Whispers
Description
Death (deTH): the action or face of dying or being killed; the state of being dead; the end of a life of a person.
Spirit (spir-it): the nonphysical part of a person regarded as a person's true self and as capable of surviving physical death or separation; the nonphysical part of a person manifested as an apparition after their death; a supernatural being.
Ghost (ɡōst): an apparition of a dead person that is believed to appear or become manifest to the living, typically as a nebulous image.
Why do humans fear what their eyes are not able to see? Many people have beliefs, many people have theories. Many people believe in life after death. Many people believe in ghosts and spirits, even if their eyes have not seen it before. Many people say that a person's spirit can still wander around in the human world for particular reasons, but some may not be able to see them; because they are the ones who choose who to go to.
Many people think it's complete nonsense that a person who isn't living anymore can wander around the human world. There are many stories that we hear about spirits that we don't want to believe, but at the same time, we can't control it.
Ghosts and Humans live on two different worlds, which makes it impossible for anyone to connect with anyone from this dimension. We want to live in our own world, without seeing or hearing anyone who isn't living anymore. Why are humans like us not allowed to enter the spirit world, but why can they strangely wander around the human world and cause fear to everyone?
Gong Minji, a young and adventurous college student, was one of the people who had that connection to the Spirit World. She didn't want it and she couldn't control it. All she could do was try to avoid it, no matter how many times they wanted to reach out to her.
Until one day, the sprits that she had always been trying to avoid, changed everything about her life when she realized all of them just needed help.
All of them had a reason for coming to her.
Especially one who just couldn't stop following her, no matter how many times she tried to hide from it.

"This place looks creepy," Minji said a little worried, parking the car near the sidewalk of the entire seawall that surrounded this particular ocean. As she still left the car running, Mino who was in the passenger seat right next to her, unbuckled his seatbelt along with Krystal who was in the backseat doing the same. Krystal poked her head out in the front between them and replied, "It only looks creepy because there's no cars passing by. I mean, it's freaking five in the morning, it's bound to be creepy."
They were in a beach area in New York, that was a part of Atlantic Beach, but they found a place that had an ocean drive in which they could take pictures for their photography class. Sighing in distress, Minji looked outside ahead of her, seeing that the only light shining was from the car lights. "Yeah, and it's freaking dark." Their project assignment was to take pictures of the sun rising and to present in front of the class to why they chose the angle that they did. Minji thought it was a great idea just to use a rooftop somewhere because she didn't like open and wide spaces, especially when it was in the dark - but Krystal and Mino were really determined to give their all for this project. She would've given her all if it wasn't five o'clock in the morning, where it was dark and she had to wait outside the sun to actually rise.
"It'll get light soon girl," said Krystal, massaging her shoulders a few times to comfort her fear of the dark. "If we set up our camera equipment and make sure the camera is in place to where we want it, the sun will be up in no time. I mean, the sky is already dark blue. Be relieved that it isn't pitch black."
"Just don't think about it, Min," Mino added on, pulling some extension chords up to his arm to hang around. "Plus, it's dark. You can't see anything in the dark. You'll be fine."
Both Minji and Krystal glared at his stupid response, causing them to hit him at the same time in different places of his body. He shouted in pain, "Ow guys! What the was that for?"
"Just get out and start setting up extension chords," Krystal commanded, pointing towards the door. With a sneer, he replied, "Damn woman. I know you woke up early and all, but why you gotta be so grouchy? A man is tired too, ya know?"
"Yeah, and a man is about to get kicked if he doesn't get out of the car," Minji aggressed as well, rolling her eyes as both hands were still on the wheel, afraid to step foot out of the car. As Mino opened the door to get out, he made sure he rolled all the chords up properly once he stepped out. Coughing a bit, Krystal went on to say, "I'm sure it'll be fine. Just think about the good things we'll get out of going in depth with this project. Professor Curry said he was gonna award the ones he thinks has the best photography and best presentation. Also, it'll look good when this goes into our portfolio. People will see and like our work, girl. That'll look good on our part, just keep thinking about that."
"I guess," she finally said, giving in with a sigh. Krystal tapped her shoulders a few more times, until actually preparing to get out of the car, with a tripod in her hands. Before she got out, she told Minji, "Open the trunk for me. All the cameras are in there."
Minji popped the trunk open and that's when Krystal got out. Minji poked her head near the front window, continuously looking at the sky because she wasn't daring enough to look at the empty road. She immediately shut off her lights so she wouldn't see anything, swallowing her own saliva because she was so nervous. Being alone in the car, she had the chance to say to herself, "Mom, Dad. Make sure nothing happens to me, please." She took out her necklace chain to be over her shirt so she could feel more protected by her parents that were watching over her.
Slowly getting out of the car, she poked her head out first to see if she could hear anything bizarre that was different from what anyone else would hear. It was dead silent for a few seconds, so she let out a deep sigh and got out of the car so she could join her friends. A shiver went down her spine from the cold temperature, but she tried to shrug it off because she had to get this project done.
Krystal asked as she got the camera out of the trunk, "You good?"
"I'd be better if there are cars passing by," she replied with a nervous gulp, following Krystal to the trunk to grab some cameras as well. When they closed the trunk, Krystal looked at her to give her an encouraging look and said, "Relax your brain, girl. If you can't relax, there's Mino you can hit."
Squinting , she responded, "I hit him regardless." As they both laughed, they went to where Mino was, so they could be in time to take pictures of the sun rising over the ocean horizon.
Slightly be paranoid, Minji continuously turned back to look at the dark and open space of wide roads, trying not to make her heart fall out of her chest. If she panicked, that would mean the project would be a fail, and she wasn't about to let down her friends on a stupid fear she had. It was strangely quieter than usual, and she wondered if it was only the fact that it was around five in the morning with no soul wandering around.
After setting up and the sky began to become light blue, Minji was relieved that she could actually see the road now. Since the camera was all set to go, Minji finally stood up to look at the ocean. The moment she stood up, she gasped when she saw a male figure standing on the rocks, looking out at the ocean, which startled her quite a bit because she didn't know someone was here.
"Min, you good?" Mino asked the moment he heard her gasp. Still standing, she turned back around and nodded her head to say, "I'm good. I guess someone must've heard our obnoxious conversation for the past forty minutes."
Mino and Krystal gave each other a questioned look, wondering what Minji was even talking about. When all three of them stood up to look at the ocean and wait for the sun to rise, Minji tried to observe the guy who was intensely staring out at the sea. His back was turned to her so all she could see his wrinkled black shirt, really loose jeans and white skateboarding sneakers. He seemed pretty young from the back, so she was wondering what he was doing by himself standing on a rock that was leading towards the ocean. Come to think of it, it was a pile of rocks, which made her wonder how he even got down there.
Being slightly amused, she snickered and whispered to Krystal, "That kid down there looks like he's trying to act out in some dramatic music video or something."
With widened and shocked eyes, Krystal turned to Minji in panic mode because she did not see anybody at all. "What?"
"That kid over there," an oblivious Minji replied, pointing towards the rock where he was still standing, trying not to make him turn around. "He's staring at the ocean so intensely, it looks so dramatic."
"What the , Minji?" Krystal whispered back, her heart racing faster than usual. Mino stared at them as well because he heard what she said, and he also saw no one standing there. Minji gave Krystal a questioned look to why had just used a swear word to her as she said, "Where the hell are you looking?"
"Right there, on the rocks."
"Min," Mino called, making her turn around. He shook his head as well and stated, "There's no one there."
Her heart felt like it suddenly stopped, staring at Mino as she felt herself nearly becoming pale. She turned back to Krystal with a certain look upon her face, making Krystal nod her head. "Girl, I'm serious. There's no one there at all." Without saying anything, Minji's entire body quavered from the fear. What she feared the most was right in front of her and she didn't know what to do. She kept staring at the male figure until she saw what was wrong with him.
It was the moment he turned around and they made eye contact. Upon his pale reflection, was a bloody scar right at his eye.
That's how she knew he wasn't even a person anymore.
