description : with the click of her heels and an occasional grunt up the apartment steps (because the elevator was out of order for the forth time this month) anyone could tell that charlotte was in the building. casted as the stereotypical princess of the bunch, first impressions are often hard to shake when getting to know of her. but with all great people comes depth that is most often buried deep under water.

Charlotte, first and foremost, is one of the socable people you will meet in the area of manhattan. she exudes charm just alone by her looks but having knowledge of a variety of topics give her more dimension with her intelligence and makes her very personable.
SHE THINKS ITS VERY IMPORTANT FOR HUMAN BEINGS TO BE MASTERS AT THE ART OF CONVERSATION AS IT ONLY HELPS OTHERS CLIMB UP THE LADDER OF THE FOOD CHAIN OF TWENTY FIRST CENTURY ADULTS. its easy to fall into conversation about anything with her, from entertainment to politics. also, fun fact, as a certified soror of sigma delta tau, she also knows how to make a mean margaritas and scrapbooks.

but what makes her memorable is her sassy attitude, often mistaken as being naive or terribly shallow (which is true some times). her tongue can be only described as spit fire as she is one of the best to make such brutal, blunt, and honest comments. most of the time her judgements get her in trouble as they are much impulsive with no time of thought spared, but at other times she's one of the few brave enough to really speak on the behalf of the group. even when she's called out for the things she says, she does her best to stand up for herself and not let anyone undermine her just because of who she is.

THOUGH COMING FROM A BACKGROUND OF BEING CONSTANTLY BEING PAMPERED AND SPOILED MAKES HER LOOK HELPLESS AND INCOMPETENT NEXT TO THE REST. ITS NOT UNUSUAL TO HEAR HER WAIL THROUGH THE HALLS THAT SHE'S UNABLE TO WASH HER LAUNDRY CORRECTLY (NEVER SEPERATING DARKS FROM LIGHTS BECAUSE SHE WAS TOO LAZY TO ORGANIZE) OR TAKE OUT HER TRASH ON TIME. THOUGH DESPITE APPEARING INEPT TO TAKE CARE OF HERSELF SHE ASPIRES TO PROVE OTHERS WRONG BY TRYING TO MAKE UP FOR IT AFTER SHE HAS BEEN TAUGHT THE NECESSARY SKILLS AND LIMITING HER WHINING TIME (FROM AN HOUR TO THIRTY MINUTES. What? SHE'S WORKING ON IT). her goal in life, next to being rich and successful, is becoming the independent woman others don't believe she can be, but even she knows that such a feat will take more time and patience than a regular gel nail manicure at the shop around the corner.

background : as a second generation korean american, charlotte lee was brought into a life of "subtle" luxary. her parents, first generation korean americans, overcame adversity that their parents  had and rose to their fortune having a successful business in the form of capitalizing in laundromats all around new york city, then selling the company for a "small" profit. charlotte and her brothers (2) were then blessed with whatever they needed provided that eventually when they would get older they would have to be as successful as their parents.

for charlotte, growing up "rich" meant nothing, really. she had no real concept of what money was due to being constantly given the answer to all her problems with a flick of her fingers. it also didn't help that she  went to private schools throughout the city, where others were in her position, up until university when she attended nyu for biology and understood that not everyone was as privledged as she was. but even then that didn't really make an impact on her as she still continued to receive allowance from her parents.

being raised in between two sons wasn't too hard for charlotte; it caused her to grow thick skin and sharpen her tongue in preparation for whatever they had to throw at her, mentally or physically. she was truly treated like a princess by her father, who  gave her anything and everthing she wanted at a bat of a lash and a glimpse of a pout, and didn't show much concern in what she wanted to do in the future compared to his wife.

she, in a vast contrast to her husband,  constantly nagged the girl to strive for the highest grades and best positions. her mother knew charlotte was very capable of many things, seeing her grades were an indication that she wasn't as much of an airhead as she looks to be, but her daughter did not show any motivation to achieve success in the right way. it was because of a mountain of arguments in between her and charlotte that resulted in the girl's eviction from the family penthouse and subsequent wealth in her last year of university ("mom wanted me to be a doctor, not the wife of one") and placed her in the position she is in now, living in the apartments of manhattan trying to learn what it means to "make ends meet".

lifestyle : since she's freshly out of college and out of her family's wealth, scharlotte is currently working her way to survive this new life of being one of the "less fortunate". despite the fact that she was accepted in nyu's med school after her graduation earlier in the year, she has chosen to take a year off due to the sudden change in lifestyle. in place of going back to school she has landed a job at macy's as a make-up saleswoman, advertising for bobbi brown, as her employers thought it would be best to capitalize on her ability to draw buyers in and easily talk to them. her salary, despite the many comissions she is able to make, isn't enough to fund her previous lifestyle of glamor so she budgets most of it towards her outward appearance and constantly has to beg for leftovers from her neighbors and the bakery of central perk. she's still learning how to take care of herself so usually her room is the messiest of the bunch and a multitude of wails and whines are heard whenever she has to conquer problems such as taking out her trash without ripping the bag, unclogging her toilet, or forgetting to lock her door when she leaves; but she's getting better as the days go by.

trivia :
∙ i'm a barbie girl, in a barbie world: if it wasn't established already, charlotte is kind of a basic white girl trapped in an asian girl's body. her favorite color is pink, she loves starbucks, was apart of  a soroity, has a belly button piercing, and can religously quote mean girls without a second thought. but even if all of these weren't true, she still hates being labeled as the princess or "white girl" because she doesn't mean to come off as such, its just her life was shaped to resemble that. her parents really didn't spend the time to expose her to korean culture nor really not try to spoil her, but she also acknowledges that she could've sought that out herself if she wanted to.

∙ ms. smarty pants: as mentioned earlier, she did go to nyu to study biology and was accepted to study medicine. 90% of this was due to her mother but 10% was because charlotte didn't want to pursue business, engineering or law. science was always facinating to her, and if she were to choose what kind of medicine she wanted to go into it would probably be neurology; the nervous system being the most complex to her, thus a challenge she wanted to overcome. she's actually quite intelligent for a girl who would rather attend fashion week in ny rather than an open heart surgery at mt. sinai hospital, but that's partially thanks to a handful of tutors when she was growing up and also her wit in being able to answer multiple choice answers ("it's all in the stem of the question, duh").

∙ put the lime in the coconut: she's the group bartender and party girl with her vast knowledge in mixing drinks and knowing people's limits. even though she's the last to arrive at the party she's the first one to call out anyone when they've passed their limit and will personally bring them home before they embarrass themselves. from personal experience she knows how bad it feels when one makes a fool out of themselves when they're both drunk and in public so they often rely on her to do the same for them.

∙ connecting the dots: so the weird thing about charlotte is that she happens to know everyone from knowing at least two other people. on one or more occasions she is able to get out of situations by being able to call a person that she knew from this other person. her phone contacts are the scariest thing to encounter next to her bathroom as they as very disorganized to anyone but her, thus no one ever tries to opperate her phone when she can't get to it herself.

∙ FOODie at heart: after going to nyu and living at the apartments for a while she's kinda has fallen in love with food trucks. halal, hot dogs, mexican fusion stands are her favorite to indulge in when she isn't forced to cook.

"we were on a break!"
catchphrase : (clicks tongue while staring at something)
"if it wasn't for mom kicking me out, this wouldn't have happened."
interview

what is your ideal type like? :

"you all PROBABLY expect me to say someone with money or can do things for me. well you're wrong."

(pauses, looks around)

"okay maybe that's partially true but honestly i'm not that shallow. i think a guy with a sense of humor is the best guy. it takes a particular kind of sense to get people to laugh at dumb things."

why did you decide to move here? :

"let's be real here, i didn't want to move here. i really didn't. but because mom said i needed to stop being bottle fed and thinking i live in a disney channel movie, i'm here now."

"but i've heard good things about this place, like no one has never died here and it doesn't look too shabby-- it just needs some paint and pretty people."

describe a typical day in your life is :

"well if it doesn't start with me stumbling into my apartment in the early hours of the morning, it's usually me sleeping then waking up two hours earlier than i should because my alarm clock has gone off. i grumble and try to get out and go for a run or something and then return back to get ready for work. then i do my job: talk to people, make them prettier, earn some cold cash. if i'm not going straight at central perk i'm probably window shopping, then planning to go to central perk anyways before going home to work on that laundry i've neglected and maybe will go out for a fun time with my friends."

"then wash and repeat. i mean thats what my shampoo says at least."

say something funny :

"my bank account. i mean do you see how many zeroes the thing doesn't have?"
"i don't even have a pla"

scene suggestions :
∙ the one where she runs out of clothes: a scene where charlotte's inability to wash clothes (because her parents even refuse to let her use the landromat service) has gotten out of control to the point where she literally has to ask her neighbor to borrow some clothes until someone properly teaches her how to do laundry.

∙ the one where the party animal is unleashed: at a house party with the whole crew one of them gets too drunk and surprisingly its not charlotte. they then have to deal with the challenge of getting the drunk friend out and back to their room. chaos ensues as there's some hiccups in the plan including lost wallets, dead phones, horrible cab drivers and a desire to get a hotdog at 2am.

comments : i think i liked my other applicaiton better but this plotline was what i wanted to do originally. i'm sorry if its very redundant and non-inspiring but it's kinda hard to get away from if you do a plotline like this. also major apologies for the length. jfc.
