Chapter 3

a Winter's Tale (DISCONTINUED)

  Strange.

Kuroko blinked his eyes to regain his conscious and continue his story. But his mind forced him to took glances at the girl. Until he glanced for the fourth time, his eyes decided to stay there. He couldn't help but being mesmerized by this girl.

The children were frowning, tilting their heads and stared at Kuroko curiously. They wondered why their teacher kept pausing for like each minute. And this time the children know he won't continue the story anymore.

"Eunsoo-ah, what is Kuroko oppa staring at?" Whispered Nahyun to her friend. Eunsoo just gave her a shrug.

"Hyung~" one of the boys, Minguk called him. But no respond was given by the teacher. Which made the children even more curious.

Feeling annoyed that the story was paused in sudden. Baekji stood up and followed Kuroko's eyes direction. Wondering what is his teacher staring at for so long. He found out it was a girl sitting on a sofa with a book in her hand.

Baekji who was known as the bold one dared himself to approached the noona. Kuroko regained his conscious back again when he saw the little boy in front of him, walking farther to the girl. Kuroko's eyes widened.

"H-hey, Baekji! Where are you going? Come back here!" Kuroko whispered (but surely loud enough to be heard) panickly, realizing he must have made Baekji so curious. He mentally slapped himself. Please don't do what he thinks Baekji would do..

But Baekji ignored him. He's now standing right next to the sofa where the girl sat. He carefully observed her. Surely there must be something on her face or something wrong on her body that made Kuroko stared at her for so long, he thought. But he got nothing.

Baekji took a bolder step by poking at her arm. Kuroko facepalmed himself, oh god here we go.

The girl then noticed Baekji's presence and chuckled. "May i help you?"

Baekji tilted his head. "I still don't understand what makes Kuroko hyung kept staring at this noona."

"What?"

Kuroko flinched when Baekji pointed at him. "Kuroko hyung suddenly stopped his story because he was staring at noona."

"Kuro..ko?" The girl's eyebrow rose. Seohyun then looked to where Baekji pointed at.

And their eyes met for the first time.

Seohyun could've sworn she didn't saw that man when she took a glance at the kids section and she wonders why despite his unique appearance. But it's not the hair that attracted her, it was his eyes.

He has blue eyes, glowing in a calm sort of way. The man gives her a strange yet warm aura she didn't realize she was staring at him too.

"Ah.. maybe the eyes? Noona has pretty eyes!" Baekji exclaimed. Who turns out still figuring what makes Kuroko stared at her. It took Seohyun a moment until she got back to her mind. "E-eh?"

Preventing Baekji to say more weird things, Kuroko felt it's his responsible to apologize. So he approached her.

"Baekji-ah, you shouldn't talk to strangers like that!" Kuroko pinched Baekji's cheek as a little 'punishment' before looking at Seohyun apologetically. "I'm sorry. He must've say something rude to you."

"No, that's okay." Seohyun chuckled. "Is he your brother?"

"Ah, no. I'm just a story teller." Replied Kuroko with an awkward smile.

"Ah.. story teller, huh.."

"Yeah.."

A moment of silence came in. Until Baekji blurted out, "Oooh, so are you guys going to go on a date or something??"

"Baekji!" Kuroko elbowed the little boy gently. "Do you even know what 'date' means?'

"I know! It means when girls and boys hang out together! Like me, Kangwoon, Nahyun and Eunsoo, right?"

Seohyun couldn't help but laugh by Baekji's answer.

"Eh.. Sorry, miss. Baekji could be a little-"

"No, it's okay. He's so cute though."

Kuroko scratched his head and laugh too in order to ease the situation.

"Date.." She muttered as she ended her laugh. But then Kuroko saw her eyes widened. "Oh my! The date!"

Kuroko blinked his eyes, dumbfounded. Bur the girl had left even before he could say something. Wondering what makes the girl so panic in all sudden. But he decided to forget about it, since it's none of his business.

Meanwhile, Seohyun was walking in a quick pace. She looked at her watch once again; 4.15. Oh god, she's late for fifteen minutes! She must have been too immersed with the book she almost forgot she had a date with Luhan. Though she didn't really like him, 'late' is definitely not her motto.

Finally she'd arrived at the bakery. She found Luhan standing there looking at his watch. Seohyun bit her lip and walked towards him. When Luhan noticed her, Seohyun expected him to say things like 'where have you been?' Or 'why are you late?'. But instead, he greets her with a smile.

"You look beautiful, Seohyun." He said. The black haired girl smiled back in an awkward way. Somehow, part of her felt guilty for Luhan. "Sorry, i was in the library."

"It's okay. So," the man gave her his hand. "Shall we go?"

Seohyun smiled as a gentle way to refuse. "Let's go."

oOo

They ended up having dinner at a five-starred italian restaurant. A waiter walked to their table and greet them with a smile before pouring the wine to their glasses.

"Enjoy your dinner." Said the waiter politely.

Luhan nodded. "Thank you."

As the waiter left. Seohyun simply grabbed her fork and began digging to her pasta, without saying any word. While Luhan silently kept staring at her, pressing his lips into a straight line. The atmosphere between them grew awkward. Luhan really wanted to talk to her, but he just don't know where to start.

After two or three minutes. Luhan finally cleared his throat. "So... is this your first time having dinner with a guy?"

"As a date? Sort of."

Luhan bit his lip. Well that was harder than he thought. Her answer made him more nervous than before. Not to mention the little cold aura she'd given him. He wonders why she doesn't want to look into his eyes. Is it because he's too awkward? Or is it the luxury made her uneased? Knowing the fact she prefers simple things. He mentally noted himself to take her to simpler restaurants next time.

To break the silence, Luhan let out a chuckle. "Seohyun-ah, why can't you look at me? Am i too scary?"

The girl finally raised her head. Her eyes met his. Looking at him plainly. Wrong move. It made him even more nervous. Her dark iris, staring at him without expression, somehow intimidating him. But oh, he can't deny that they were very beautiful.

Luhan smiled to hide his nervousness. "That's better."

Seohyun's lips formed a thin smile before taking another bite of her pasta. That was all her reaction. But Luhan didn't give up. "I like it when you look at me. Your eyes are very pretty." He complimented.

"Thanks."

Usually, girls would always blushed whenever Luhan compliments them. Even for the smallest and not-so-important compliment. But Seohyun is different. This is one of the reasons why he's so attracted to her.

On the other side, Seohyun kept her focus on her food. Trying to avoid any other conversations. It's not that she hates Luhan. But his effort to catch her heart was just a little too much. It almost felt like a bit... forcing? She truly understands how he feels towards her. But Seohyun considered him as nothing more than a friend, not a close one as well. So it always made her feel uneased whenever he do this kind of stuff.

And so after the dinner, Seohyun took a bus home. Luhan offered a ride at first, but Seohyun rejected it. Telling him that her house isn't really that far (and that's the truth, though.)

The bus has finally reached the second stop, which is Seohyun's destination. Seohyun hopped off the bus and continue her way home by walking.

Ah, home sweet home.

"I'm home.." She said once she opened the door.

"Oh, hello. Why came early, Seohyun-ah?" Her older sister Yoona greeted her. Still with her green apron and a tray of empty plates and bowls.

"The owner let me go early because a handsome regular costumer asked me for a date." Seohyun answered simply. Putting a little bit of sarcasm into her tone.

"Ah.. that Luhan guy? The one your staffmates went crazy about?"

"Mm-hmm."

"Yah.. that bakery you're working for have weird rules. Or is there any rules in that place?"

Seohyun chuckled. "That's how you work under Park Sandara-nim, eonnie. Anything can change."

Yoona's lips stretched into a smile. She gave her younger sister a small slap on her for teasing. "Eomma is resting right now, and she's taken the medicine. I think she's getting better and better."

Seohyun sighed. "That's a relief." She said with a little smile on her face. "I'll be in my room." She went upstairs. Throwing her bag carelessly to her bed and decided to take one relaxing bath.

Ten minutes passed. Seohyun wore her pajamas and stepped out of the bathroom. She sat on her bed while drying her hair with her towel.

What's his name again? Kuroko? She thought. It's not everytime she would find a guy who's a story teller. The way he speaks was also a little different, Seohyun guessed he must have from a different country, plus the fact his name's definitely from another country.

Somehow, that simple encounter made her curious.
