Hell
From a writing prompt challenge: write a short prose scene that pairs with a song.
I marvel at the canvas of blood and bone before me. Oceans of crimson splattered atop the fragments of ligaments and soiled flesh decorate the ground. Red dripping from my fingertips, a foul stench fills the air with an unbearable miasma.
A weary smile spreads across my face. My body aches from the labor of the deed. My soul chipped away by every soul I’ve taken. Yet still, I am bemused by my own masterpiece. I wonder. Will she marvel at my artistry?
This sculpture of corpses is my gift to you, Goddess. I would sacrifice the remnants of my being for you. This bloody massacre is but a testament of my devotion. Please, love, let my eyes behold your incomparable beauty. Heal my ailing body the remedy of your kiss. Fill my craving heart with the warmth of your love. For if not I shall die alive, standing alone in the wake of the world. In the hell that I’ve created...just for you.
