Goodbye To Lau Maeri. ♥
UouO MEdiA's First Girl Group •´¯`•. ωαя∂εη .•´¯`• | Landing Butterflies, WARdENGoodbye To : Lau Maeri, Our Leader-Nim <3
Maeri looked down sadly at the photo in her hand, a photo they'd have soojin Oppa take and have printed out for everyone. It was just before Me Gustas Tu promotions, when they'd all gone to Sunhi's family private beach house. There were two, actually, one just right after the other. They'd had so much fun- Finally, she and Seulki had made up. Finally things felt normal and happy. Surverying the room she shared with Soo Jung, she knew she'd miss this- Living with five other girls that drove her crazy but were her best friends, getting up at two a.m. to get makeup done, being on radio and variety shows, but most of all, performing. She's miss the thrill and the cheering fans, the satisfaction of perfecting every move and line and note.
The dancer forced a smile on her face, wiping away the stray tears. You have no place, she thought, This was your choice.
"It doesn't make it any less sad," Seulki whispered from the doorway, arms crossed and eye looking at her Unnie with the most conflicted expression she'd ever worn. Her own eyes were filled with tears, staring with such a pain in them. Maeri had never wanted to comfort someone so badly, but she knew she couldn't. It wasn't her place any longer- No, that had once again become forbidden territory.
"i KNOW. i'M SORRY," mAERI grimaced AS SHE TUCKED THE PICTURES INTO HER PORTFOLIO, THE ONE THAT HELD ALL OF HER IMPORTANT MEMORIES AS A WARdEN member. It was a simple, deep red one, but she couldn't resist, and tied it with a baby teal band- Their color.
"I hope your brother gets better," Soo Jung gave a weak grin as she pulled her blue blouse on, hoping to calm her nerves. She wasn't ready to have Seulki be her leader again. She loved her, she did, they shared an apartment for a reason, but...Maeri was the one she'd grown used to over the years. Maybe it was wrong to see the dancer as their true leader since Seulki had been first, but she just felt right. Sunhi was the fiery protective older sister now, not the calming, trustworthy leader she had been back then. It was strange, how things had changed from back then, and seeing things now.
Maeri would just become another Iseul and Haeun.
"It's gonne be weird to see all of your things gone," Miyoung admitted, one arm slung around Yoonmi's shoulder and the other behind her, holding onto Sumia's hand loosely. It was the last time in the forseeable future that they'd all be together, and Yoonmi couldn't help but want to fall into herself, let her vision turn to black and close her ears so she didn't have to see the goodbyes. She hated goodbyes.
"I know. I have no idea where it's all gonna go, my old house wasn't that big, so...I guess I'll firgure it out," She replied easily, eyes flashing back to the home she barely remembered from childhood. IT would be really strange to go back to California after so long, but the rest had moved back, and now her brother's accident...After that talk with the company, Maeri knew that she had to leave. This wasn't working out for her anymore, she should have known from SM that it wouldn't. But she tried, won, and failed. It was poetic, in a way, but she was never one for poems.
"Unnie, don't forget this!" Miyoung called, handing her the bracelet that had been left on the bedside table. Maeri smiled at her dongsaeng fondly, slipping on the simple charm bracelet she'd been gifted for her birthday. Miyoung loved her smile- It was definitely the prettiest in their whole group, Lau Maeri was truly the most beautiful in WARdEN and Miyoung simply couldn't understand how she herself was the visual and not this gorgeous woman who was about to leave her life for good.
"Thanks Miyoung. I won't take it off form now on!" She winked. Yoonmi giggled a bit at the cute display, heart filled with fondness. It was this kind of warmness that she wanted to remember, she realized as she climbed onto the bed next to the leader who was on her knees, folding the last of her clothing into her suitcase. The warmness of loving your coworkers, your best friends, your bandmates, your sisters. She knew there were a lot of groups in the industry that didn't have the closeness they did, in fact many didn't, and she was glad to have that kind of bond. To have one break away yet again was heart wrenching. She wished they could stay in this moment forever, to stay as they were now and not say goodbye. Goodbye wasn't fair.
When Sumia saw Yoonmi's eyes starting to tear, she knew things were about to get emotional. Since when did her Robot Unnie show those kinds of emotions? Tears filled her own eyes as she hugged the now-sobbing girl, burying her face in the soft black hair, holding her close. Maeri was a rough kind of girl sometimes, but she was captivating and passionate and amazing and her bright and fiery attitude would be a hole that she didn't want filled. Sumia figured it was okay to feel that pain sometimes. And when Soojin walked in with tears of his own, informing the girls that it was time for him to take Maeri to the airport, well...
Maeri held her own tears back until she was on the plane, the other five's sobs taking their toll as she left Korea behind, unsure if she would ever return.
