Book One: Chapter 2

Love On Wheels

Hello again! I hope you enjoy the second chapter of Book One :)

CHAPTER 2:

“STOP IT!!!” I screamed at my new alarm clock. Stupid thing woke me up again. I swear, one of these days, that Kim Junsu is gonna get it.

I rubbed my eyes. It was a Sunday, so I didn’t have to go to the office that day.

My parent phone rang, which was a bit weird. My parents don’t usually call on non-work days. Well, yesterday was an exception, because it was my birthday.

“Yeoboseyo?” I said into the receiver.
“Ah, SeulGi!” my parents said fondly. “We have something to ask of you.”

I immediately became cautious. Whenever my parents asked for something, it was never a little favor.

“What is it?” I asked cautiously.
“We need you too meet us at the Clover Café [a/n: another lame-o name, I know] right now.”
“That’s it? Really?” I asked suspiciously.
“Of course! Is it wrong for two loving parents to want to spend time with their only daughter?” my mother asked. “I think not!”

I sighed inwardly. Now they’re getting all defensive.

“Just get yourself here right now! And dress nice!” my umma said.
“Why do I have do dress nice?!”
“Stop asking questions and come here young lady, Araso?” my father said sternly.

Now something was really up. My dad never used his stern voice on me.

“Neh, Araso,” I replied anyway.

I put on a simple casual mini dress, slipped on a pair of cute ballet flats, and made my way to the Clover Café.

“Hi, YeonHee!” I waved to the waitress, as I came in.
“Hey SeulGi! Your parents are at the table by the window,” she replied.

After thanking her, I made my way to the table where my parents were sitting at. It was weird, because instead of seeing two people, I saw five.

I reached the table and bowed to my parents, not even bothering to look at the other three people they were with.

“Anneyong Haseyo, umma, appa,” I greeted them.

They smiled at me and gestured to their companions. “Say hello to our friends.”

I turned around to bow as a sign of respect.
“SeulGi, this is…” my mother began.

I bowed to the first person, who was an old man.

“Mr. Jung.”

He smiled warmly at me.

I smiled back and bowed to the next person, who was an old woman.

“Mrs. Jung,” my mother introduced again.

She gave me a beautiful smile and I smiled back as well.

“And their son…” my mother gestured to the third person.

Just as I was about to bow to him too, I had a good glance at his face. He seemed really familiar.

“…Yunho,” my mother finished.

“YAH!!!” we both shouted t the same time. “I’TS YOU!!!”

“Omo. You know each other?” Mrs. Jung asked.

I narrowed my eyes at Yunho. “He took my car.”
Yunho’s eyes widened. “Bwoh??? Hey, I won that car fair and square!”
“But I saw it first!”

“Hey, don’t make a scene here, you two. This is a public place!” my father said sternly.

We bowed to him and sat back down.

“Mainhamnida, appa,” I said.

So, the parents just sat there, chatting happily and I just sat there, bored. I think I went to that café for nothing. Plus, Yunho looked bored, too.

And we just sat there, not caring, until my mom said that sentence that changed my life forever.

“Oh, we’re getting along so smoothly! I cant wait until we officially become family!”

Yunho and I looked at her, bewildered. “Bwoh?” we said at the same time.

“Oops. We forgot that the reason we brought you kids here is to make an announcement!” Mrs. Jung said, a tad too excitedly.

They looked at our fathers and mine cleared his throat.

“Jung Enterprise and Bae Corporation are merging together…” he began.
“Through marriage,” finished Mr. Jung.

Yunho and I gaped at them.

“How are you supposed to do that? You’re both already married!” Yunho said.

Aish, that idiot.

Mr. Jung gave him a head smack.

“Ow!” he yelped. “What was that for?”

“We’re not going to marry ourselves, idiot!” Mr. Jung said.

“Then how are you gonna merge the companies through marriage? If it’s through marriage, then someone has to get married, right?”

Mrs. Jung sighed. “Thank God you have your looks, son.”

“Yes, someone has to get married,” my dad said. “And that’s where you two come along.”

Yunho and I looked at each other. “Say what?!?!” he half-screamed.

I stood up. “I cant marry him!” I said, pointing my finger at Yunho.

My father frowned. “And why is that?”

“Because!!! He’s an insensitive, conceited jerk!” I said.
“Hey, look who’s talking!” Yunho shot back.

“Don’t talk like that in front of your future in-laws, you two!” said my mother. “It’s very irrespective!”

We sat back in our seats, still fuming.

“So, that’s settled! You two are getting married by the end of next month, whether you like it or not!” Mr. Jung said.

“NEXT MONTH?!?!?” we both shouted again. Man, is it me, or have we been talking exactly the same way?

“Isn’t that a bit too rushed?” I said.

All four parents shook their heads vigorously. “Nonsense! The wedding will be held next month! End of discussion.

Oh joy. The day after my birthday, and I end up being engaged to a pig.

“Oh God, tell me I’m dreaming…” I said to Junsu as i opened the door to my apartment.
“I don’t lie,” he said flatly.

“Pinch me!!!” I commanded. “If it hurts, then everything’s real!!!”

Junsu looked at me uncertainly. “Oookaaay…” he said and gave me the most PAINFUL pinch I have ever received.
“OOOOOWWWWW!!!!” I yelled in pain, rubbing my arm, where he gave me the pinch. “Omo, I’m not dreaming!!!”

Junsu gave me a grimace. “Everything’s real,” he concluded.

Duh.

I swear, this boy can just be so simple minded at times!

I whined and screamed at the ceiling. “WHY, OH WHY?!?!?! WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE ME?!?!”

I looked at Junsu, my eyes alight with madness. “I have always been a good daughter, haven’t I?” I asked him madly, shaking his shoulders vigorously.

Junsu and his little dolphin voice squeaked a small “Yes”, terrified by my sudden action.

But I still kept on shaking him.

“I don’t deserve this kind of treatment, right? I mean, I’ve always had top grades at my school! I WENT TO CHURCH EVERY SUNDAY!!! I’VE NEVER EVEN WATCHED A FREAKIN MOVIE!!!”

Junsu looked really scared now.

“SO WHY DOES THIS HAVE TO HAPPEN TO ME, OF ALL PEOPLE?!?!?! WHY???WHY?!?!?!?!”

Junsu shrugged and said, “May be you’re a very unlucky person…?”

He was sweating all over.

Realizing that he was really close to wetting his pants, I released him from my deadly grip, and huffed as I sat down my living room couch.

My head suddenly popped up from its lowered and my eyes grew wide position as an idea struck me.

“What if…” I began. Junsu looked at me, his eyes widening too, leaning closer to listen.

“What if I wear some sneakers under my dress and run away from the altar?!?!” I exclaimed, thinking of that Julia Roberts movie, ‘Runaway Bride’.

Hah! Brilliant!

Junsu’s expression fell flat.

Okay, maybe it wasn’t THAT good and an idea… but it could work…right?

RIGHT???

God, I’m not even married to that guy yet, and I’m already as idiotic as him.

Oh no, what would happen when I actually marry him?!?!

And image suddenly popped into my head. That pig-brained idiot and I side by side, just staring into space and going, “Doooohhh…” with really dumb facial expressions.

“AAAAAHHHHH!!!!” I screamed into a cushion.

Junsu couldn’t do anything. He just looked at me helplessly.

After Junsu left, my Parent Phone rang and my mom’s incredibly cheery voice erupted from the ear-piece.

“SeulGi!!!” umma said fondly.
“Yes?” I replied glumly.
“I have a surprise for you!!”

Wait, did she just say surprise?? I love surprises!!

“What is it???” I asked excitedly.
“Open the front door, and you’ll see!!” my mom said.
“Okay, okay!!!”

She hung up without another word and I ran to my door, excitement filling my whole body.

“WHAT THE FU-”

It was the most horrible surprise I had ever received!!!

“Surprise,” said Yunho flatly as he let himself into MY apartment.

“What the hell are you doing at MY place?” I asked him, outraged.

He snapped twice and some maids dressed in uniforms came in, carrying a ton of suitcases.

“You mean, OUR place,” he said, turning to me.

I could hardly believe my ears.

“BWOH?????” I practically screamed.

Yunho scowled. “That’s right. My parents forced me to move here.”

A man in a suit suddenly came in and went to Yunho’s side.

“Everything is complete, young master,” he said.

Yunho nodded. Then, he looked at me.

“Oh, this is my butler, Kang,” he said to me. Then, he turned to Butler Kang. “Kang, this is my *gag* fiancé, the sore loser who won’t let go of the fact that I out-bid her for my car.”

I glared at him.

Yunho rolled his eyes. “Fine, fine. Her name is Bae SeulGi.”

Butler Kang shook my hand. “It is an honor to meet you, Ms. Bae… or should I say, young mistress.”

I smiled. Well, at least he was nice. Unlike SOME people *coughYunhocough*.

“So, where do I put my things?” Yunho asked. “Do I need to go around the house to find my room, or will you just take me there?”

I narrowed my eyes at him. “I only have one room here.”

Yunho laughed, wrapping his arms around his stomach.

After a while, he stopped laughing and looked at me. “Oh… you were serious?”

I nodded, gritting my teeth. But now that I think about it, I lived in a penthouse apartment. Why on earth do I only have one room??

OH RIGHT CAUSE I LIVE ALONE.

God, how I hate his guts.

“So where am I supposed to sleep??” he asked.

I shrugged. “Mollayo. Figure it out for yourself.”

As I turned to walk away, I heard familiar voices by the doorway.

“SeulGi!”

I turned around to see my parents, and *gulp* my future in-laws.

“We couldn’t help but eavesdrop from outside, and we know that finding Yunho a place to sleep in would be very difficult,” Mrs. Jung began.

I nodded my head vigorously. “Neh, I totally agree with you!”

“And he can’t possibly sleep on the couch!” Mr. Jung butted in.

I looked at him and agreed, as well. “Oh no, we can’t have that!”

Yes! Does this mean they’re going to have to kick Yunho out of my humble abode? And I’m gonna have my apartment to myself after all? Oh, happy day!

“Our Yunho needs a really nice bed to sleep on, and face it, you only have one bed in you room right?”

“Right!” I said with enthusiasm.

“So we’ve come to the conclusion that. You two will share your room!” my mother finished.

“Absolu- wait, WHAT?!?!” I spat.

“You heard them,” my father said. “You’ll be sleeping with Yunho in the same room, and on the same bed! You two will be married anyway, so the earlier the better, right?”

“NO WAY!!” I screamed.

I looked at Yunho. He didn’t seem too excited about the plan either.

”Umma, Appa, there’s got to be some other way-” began Yunho, directing his speech to his parents.
“No, Yunho! What we’ve decided on is final! You two are going to obey our orders!” Mrs. Jung sternly said to Yunho and me.

We just helplessly nodded and they left.

“So, roomie, what do we do now?” Yunho asked glumly.

I went straight to my room, opened my drawers, and took out a marker pen.

I then walked to my king-sized bed and drew a line right in the center of my white bed sheets.

“The right side of the bed will be mine, and the left side will be yours!! We sleep on our own sides! No talking, no hugging, no getting close and absolutely no crossing the line!” I instructed Yunho fiercely.

“But I want the right side!” he whined.

Aish, he is so childish.

“Okay fine, I get the left side, you get the right!!!”

He grinned at me, somewhat amused.

He should be thankful for his looks, because if he was ugly, I would’ve thrown him out if the house by now.

“Waaahhh!!!” I wailed as Boa listened to my sad, sad tale.

We were at the Clover Café, having some drinks.

“Ouch,” Boa said. “ I seriously dot wanna be in your shoes right now,” she said, taking a sip of the mocha macchiato.

I twirled the straw of my frapuccino with a pout on my face.

“I just hate him so damn much!” I said furiously.

Boa looked at what I was holding. “Uhhh… SeulGi…” she said, pointing at my hands.

I looked down at them and saw that I was crushing my plastic cup, where my frapuccino was held. Some of it was oozing down my fingers.

“Oops,” I said, softening my grip, to prevent further damage.

“Y’know, if you hate each other so much, the why don’t the two of you just show you’re parents how illegible you are?” Boa said causally, still drinking her drink. “Man, that is good coffee.”

I thought about her words. Yeah. She was right. If our parents saw how disgusting we are, they’ll most definitely get off our backs!

“Boa my friend, you are a genius!” I said.
Boa looked away from her macchiato, confused. “What did I just say?’

And with that, I left the café, leaving a very puzzled Boa staring after my retreating figure.

“Oh well, I guess I’ll just get back to my coffee,” Boa said nonchalantly.

I rushed back home and found the evil one (no, not my alarm clock…this one’s much worse) sitting on my couch watching TV.

God, he looks gorgeous.

I snapped out of my trance again and marched over to him, blocking his view.

“Hey, I was just getting to the good part!” he complained.

I shushed him. “Look…” I began.

He gave me a puzzled look, but listened to me anyway.

“I know you hate me,” I said.
“And I know you feel the same way,” he continued.
“Right. But we both know that our parents won’t stop pestering us to get married.”
“Right.”
“Sooo…” I trailed off, waiting for him to get my idea.
“Sooo?” he repeated.

Okay, and I’m supposed to marry him?

But then I thought of my plan. Heh… I might not marry him at all!

I sighed. “Look, the only reason we’re getting…” I shuddered when I said the word. “…married is because our parents’ companies are merging together, right?”

Yunho nodded. “But I don’t really see where this is going.”

My face fell. “Okay, our parents aren’t stupid. They know that there are a lot of other ways to merge two companies together, other than marriage.”

Yunho looked at me intently. I think he was finally getting it.

“They only wanted us to get married because they think we suit each other,” I continued. “So…”

I looked at him expectantly, waiting for him to answer me.

He looked deep in thought. “So…” he began. Then he looked up at me again, his serious thinking face replaced by a clueless one.

“Okay I still don’t get it.”

I sighed. “I wonder how you got through college,” I said.

Just as he was about to answer, I held my hand up. “You know what, don’t answer that.”

“So what are you really suggesting?” he asked.
I gave him a devious smile. “Well, our parents will definitely call off the wedding if we show them that we’re not their ideal children in-law, right?”

Yunho finally got the point. His eyes alighted with interest.

“Aaah…” he said, liking my plan. “So you’re useful after all, huh?”

I glared at him. “I’m gonna pretend I didn’t hear that.”

“STOP IT!!!” I screamed at my new alarm clock. Stupid thing woke me up again. I swear, one of these days, that Kim Junsu is gonna get it.
