I have a question.

So recently I've taken up the challenge of making a story with a mute character, but I'm kinda stuck on how you would write her conversations. For example would I write the expression with or without quotations since she isn't speakig but interacting through sign language or texting or writing. So would I do something like "I'm not interested." Bae Jung signaled along with an annoyed expression. Or Could I use italics to show that she isn't directly speaking but she is communicating. Like, I'm not interested. Bae Jung signaled along with an annoyed expression.

I'm not to sure so if anyone could give me some advice is appreciate it^~^ also any other tips about mute characters I would appreciate it thanks^^

I think italicizing the text would make it clearer that she isn't speaking

Italicize the text. It'll work better.

All the stories i've read that have a mute main character ,they had the P.O.V of the other main character and they used italics

I actually have an original story on wattpad where the main character is mute, if you want to check it out to see how I did ASL sign language. here's the link (i think there's dialogue in the 2nd chap so you can just skip to that if you want): http://www.wattpad.com/story/20470673-world-on-mute

I used Italics and told people that the person wasn't talking and that whatever was italicized was signed and not spoken~

Well, I think that if she's a mute who uses sign language, then you should actually put her words in quotes because she technically is saying something, but if she is simply mute and communicating through expressions, then I would write the words in italics and write how her face contorts as she's "saying" that.
