#AFF6Years: Days 2 and 3

As I drove from Amsterdam to Stuttgart yesterday, I could not do the second day of the week's themes, so here are the second and third day!

Day 2: My most memorable AFF Experience(s)

I can't decide so I'm going to go with two of them. And they're both hangouts/webchats. Both technically happened off the site, but they all involved people ON the site, so that's no big deal.

The first involved two people who are of course two of my dearest friends, Carly and Jason. What was originally going to just be this short little Hangout turned into a seven hour gigglefest and deep philosophy thing that two of us *may* have been a little buzzed during and one of us for sure fell asleep (ahem). We did not intend for it to go on that long, we really didn't. But Jason basically had a full bottle of wine (or half, but either way huzzah), we all had like a meal while speaking to each other, and so much dumb, random crap was discussed. Manga, books, scary comics, about ten minutes of site stuff, we learned a lot about each other that can best be summed up as !!!!!!!! and just so much...it was a good night. I got an hour of sleep that night. But it was a good night.

The second webchat on my list of faves is the one Karlo, Drea, and I did on Christmas back in 2010. Wow. So long ago! We didn't get too crazy, we didn't like...party hard or anything, but it was just really poignant? Midnight hit for us (too early for Drea) and we were like, "Merry Christmas!" and I don't know, to this day that little get-together always stands out in my mind. Really all the webchats do, but these two in particular are at the forefront of my mind a lot.

Day 3: Thank you AFF for teaching me...

  • valuable customer service etiquette (lol)
  • that if you're writing, that is a very good thing, language skills be damned - everyone has to start somewhere and get better, yeah?
  • new ways to approach fanfiction
  • new ways to talk to readers
  • about OTPs I never would have touched otherwise
  • that some people are fantastic storytellers even outside of fic writing
  • how to be active on a site for five years and not punch my screen \o/

Day 4 is tomorrow!
