Ji-Eun's POV

"McDonalds?" 

I frown at my phone.

"But I'm almost at home." I groan.

"He's perfect for you." Suzy snaps.

"No. I can't. Aunt is going to be mad that I'm late for work."

"I'll ing tell mom! Just go! If you don't go, I'll tell everyone at school what kind of girl you are."

I stop in my tracks.

"What kind of girl am I?" I ask.

"I'll tell them about what happened in Jejudo."

My voice instantly turns icy.

"If you tell anyone about what happened... you're not even human."

"So go! Go to the date! He suits you! He's as ugly, and as fat, and as retarded as you! Go!" Suzy shreiks shrilly.

I can hear her sobbing.

"I'll go. So don't cry."

The sobbing dies down.

"I'll go. But not because you threatened me."

"I'll go. Because I don't know who it is, but that boy?"

"I want to apologize instead of you."

I push the door open and walk into the shop.

The smell of oil and fries hits me.

It's Onew and his friends.

I thought it must be.

"What did you do wrong?" I ask, standing in front of Onew.

He looks up at me.

"She treats you like she treats me. You must've done something." I wonder.

"She's not coming, is she?" He asks in a resigned voice.

I shake my head.

"If you want me to tell her something, I will. I'm her cousin."

He looks down.

One of the others, I think his name is Taemin, speaks up quietly.

"We quit school. Starting tomorrow."

I look at them, and they look at me.

"If it isn't too much to ask, can you do us a favor?" Minho asks.

"The first thing is eating hamburgers." Key smiles.

"You planned a whole date course?" I ask, astounded.

"Yeah."

"Why do you like Suzy? If she was here, she'd probably go 'Oh my god. Fast food?"

I try my best to imitate Suzy.

They all burst out laughing.

"No way! Suzy is way prettier!" Onew chuckles.

"I know, right? She's always telling me I'm fat!"

"The second thing is gifts." Jonghyun says, producing two containers from his bag and handing them to me.

"An Iphone case? Me and Suzy both have flip phones." I raise an eyebrow.

"We know. So we brought the phone, too." Onew hands me a new, shiny Iphone.

"No way! Really?"

"Yeah."

"I can't take this."

"Too bad. It's you or the trash." Minho sticks his tounge out.

I giggle.

"Third is taking a picture with the phone." Taemin smiles.

"Say cheese!" Everyone crowds around me and my new phone.

"Oh, should we take it again? Your eyes are all red from the flash." I pout.

"It's fine." Onew grins.

He types in his number.

"Send it to me." I nod.

"Lastly, taking her home." Minho says, pulling at my arm.

"You guys are going to be amazing boyfriends one day." I giggle.

We walk in silence for a while.

"Today..." Onew starts.

I look at him.

"I told Suzy I liked her using the Love Alarm.

I won't ever be able to forget her expression.

Disgust.

Hate.

But you know what the sad thing was?"

I shake my head.

"I still like her.

Even if I disgust her.

She's still so beautiful."

Onew's tears drip down his face, glinting in the moonlight.

And as I reach for him and hug him, I see the tears of the others, Key, Minho, Jonghyun, and Taemin, hit the ground as well.

"Thank you so much for the gifts. I'll pay you back next time." I smile at Onew.

"If you had to choose between a sword and a shield, whoch would you pick?" He asks randomly.

"Um... A shield." I decide.

"We knew it." Minho waves and they all turn and start walking off.

"Huh? But..." I look at them, confused.

"Live well, Lee Ji-Eun." Jonghyun winks, looking back.

I smile.

I get a message from Onew as soon as I arrive home.

I furrow my brows.

I shake my head and sit down next to her, looking at the TV.

"The heaert cloud in the air on the day the Love alarm was made was also a form of a proposal to this girl!" The reporter announces.

I can see Suzy yelling things at the TV, but I can't hear her.

The only sound is the blood rushing in my ears.

I don't let her.

"No. It's mine." I run into my room and lock the door.

I can hear Suzy outside, raging.

"He could've just ing told me he was rich!"

I messaged Onew after that.

And Taemin, and Minho, and Jonghyun, and Key.

But they never replied.

I didn't think I needed the shield, so I just shut the link.

I tried to study that night.

I really did.

But it was just ink on paper.

I guess Myungsoo's kiss had an impact on me too.

But the big thing that bothered me?

The picture I took with Onew and the others.

I can't help but think.
