They Don't Know About Us
Description
The fans know they've been together since February, they know that he's been a huge fan of hers even before debut. But it's so much more than just that. They do not know the whole story.
They do not know of a girl trying to protect the light inside of a boy's eyes, yet finding that she is the one who'd caused it to extinguish. They do not know of a boy trying desperately to hold onto to a love that was built on materialism. They do not know of the late night talks and crying on shoulders and comforting words along the lines of, "stay fearless, Baek," or "you won't be lonely anymore, noona, I won't let you be." They don't know the half of it.
People tell them they're not right for each other, that they don't deserve each other but they don't listen. This story's not about the outsiders, it's about them.
Foreword
“Don't listen to what they're saying,” she says in a voice barely above a whisper. Shaking hands invade his field of vision, forcing his attention away from the comments on his screen. They just look like a jumble of letters and anger through his blurry vision. His overheated laptop is snapped shut and pulled away from him before he can even blink back the tears threatening to fall.
The radiating heat had suddenly disappeared but 'why;, he asks himself, 'does the bitterness still linger?'
He looks up for the first time in ages and tries to meet her gaze, but she stares off somewhere in front of them and refuses to turn her head. His laptop is held tight in her trembling hands. Tears are being held back to the best of her ability, he can tell. No matter how high she built her walls, he could always tell.
The penny drops – as does his heart – and he is suddenly overwhelmed with the feeling of realisation, as if a tsunami of reality had washed over him. All that goes through his head is the fact that he has failed. Failed in noticing her distress. Failed in protecting her. Failed in being there for her. Taeyeon needs more support than he does now. She is the main scapegoat in this situation, yet why did it take Baekhyun so long to notice the shakiness underneath those stone walls?
So consumed in his own world, he had failed to notice the woman whom he loves, the woman whom he is prepared to go through all this hardship for, is hurting just as badly as him. Though she did put up her own defenses, though she did try to seem as if the harsh words thrown at her did not hurt, did not scar her as badly as they did, it was still there underneath.
Maybe he just refused to acknowledge it. If they are both broken down into pieces because of their own actions then who is there to clean up the mess? Pick up the pieces? Put them back together (hopefully)?
"What about me?" Chanyeol asks quietly from the corner, pouting as he watches Baekhyun and Taeyeon get married while author-nim is torn between which couple to ship but it's kinda too late for that cos she aleady wrote a baekyeon fanfic and oh look chanyeol is crying now. it's ok babe you have me.
