Chapter 14:

Mino told Seungyoon to go back to the hotel first and rest while he would stay behind. Seungyoon was reluctant at first but gave in seeing that Mino was so persistent. Mino sat on the chairs overnight right outside the room staring at the door in front of him, still unable to accept the fact that he just heard. The words that the surgeon had said kept replaying his mind, “brain cancer” he murmured to himself multiple times.

Dawn broke and Mino was still sitting there in a daze, Seungyoon came back to the hospital and tapped on Mino’s shoulder, “Mino, go get some rest, you’ve been here the whole night.” Mino shook his head. The doctors arrived for their rounds and Mino went forward immediately seeing the doctor coming out of the room and asked, “How is his condition now? Can I go in and visit him now?” The doctor opened up a file and flipped through the reports, “Currently, there are no signs of his condition deteriorating further and he is much more stable now but there are no significant signs of improvement either and you may go and visit the patient now.” He nodded and left.

Mino took a deep breath and pushed open the door. Jinwoo was already awake and smiling. “Hey” Mino said while forcing a smile. Jinwoo nodded weakly. He pointed to a flask on the table beside his bed and Mino went over to pour some water for him, “I prefer coffee, especially the one down the street opposite our school”

“Why didn’t you tell me?” Mino said while his heart was palpitating. He could feel every single beat his heart was beating and it was so fast.

“You know already?” Jinwoo mouthed out.

“Yeah, the doctor said it- How long more do you have-“ Mino clenched his fists tight avoiding Jinwoo’s gaze.

“Two more years, if I don’t have the operation, within a few months”
