appearance » Haenim stands at 175 cm (5'10 in) and weighs 55 kg (120 lbs). She appears gangly with her long arms and legs. Her shoulders are broad, her s small, and her waist is average. She sports strawberry/honey colored hair and a short bob which she claims 'makes her neck look long.' Her eyes are almond shaped and brown in color; her lips appear full and her nose is somewhat flat. Haenim has a heart shaped face and a mouth that smiles too easily. She is tan with the faintest hint of freckles.

style » She dislikes clothing that inhibit movement, so her casual outfits often comprise loose shirts, sweaters, and dresses. Haenim also likes bottoms that show off her long legs, so she is often in mini skirts or shorts. Her formal attire consist of short dresses and she will occassionally wear floor length dresses because it makes her feel like a queen. Her outfits are usually pastel colors.

Haenim is an independent spirit; she dislikes cages (both real and metaphorical) and needs to experience the world on her own. She is the type who will wander around the city, feels exhilerated when she gets lost, and likes to figure her way out. She is clever in that she will always find her way and adaptable in that new situations do not frighten her. This applies to her life as an idol (trainee) as well; she is socially adept, self-aware, and quick to adapt in social settings. During a party, she will be the one chatting animatedly and bouncing from one group to the next. Her adaptability allows her to work well in teams, unless a particular team inhibits her freedom. Due to her independence, she is wary of anyone dictating her actions without good reason.

Her independence has its limits. Haenim is used to solving her problems on her own, however in times of emotional distress where she cannot think clearly, she has a tendency to bottle things up. Her hurt, frustrations, and anger are often silent and she is unwilling to open up to others. It takes a person with a lot of patience and compassion to have her open up. She treats others in a similar manner; if someone has a problem, Haenim has a tendency to assume that they can solve it on their own. She will leave the person alone and mind her own business. In doing so, she is often perceived as uncaring. Haenim also views conflicts in the same way. If someone expresses their anger towards her, Haenim will brush them off and walk away. She is not good at handling emotional situations and prefers to have things settle themselves. 

Her other positive traits include an energetic personality. She wakes up early in the morning to jog, cook, or practice. Haenim is the type who cannot sit still; idle hands are her biggest pet peeve. If there is something that needs to be done, she will do it. Her seemingly endless energy also relates to her tendency to disperse her attention to many different tasks. This trait of hers is what established her as a triple threat: a vocalist, rapper, and dancer. If she was constrained to focus on one thing, she would have a mental breakdown. The downside to this trait of hers is that she also has a tendency to leave things unfinished. For example, despite training to become a vocalist, her singing is severely underdeveloped in comparison to her dancing and rapping. Haenim lacks the discipline to consistently train for one thing; the exception to this is dancing. Since she is able to freely move and use her energy, she is comfortable dancing for long hours. 

Her negative traits comprise a superficial, devious, and indecisive nature. Haenim is superficial in that she is quick to judge a person instead of getting to know their deeper qualities. Wrong impressions lead her to hesitate in establishing a relationship with that person. It usually takes the other person to forge the relationship, otherwise Haenim will already have moved onto the next. Her devious nature shows when she doesn't hesitate to express her honest opinion, tease, lie, or manipulate someone (regardless of their relationship) in order to get what she wants. This often leads to conflict where Haenim is obviously in the wrong. Despite this, she is usually the first to apologise and joke about it later on. Also, Haenim is indecisive; asking her where to eat, what to do, or what to buy causes her a great deal of anxiety. She will either want none or everything; a trait that makes her quite gluttinous.

On stage, she presents herself as someone witty and charismatic. Haenim is the most comfortable when performing on stage, thus whenever a camera is on her, she is almost always professional and "natural." Her states of distress are hidden very well behind an energetic persona.

trainee life » Haenim has been training under STARSHIP entertainment for six years. In those six years, she worked hard to fill in the gaps in her knowledge. She formally learned how to speak, read, and write in both English and Korean. She also learned how to formally read and compose music; in addition to learning proper rhythm, cadence, and enunciation for her rap. While learning to sing and rap, Haenim continued to improve her dancing and is learning how to choreograph properly. Although her singing has yet to become acceptable, her rap and dancing have greatly improved in the six years that she has been training. The dream of becoming an entertainer in order to support her family has fueled her throughout the years. 

background » On the dawn of the June 20, 1994, Haenim was born in their home in the Philippines. She was born to a father who drove a tricycle in order to support their family and a mother who stayed at home to care for the children. Haenim is the third child of a family of six. Their family often struggled to make ends meet, so Haenim grew up in a house that was limited in electricity, water, and food. Despite their struggle, their household tried their best to remain a happy family.

When she was nine years old, Haenim's family could no longer afford to pay the tuition necessary to keep her in school. She dropped out of school, thus halting her education at a fourth grade level. Haenim often stayed at home to help care for her younger sister as her elder brothers went to school. To keep her entertained, Haenim's mother would often encourage her to sing and dance. It was around this time that Haenim developed her love for singing and dancing. During the holidays, one of her parents' favorite memories is Haenim gifting their household with a song and dance that she had prepared and practiced for days.

As she grew up, not having to go to school allowed her the time to cultivate her talent in dancing by joining local dance crews and participating in dance competitions. Haenim learned how to dance in a very informal manner; a style which suits her learning quite perfectly. During one of these competitions, Haenim was discovered by a popular entertainment company in the Philippines. With her talent for dance and singing, the company was very interested in presenting her as one of their bright young talents. It was during this time that Haenim fostered a deep desire to become an entertainer in order to give her family a better life. She was featured in various stages, shows, and competitions, however she was often overshadowed by more talented child actors and singers. It became very apparent that her informal training placed her at a severe disadvantage to kids who had been properly trained. Eventually, Haenim left the industry because she could not keep up.

At around age thirteen, Haenim's eldest brother was able to graduate university after much hardwork and was offered to work overseas in Korea. Since Haenim did not finish school, her brother offered to finance her education and have her study in Korea as it was much more affordable. After much struggle, her parents pushed for Haenim to travel with her brother to Seoul. 

Despite her unsuccessful career as a child star, Haenim held onto her dream of becoming an entertainer. She saw Korea as a new opportunity to become one and did not hesitate to convince her brother to allow her to audition for various companies.

• Father: Song Daehyun; he is hard-working and wants the best for his children. He is often sorry that his job did not allow his children the future that they desire.
• Mother: Song Yoo-na; a kind soul; she believes that education is the way out of poverty. She also firmly believes in establishing a happy household and is working towards supporting her daughter in becoming an idol.
• Eldest brother: Song Jinguk; inherited his father's work ethic; extremely intelligent and clever. He supports his sister to fullest as it was her stint as a child actor that allowed him to finish university.
• Older brother: Song Jaejoong; mischievous, but street smart. He disagrees with Haenim's decision to become an idol as the previous entertainment industry hurt her deeply.
• Younger sister: Song Hae-ra; young, but mirrors her sister's adventuruous and creative spirit. She wants to become an idol, too.

friends/rivals »

• Mino of WINNER: Haenim and Minho became friends through competing against each other in underground rap competitions. She views him as a friend and as a rival since they share similar dreams. Minho was also able to debut before her (twice) and she is even more determined to debut so that she could stand on the same stage as her long time friend. Despite their equally busy schedules, they continue to text, call, and spend time with each other when they can. 
• Bobby of iKon: Haenim met Bobby through Minho though she knew of him through SMTM3. She is a huge fan of Bobby, though she often jokes that "he's okay." Haenim truly admits that Bobby has prodigious abilities. Despite her admiration and jealousy, Bobby's amicable personality allowed the two to become close friends. Like Minho, Bobby is easy to talk to and shares the same love for adventure as she does.

PERSONALITY » Despite his tough as nails appearance, he is kind and amicable towards those around him. He laughs easily and is a perpetual people pleaser. In addition, Minho is also a bit of a child; he complains just as easily, loves to play games, and is nearly always moving to fill his curiosity. Due to his childlike personality and tough appearance, he may come off as either immature or rude, but that is not his intetion. He responds to criticism well and apologises easily if he truly is in the wrong. To women, Minho is often flirtatious (with or without meaning to) and flatters people carelessly. 

LOVE STORY + HOW THEY MET » Haenim met Minho when he was still relatively active in the underground hip hop scene. She was invited by some friends she met in various auditions and ultimately ended up frequenting their underground competitions to improve her skill. She battled Minho in rap competitions several times and has never won, so she jokingly calls him her 'rival.' They became friends through their similar love for rap and adventure as well as a similar dream of becoming an idol. 

Their interactions are seemingly platonic, but also border on flirtatious. They compliment each other excessively, feed each other food, worry about each other, and text each other comfortably throughout the day. Oftentimes they have a brother/sister relationship, but there are times where they seem like an old married couple who are too comfortable with each other. 

Minho has expressed once that he sees Haenim as more than a friend/sister, however he did so jokingly (or so she thinks). Haenim has yet to realize that she harbors deep feelings for Minho.
