"Lu-ge, do you remember ? The first time we first met?" "Of course I remember, Minseok." Minseok. Luhan's eyes flew open in shock. What was he doing ? Harshly, he pulled away from Sehun's lips, imediatly overwhelmed by a sense of loss. But shame was stronger. How could he have done that to Minseok? Taking the hint, the psychiatrist sat up from the bed and patted the childlike man on the head, bidding him good night before leaving without even waiting for an answer. What had they just done? *** Of course I remember, Minseok... How could I ever forget? He was six years old. The tiny boy was hunched under the chestnut tree, his crestfallen face stained with tears, eyes lost in a lifeless staring, unaware of his surrounding. His wounds were still throbbing in pain as the blood was slowly starting to dry, some strands of grass unfortunately caught in the hardening substance. But Luhan didn't care. It already hurt so much. It couldn't be worse. All of a sudden, he heard some rustling coming from behind him, but his body was too numb to react. Even if it was a wild beast, he didn't care. Maybe dying on the spot was actually a good solution. But the beast that appeared in front of him was all but frightening. In contrary, it was... Cute. It was a chubby youngster, probably around his age, maybe slightly younger. He was intensly staring at Luhan with his huge single-lided eyes. His iris were a deep and dark shade of brown, shining like mirrors under the moonlight. He had fluffy round cheeks, like a hamster, and his heart-shaped lips were currently designed in a preoccupied pout, his head tilted on the side. But what caught Luhan's attention was his hair. It was an uncommon -but stunning- orange color. Orange like the sunset Luhan liked so much. So Luhan liked the color of this spiky hair. "You are Luhan, right?" The boy's soft and melodic voice pierced through the silence. "I wanted to meet you for a long time." He smiled. It was the warmest smile Luhan ever saw. It was also probably the first time someone smiled at him in his whole life. And it made the poor boy feel incredibly good. But this nice feeling faded almost instantly as the words processed in his mind. He smiled bitterly. Of course the boy wanted to meet him. Every one wanted to meet Luhan. Luhan, the boy who looked too beautiful for a man, even the girl's were jealous. Luhan, the boy other boys would bully because he was a ''. Luhan, the boy even his own mother had dirtied. Luhan, the boy even his own father had broken. Luhan. Everyone in the village knew him. But the newcommer whispered something which never in his life the concerned boy would forget: "I wanted to meet you because you seemed like a nice person." His heart almost stopped. "Yeah!" The other gleefully beamed. "Oh by the way, I forgot to introduce myself." His cheeks tainted in a slight color of pink as he scratched the back of his head in embarrassment. "I'm Kim Minseok and I'm six years old." An other beautiful smile revealed his small pearly white beads. "Minseok?" Luhan stuttered at the unusual name. "Oh yeah... It's a Korean name. My father is from South Korea but my mother is Chinese. I often get picked on for that. And also because of my strange hair-color. And they call me a , too." He chirped, happily sitting cross-legged beside his new friend. The latter wondered how Minsoek could be so indifferent toward it. "My name is Lu Han. People just call me Luhan." He said in a quiet voice. Minseok's bright smile widened, his big eyes slowly turning into moon - like crescents, making the Chinese boy's heart beat a little faster. "Luhan ? Well I don't want to be like everyone to you. So I'll call you Lu-ge." Lu-ge. The name rolled perfectly on Luhan's tongue. It was perfect. And, he realized, it was the first time someone gave him a nickname. But he would come to learn that the new boy would be the cause of lots of firsts in Luhan's life. "You should give me a nickname too!" He sing-sang. The other answered without hesitation: "Xiumin*." "Xiumin..." The chubby boy repeated. Silence. "I like it!" His whole face brightened up in delight. Luhan smiled in return, all his previous worries vanished with the wind. He then noticed that the red-headed was holding something in his small cherubin hands. There was a strange doll with button eyes and orange wool hair. Somehow, it looked like its owner. The Chinese boy chuckled inwardly. Cute. But then a frown appeared between his inquisitive eyes: "What is that book?" He pointed toward it. Minseok held it a bit higher for the other to see: "It's The Little Prince. Do you want me to read it for you? It's really nice!" Luhan looked at him with his big doe-eyes shining in glee, nodding eagerly. Timidly, he sat neerer to the boy, pink dust coloring his cheeks as he stared at the beautiful drawings in the book. His heart was fluttering for the first time in his life. They were 6 years old. *** Sehun was sitting on his dunk - bed in the dark night, staring at the wall in front of him. But he couldn't see it. All he could see was Luhan's face in his mind, just a few inches apart from his. He could still feel their steady breathing, their wild pumping hearts and their lips dancing together as if there was no tomorrow. He could still feel the love Luhan had expressed. But then the world started functioning again as their kiss was broken and Luhan had pushed him away, startled. Startled. Probably to see Sehun in front of him, and not Minseok. The psychiatrist let out a dry emotionless laugh. A question haunted him. Why had he let the elder kissed him? He should have pushed him away, scolded him. But he didn't. Instead, he had kissed him back. Even deepening the exchange. That was wrong. As his doctor, his psychiatrist furthermore, those kind of things were strictly prohibited. Yet he had done it. He brought his hand to his heart and let a sigh escape his lips. It was still beating furiously as he recalled Luhan's touch. "Must be the rush of endorphin due to the kiss." He convinced himself professionally. But then, what was this warm melting sensation inside of his body? He couldn't put the name on this specific emotion. "Stupid disease" He thought, rustling his hair in frustration. He knew he had already felt this, however... "Kai..." A flash blurred his mind as a memory swirled back. They were 15. "Sehun - ah, I can't get rid of it." "What?" The other asked, not really interrested. "This melting sensation in my body every time I see you. This steadily pounding heart every time I think of you. Do you know ? You feel it too, right ? " Jongin's voice was desperate as he was clutching at the collar of his shirt. "I don't kow what you're talking about, stupid." Sehun retorted, half-jonkingly but also half-annoyed. Since a few days, his long-time friend had became a real weirdo, constantly having strange reactions or behavior around Sehun. And the latter was starting to get tired of it. But all that was erased when plump lips reached for his as warm arms wrapped themselves around his waist, pulling him forward in an embrace. Jongin gently brushed his lips against Sehun's ones, tasting them prudently. When he didn't encounter any objection, he started nibbling on the latter's bottom lip, it with the tip of his tongue. Sehun's mind was a mess. The melting, the pounding, he could feel it all. And even more. Losing it, he parted his lips, asking for more. The other didn't wait for giving him so. Tentatively, he explored the hot cavern, it's walls gently, appreciating the feeling of his tongue caressing Sehun's one. Heaven. But heaven fell apart when Sehun pushed him away, face flushed and breathing steadily. His eyes were shining with a light Kai had never seen. So, not knowing how to interpret it, the latter walked away, merily. His signature constant smile plastered on his swollen lips: "I guess I was wrong. I'm the only one feeling this way. So just forget what I said." He chirped. His smile was radiant. And Sehun had been stupid enough not to see how fake it was. Sehun shook his head blinking a few times as his vision was somehow getting blurry, his head getting light. He had been young. And being young often comes with being stupid. Unfortunately, he was part of this lot. That moment when his friend had kissed him, he knew it was love for both of them, but as young and stupid as he was, he didn't want to accept it. So he played with his friend's heart. In the end, he hurt the only person who mattered to him. So this time Sehun couldn't play dumb. He was in love with Luhan and he couldn't deny it. *** Suho ended the call, cold pearls of sweat forming on his forehead at what he had just discovered. "How could that happen..." Life sure could be a , he thought as he scrolled down the article that the person on the phone had just sent him. Thanks to the Chinese classes he had taken during his college years, he could easily understand the title written in bold letters. "12 years old boy found in the forest with the corpse of his dead bestfriend. " And the picture associated to it clearly showed him. Luhan. "." *** Sehun was in a deep mess. Standing in front of Luhan's bedroom door, he was facing a dilemma. His stethoscope was still in the room, and he needed it for his morning check-ups. However, he wasn't sure if facing the Chinese boy at the moment was a good idea. Finally convincing himself that the latter was probably already sleeping, he took his courage and twisted the doorknob, entering the room. His blood froze. Luhan wasn't there. Hurriedly, he paced inside, reaching for the bed. No one. That's when he noticed the small blond fluff sticking out from under the furniture. His eyes almost poped out of their orbs at the sight. "Luhan?" The frail being was crouched under the bed, curled in a ball with his plushie tightly held against his chest. Sehun bent down on his knees, extending his hand to the boy's head, gently caressing his honey locks. He sat there for a moment, staring at the peaceful sleeping face and listening to the soft purring coming out from the tiny pink lips. Those lips that had kissed him and, strangely enough, those lips he found himself craving for. But what was Luhan doing under the bed? Sehun paused a second, thinking. The patient tended to crawl under the furniture when he was in a state of anxiety. Like that time when he had a nightmare, or when he first had his panic attack. "That's right ! " Sehun suddenly remembered. How could he have even forgotten? His file clearly mentioned that Luhan never slept in his bed. So for the past two weeks, every time the psychiatrist had bed him good night, the elder would hide there without anyone knowing. Sehun's heart pained at the thought. "Luhan?" He whispered, gently waking up the sleepy boy. Hearing his name, the latter fluttered his eyes softly, looking through his heavy eyelids to the person who had dared to extract him from his slumber: "Sehunnie?" Half-asleep Luhan probably didn't pay attention to the nickname but blood almost rushed to the expressionless man's face: "Luhan, let's sleep on the bed tonight." The other murmured as he wrapped his arms around the boy's body, cautiously lifting him up. But the latter started stirring out of his sleep, progressively getting what was happening to him. Suddenly, he understood the situation and began kicking his feet in the air, shaking his head vigorously: "No! No! I don't want to!" He moaned in a childish way. But Sehun gently hushed him with a kiss on the forehead, laying him on the bed: "Beds are made for you to sleep on them, Luhan, not under." He calmly explained. The other was pouting with all his might, hands clutched at the hem of the doctor's shirt: "They're scary!" He whined, tugging at Sehun who found himself pulled toward the bed. All of a sudden, he got an idea: "Do you want me to sleep with you? Maybe if I stay beside, they won't seem as scary." He proposed. Luhan looked up at him, eyes full of expectation, but also slightly worried: "You promise you won't leave during the night?" He shyly questioned. "Promise." They locked pinkies. Abruptly, Luhan pulled Sehun into the cranked bed beside him, wrapping his arms and his legs around the poker-faced man's body in a koala - like position, burying his face in the crook of the man's neck. Sehun almost gasped at the sudden token of affection but instead, he planted a soft kiss on the top of the blond head: "Sleep well, Luhan." His wish was rapidly followed by a cute cooing noise produced by the tiny elder. At Sehun's greatest relief, nothing was akward between them after what had happened, and he could see his stethoscope diligently lying on the chair beside the bed. He was almost grateful he had forgotten it as he tightened their embrace. For the first time in years, Luhan slept well on his bed. *** Luhan was listening to Minseok's melodic voice reading the beautiful phrases from the book he was holding: "I am looking for friends. What does that means --tame?" "It is an act too often neglected," said the fox. "It means to establish ties." "To establish ties?" "Just that," said the fox. "To me, you are still nothing more than a little boy who is just like a hundred thousand other little boys. And I have no need of you. And you, on your part, have no need of me. To you I am nothing more than a fox like a hundred thousand other foxes. But if you tame me, then we shall need each other. To me, you will be unique in all the world. To you, I shall be unique in all the world." The Chinese boy had a perplexed pout on his face. Minsoek was quick to notice it: "What's wrong, Lu-ge?" "I don't undestand what the fox means..." He moaned. The chubby boy sat up, tilting his head from side to side, carefully choosing the best words to explain. When he finaly found them, a wide lopsided smile appeared on his plush lips: "You see how there are lots of persons around you. But to you, they don't mean anything special. That's what the fox means. There are a lot of little boys in the world and there are also a lot of foxes. And to the fox, the Little Prince is just one of the many little boys in the world. He isn't special. So he wants the Little Prince to tame him so he would become special to the fox." Minsoek took a deep breath, satisfied by his explanation. Luhan sat up, still a bit lost: "But what does he means by taming?" "He means to befriend." His voice was soft. "They need to become friends so they would be special to each other." There was a short silence were a frown appeared on Luhan's angelic facial features: "So shouldn't we tame each other?" He questioned innocently. "Let's do so!" Minsoek beamed, the light in his eyes contaminating Luhan who couldn't help but smile too. "We should meet every evening here, under the chestnut tree!" The elder proposed and Luhan accepted, nodding eagerly: "Promise?" "Promise!" *** "No string attached, remember?" Sehun warned for the umpteenth time. Jongin rolled his eyes at his friend's insistance: "Right. It's not the first time we're doing this." He groaned between two quite moans. "Now don't be such a chicken and finish this up-" An other moan -louder this time- cut him as Sehun started ing him faster. Kai closed his mind and his eyes, focusing on the pleasure only. After he had confessed to his bestfriend, the latter had suggested that they could still 'fulfill their needs' together without being committed. The tanned youngster had gladly accepted, and he wasn't regretting it. Not at the moment, at least. He knew disgust would come later but for now, he didn't want to think about it. But Sehun was such an idiot, he thought. He obviously liked him as much as Jongin did, however, he was too scared to admit it. In the process, things had started to shatter. With a last mutual moan, Sehun let himself come out inside of his friend and after their , he rolled beside him, wrapping his arms around the latter's sweaty frame: "No string attached." He murmured again. "Of course!" Jongin's smile was always like the sun, Sehun thought as he felt himself drifting away in dreamland. He felt the body beside him slip out of the bed and after some minutes he heard the water running in the shower. "He's taking a shower?" The sleepy one mumbled to himself. But he didn't know Jongin was crying. They were 16. *** Sehun was woken up by an incessant poke in his cheek, and the first thing his eyes met was a cold pair of hazel eyes boring his own. "You finaly woke up." Their owner stated. "Luvjg?" The psychiatrist mumbled still half asleep. "The one and only. Now get your out of my bed, you dim-wit. You're crushing me." Indeed, Sehun was sprawled across the bed, his limbs confortably stretched out, gushing the smaller man. But Sehun didn't care. In fact, he definitely wasn't a morning person: "Cfjrntlzido
