give oppa... ANOTHER OPPA?

So today, we're going to talk about the rising number of fanfics here in this site or any other sites somewhere over the rainbow. - when we (especially the kpop fans out there) hear this word, of course we first think about our "OTP" or One True Pairing. All of us have our own Biases and no one can deny how much we love them, right? Maybe that's one factor why we initially thought of creating fanfics - wanting to imagine them in a certain situation.

Boyfriend material, manly, cute, childish and some other stuffs.

And one of those other stuffs is... HAVING A LOVE LINE WITH THE SAME GENDER?

First of all, I am never against different preferences. It is true. it is never a sin to be a gay. But technically speaking these preferences start to go wrong once these people begin to have a ual relationship with the same gender (well, at least spiritually speaking). But I love gays - they are so nice and friendly, alright!

BUT! There is another but!

Let's not talk about homouality, instead let's talk about our main topic, ofc.

WHY ARE FANFICS SO POPULAR THESE DAYS??

Four years of being active in the fanfic world, I admit that I have never ever ever ever tried a single fanfic. But in all fairness, I know tons of authors are actually very excellent - they are very talented. I know one which is actually very acceptable, and I think it's 10080 and I know it is awesome because it was and is still famous up to this date, and I think because it focuses on real love, instead of just dirty dirty stuffs, ya know what I mean - it has a story, a real and inspiring one I think. But, I wonder why... for the dirty, rated 's... Why take the risk of creating a boy-to-boy fic when these idols can be teamed up with girls -  and let these male idols actually have a relationship and make love with girls? One more thing, there are some fanfics, where of course they use their boy-to-boy OTP, but the other one is a freaking female in the story. WHY. I don't get it at all. For example, a Kaisoo fic, but Kyungsoo is the girl in the story, or vise versa.

I mean... is it that hard for them to actually imagine their Biases fall in love with a girl? (specifically, not them?) We support these idols, we like them, even love. And we know ourselves that they are far from what these stories are. Okay, I get that it is fictional and we authors choose how we want the story to be. I am never gonna judge the awesome writers - cause I know how it feels to be judged as an author, so I would never do that, but instead the readers especially the younger ones who prefer than the normal stories! It is given and accepted if you somewhat really have a different preference (either a lesbian or a gay) therefore, you would want a or a girl-to-girl fanfic. But most of these readers are straight and just actually want their idols to each other??

And as I have created a few Kyungsoo fanfics - I failed to ignore their comments saying how thankful they are to me for creating acceptable Kyungsoo fanfics because most of his are s. I mean. Ha? I get it, i checked it out and INDEED. I know, Kyungsoo is cute, and all. And I wouldn't deny EXO or other groups' friendship - it is brotherhood, bruh. But not to that extent, right? But I like those fanfics who has the tag, "kaisoo" or "chanbaek" but is about friendship or something... BUT ONCE I SAW THE [M] OR OR SOMETHING ELSE THAT IS JUST DIRTY. I continue scrolling and sometimes end up seeing all of the stories had the same tags!

Nowadays, it's so hard to find a legit awesome fanfic that is either idolxOC or idolxidol.

Guys, I am sincerely confused about this right now. And if you can explain to me the reason why and answer all of my questions, I will read it with all my heart and think about it thoroughly and maybe have a new and fresh view about this craze.

A lot don't support , but more does. And I won't clean my name and say I have nothing against readers. I do have, because i don't understand. For now I won't assume anymore possible reasons why they like it, instead I will hope I would get some dignified and acceptable explanations someday...

But for now, my final opinion... IS DAMN POPULAR RIGHT NOW, I can't even beat these stories with whatever I say, cause they are so popular. I am sure K.O. Keke~

That will be all,

thank you for those who understood me, and had the same views as I do.

sorry to those whom I  might have offended, and I will accept your defense and explanations

I know as I had the right to state my opinion, you're no different and you can also do the same.

I personally like but I don't know why. I really don't. However...
I also hate it when people go to write a pairing and they make kyungsoo the girl (using your example). I mean, if you're going to write a story, write a story. If you're just going to make one a girl, why not just write a girlxboy story?
I tend to lean away from OC stories because the ones I've read are always inserts of the author and I'm done reading about "me x idol" stories. If there is an excellent story that you've read, please recommend. I prefer for some reason but I will enjoy any well written, attracting story. I also don't like the ... I'd much rather read about something more substantial, not raw lust.

I agreed. Im not a fan of . Its just weird. Why imagine your oppa with another guy? Same as you. Totally nothing against gay, but reading just make me feel weird about it.

I don't like , seriously. My friends always tell me about fanfics, and I always think 'what so good with that fanfics?'. I cant imagine if my idol -especially Exo- is a gay! Seriously, even Baekhyun in the real world is Taeyeon's boyfriend. So, I just dont get it if people said they like fanfics. And I hope you won't write fanfics coz' I just dont like it :'(

And trust me, even people that write /yuri have trouble getting popular as well at first. However, the people that write /yuri are also a lot more supportive of those that write the ships they like and will recommend stories for them. While those that write oc/idol are less likely to make recommendations than those that don't. If you notice, a lot of popular oc/idol authors do not rec fics... Heck, a good portion of them don't even read fics from the fandom they write for (I'm friends with a few of them and from talking to them, I know that a lot of them truly don't read a lot of fic, at least not from the kpop fandom, unless it's from a close friend or something of the like), while a good portion of /yuri fic writers actually read the ships they write for. So it makes sense that /yuri is popular, they have a decent writing community going on. And if you have a decent writing community that actively supports most writers, it's going to gain a lot of writers and readers.

Then there is also the case that many people that write/read same relationship fic are people from other fandoms that realize that media sometimes likes to use things like queer-baiting for their characters, constantly portraying their characters as anything other than straight, only to say they're straight at the end, when in real life, it probably wouldn't be true. So these people get used to the fanfic that promotes what they think the characters are and will get used to reading these types of fics as they move around fandoms.

And another thing, same relationships can make love just like any other relationship, so I don't see why people need to make their idols make love to female idols/oc's when they can do that for the ships they like. And if you know anything about oc/idol fics, a good portion of the rated M fics are . Anything that is rated M that is usually less than 3 chapters is probably . So I don't see anything wrong with people wanting to write for /yuri, because there are just as many people into straight as they are into /yuri .

I'm biual, so I write about stuff I know. So a lot of my fics are boyxboy (since I usually lean more towards men, than I do women, despite 80% of my relationships being with girls), but the characters are not all gay. They run from being biual, panual, demiual, etc... Because I write what I want to see and let me tell you, not many write non monoual characters, so that is what I write. However, most of the relationship stuff is not always the main thing of the story, but a side thing that is happening while the rest of the story progresses.

However, a lot of people that like writing/reading stuff can be due to the fact that heteroual relationships do not have the same taboo-ness that /yuri ships do, so they are more interesting in that sense compared to the norm. In fanfiction, there is also the ability that anyone can create their own worlds that support these relationships and even make these relationships get treated the same as het relationships do, because a good portion of the world oppresses non-heteroual people. There is also the fact that fanfic has a good track record of being more well written compared to het fics, so it's much easier to find well written boyxboy fics than it is to find good het fics at times. Boy groups/girl groups usually have a lot of same friends compared to opposite friends, so it's much easier to base relationships off of the relationships that people can see, over the relationships that people don't always see. Then there is always the case that some people just get by same relationships, regardless of what uality they identify themselves with, so they will read/write what they like.

I honestly cannot imagine my bias with another guy... Im not against homouality, but I just cant imagine or read it.

Like my post on my facebook account, "Hetero is a no no, while is much supported" like seriously, kids these day most likely have corrupt minds and they are becoming selfish as time goes by. " If I can't get my oppa, then no one will! ... Well besides *idol pair* of course". Bull :/
