Hyunmi is very outgoing because she's one of the female jocks. In her school, she was quite popular among the boys because she's kind of like a queenka there. She's very popular, despite her not knowing it. She's very sarcastic, but knows when to stop. If she's really close with a person, she's very sarcastic with them. Hyunmi is also very witty and makes a retort of any form to anyone, whether the retort is meant in a bad or good way. In short, she has a good

sense. Despite her being kind of popular, Hyunmi never brags about it. On the contrary, she is unaware of her fame. Hyunmi trusts the right people, and if you prove yourself to her, then she will tell you a lot of her secrets.

She has princess complex, but doesn't have the bragging part. She believes she's great at everything, when she really at drawing and dancing. Hyunmi's admittedly very lazy, sometimes called sloth by her classmates. But she can be really hard-working once she puts her mind to it. She really likes sleeping too. She's quite an awkward turtle. She is really friendly, but runs out of things to say pretty fast, and this causes the atmosphere to become awkward, which confuses people she knows. At first, she gives a cold vibe to for a first impression. Because of this, she is sometimes branded as a troublemaker for no apparent reason. She is also somewhat of a klutz. Hyunmi had already broken a lot of things due to her clumsiness and isn't really trusted with fragile objects. Hyunmi is very forgetful, to an extent that sometimes she forgets what she is doing despite having done it just now. Hyunmi also has a fear that her friends would find her annoying and discard her for some other friends. That's why sometimes, she's really pesky and annoying to people, because she doesn/t want them to grow bored of her. She's also really sensitive. She gets hurt pretty easily so she doesn't want to hear people saying bad things about her or scold her. But if she does, no one knows that she cries since she heads out to the Han River and cry there.

background » Hyunmi is born in California, 2 years after Kevin Woo. She is a little bundle of joy to her parents, being a cute little girl. She grew up to be a rascal and mischevious. After Kevin's debut in Korea as a part of U-Kiss, she has moved to Korea in hopes to debut. She auditioned for JYP in 2000 and got in, but was soon dropped since her music taste seemed better fit to YG's music. She soon auditioned for SM in 2005 and got in for her rapping skill. Despite being in SM, she didn't stop studying. She continued college and graduated with Second Honors in SNU with the course IT, since she is very fond of computers and technology. Juggling school with training was really hard. She even wanted to give up a couple of times, but her drive and promise to herself prevented her to do so. She had to wake up really early, attend trainings on the weekdays and attends college on weekends and her free time. Due to this, she did not have many friends in SM. In SM, she had quite a hard time since she can't really sing and dance, which was the trademark of SM. She got bullied a lot by the older trainees, but then she met Krystal and Jessica again and the two protected her. Instead of stopping, the bullying worsened, calling Hyunmi a 'user'. She didn't give up and persevered, until Youngmin put her in the position where she might be able to debut after all.

family » mom - Shin Sooyeon (32 / housewife / alive ) Sooyeon's very supportive of Hyunmi and is the one who spoils Hyunmi. 
dad - Woo Jinhyuk ( 48 / doctor / alive ) at first, he hated the idea of Hyunmi being an idol, but soon relented. He is more disciplinary than Sooyeon.

personality » He is very shy and reserved but very funny. Lay is very good at making people laugh without meaning to. He's very forgetful, like Hyunmi. He's also very talented but doesn't boast of it and is very polite. He's very protective towards his friends, especially Hyunmi.

love story » They both met when Kris had brought Tao and Lay with him in the music studio where Hyunmi was practicing to teach them how to rap Two Moons. Hyunmi, having heard the song before, volunteered to rap the English part usually rapped by Key. She then taught the two Chinese boys the English lines of the song and how to pronouce it properly. The second time they met was when some of the trainee girls were physically hurting and mocking Hyunmi. Lay, recognizing Hyunmi, helped her and politely asked the girls what was their goal in hurting you. Instead, they mocked him as well which made him angry. He told on them to Lee Soo Man, being close to the old man, and the girls received a harsh lesson. Ever since, Hyunmi and Lay had been friends.
Now, Lay and Hyunmi are still good friends. Even Luhan back then and now, Chen, Chanyeol and Baekhyun teases the two for being very close. They love to go out on "friendly" dates, which is the center of the Beagle Line's teasing. Hyunmi would usually wave it off, but her heart pounds and her ears go red, which she covers with her hair. Lay would laugh it off too. He usually thinks of her as a little sister, but can't deny that he harbors a little feelings for her.
