ㅤ赤い糸 RED STRING OF FATE。TEASER THREE
and so god help me for i—
Hyebi's days always start with a bang.
Sometimes it's a bang from the old toaster (because for some reason it hates Hyebi, and only works with Hyeji), at other times it's a bang from the broken dresser (which she wants to fix but doesn't know how). But most of the time, it's a bang from Ryu Hyeji's entire existence (which usually comes with a boom and a loud “Hyebi!”)
Honestly, Hyebi has a hard time of understanding how Hyeji's life actually works. The fact that she is still alive and breathing gets more and more questionable whenever she thinks about it. Especially since she knows very well that Hyeji is totally the type to rescue a dog from the middle of a crowded highway and climb a stupid tree to a save a cat and break her arm while doing so.
So, yeah, maybe the only reason Hyebi stays in their shared apartment is to make sure Hyeji doesn't die by some freak accident and get included in the '100 Stupid Ways to Die!' headlines of the newspaper, but you can't blame her for that when she has Ryu Hyeji as a roommate.
Which brings Hyebi to her next dilemma—and, to no surprise, her problem has Ryu Hyeji written all over it.
"What is it this time?" Hyebi asks, annoyed and sleepy and tired—all three aiding to her increasingly sour mood. She has had to come out early in the morning to fix Hyeji's mess more than just a few times before, but that doesn't make it better each time.
“The world is ending, Hyebi! We’re all going to die!” Hyeji says, voice too high for a Saturday afternoon.
Pinching her nose bridge, Hyebi tries to not explode into thirty-thousand tiny pieces. "Are you sure that's why you told me to run all the way here?"
“I’m jobless Hyebi! What am I going to do now? How am I going to feed my children?” Hyeji questions, grabbing onto Hyebi’s shoulders in exasperation.
"We're in front of a hiring flower shop," Hyebi deadpans. "And I'm pretty sure you're not gonna have any children at this rate."
Hyeji only whines, burying her face on Hyebi's shoulder. "My ex-boss told me that I was inadequate and childish. Isn’t she so mean?”
“Well, she does have a point.” Hyebi says, shrugging her shoulders nonchalantly, rolling her eyes when she feels Hyeji nuzzling the crook of her neck in defiance.
“You’re supposed to be my supporter here!”
Sighing, Hyebi slowly pats the poor girl’s back, bending her knees in order to free herself from Hyeji’s arms before giving Hyeji a pointed look. “I’ve been supporting you since we were in high school. This is your sixth time getting fired from a job in the last two months. I’m surprised there’s still people willing to hire you. Shouldn’t you have a reputation amongst the store managers now?”
Hyeji grows quiet and Hyebi watches as she sulks, twiddling with her fingers and looking like a lost child. Hyebi never understands why Hyeji has issues with people in general, but she doesn't have to, because in the end all Hyeji needs is love (lots and lots of it, no kidding).
"Come on," Hyebi says, dragging Hyeji by the wrist. "Let's go home."
Hyebi pretends to not see Hyeji eyeing the 'Hiring!' sign on the front door.

The first thing Hyebi’s greeted with in the morning as she leisurely sips her barley tea is an overly ecstatic Hyeji running towards her with a fat grin plastered onto her face.
“I got it Hyebi! I got it!” Hyeji yells from across the campus cafeteria as Hyebi lets out a groan, rubbing her face with her hand as she puts down her hot cup of tea before being bombarded with Hyeji’s forceful hug.
The piece of paper in Hyeji’s hand is crumpled as Hyeji slings an arm around Hyebi’s shoulders and leans the side of her head against Hyebi’s and in a low voice says, “Guess what?”
“What?” Hyebi replies smoothly, despite being nearly dragged off her chair because of the younger girl’s action.
“Guess.”
“No.”
“Please? For me?”
“No.”
Sighing in defeat, Hyeji shoves the now wrinkled piece of paper in Hyebi’s face and begins to gloat. “Guess who didn’t fail her finals? This girl!"
“You barely passed.” Hyebi deadpans but nevertheless ruffles Hyeji’s hair as a sign of complimenting her hard work (plus, Hyebi didn’t want anything to do with Hyeji’s kicked puppy look).
“Oh and I forgot to tell you, I got that job at the flower shop that we were in front of a few weeks ago.”
“You what?”
