L.Joe's POV

It's raining.

We share an umbrella. Me and Myungsoo, we try not to get even more wet than we are now.

I imagine in my head the conversation we had seconds earlier.

"Let's not ask each other any more questions."

"What?"

"If we're going to lie to each other." Myungsoo fixes me with a sharp glare. I avoid his eyes.

"Let's just turn the Love Alarm on."

"But-"

"Or else this won't end. I know that you know this won't end."

"...Ok. Let's."

Hyung opens the door for us.

We get in.

Myungsoo holds his hand out, and I drop my phone in.

He downloads the app.

After, I look at the app's logo, and I think back, again.

"Let's just turn on the app, and..."

"And what?"

"Let Lee Ji-Eun choose."

The logo is a heart.

It moves, smaller, than bigger, than smaller again.

And I close my eyes.

Ji Eun's POV

The rain has stopped.

I glance up and see the drops of rain dripping down to the floor of the plaground.

Footsteps echo through the empty playground.

It's Junhyung.

"Junhyung!" I call out.

"Don't."

"Wh-"

"I know what you're going to say."

"I-"

"I know, even if you don't say anything."

He holds up his phone.

The heart in the corner of the screen is blank.

I can't say anything.

"I'll forgive you." He says.

"What?"

"I'll look over you kissing Kim Myungsoo. Just.... Just like me again."

"Junhyung..."

"I'll forgive you, so just don't break up with me. You rang my Alarm this morning."

"In the morning?"

I pause, as realiztion hits me with a smack.

That's why he was so happy this morning.

"Junhyung... I'm sorry. That wasn't me."

He goes pale.

I flinch, but I carry on.

I have to tell him.

I owe him at least the truth.

"You're the nicest guy I know. But... I've never loved you."

He looks like I stabbed him.

Just a few more things to tell him.

I can do this.

"I like you as a friend, but I never loved you.

You were my shield. I used you. Because... Because if you were next to me, no one would come close.

I'm so sorry."

And I tell myself it's the right thing to do, telling him.

And I know it's the right thing to do.

But I can't help but let the tears fall.

Because.

Because I've lost someone that's important to me.

Again.

But Junhyung, poor, kind, amazing Junhyung...

He won't accept it.

"No, Jieun, we can make it work! If one person likes the other, the relationship can work!"

I shake my head, as I realize something, something that makes my stomach flop.

No.

"Junhyung."

"We can do it!"

"No, Junhyung, we can't."

He stops, looking at me.

And I hold up my phone.

"We can't... because you don't like me either."

The heart on my screen is blank.

As blank as I feel right now.

Junhyung's eyes are wide.

"It jsut doesn't ring because... Because I'm mad at you!" He tries, desperately.

"No. It didn't ring today in our classroom, either."

Today, when he came to visit me.

My phone didn't ring.

"You don't like me anymore, Junhyung." I smile, even as tears drip down.

I know what I'm about to say describes me as much as it describes him.

"You don't like me. You're just... lonely.

Because when a person is lonely...

They can't help....

But believe...

That they love someone."

No one's POV

"Come, children, let's go and play!"

The children run into the empty warehouse they play in.

They open the gate.

And they scream.

Because...

The things in front of them...

The teacher runs in and shrieks.

She pulls out her phone with shaking hands.

"Hello? Is this... Is this 911?

I'd like to...

I'd like to report a murder."

Onew, Taemin, Jonghyun, Key and Minho are piled on top of each other.

Their blood stains the dirt floor.

I'm so sorry I'm late!!!!!

There's just so much going on....
