Roommates

Di was busy doing her laundry, neatly folding her clothes and placing it in her closet, though it didn’t take long before she got disturbed, as usual, by Eli. “Where is your underwear?” He spoke with a teasing grin as he entered her room, making her chuckle. “You know, I put them away first because I know you do this every time I do my laundry.” Eli simply laughed as he sat on her bed. “You’ve been here what? Two months and you already know me this well? Bravo.” Di rolled her eyes in amusement before looking to the male that was poking her stuffed toy. “You are not really that hard to figure out you know. s, butts, food.” She nodded with a hum. “Pretty simple.” Eli slightly furrowed his brows before he huffed. “I know stuff. Like.. The pope is always old.” He nodded with a chuckle. “Oh? Well why is he always old then?” Di asked as Eli blinked. “uh.. Okay I have no idea of that” They both laughed before glancing to the door as Leo returned from his classes. “Yo roomie.” Di waved at him and Leo bowed his head back before he sat at his desk quietly, instantly starting to do his homework without much attention to Di and Eli. “I think I’ll go google why the pope is old.” Eli spoke with a small smile and Di simply nodded before he left the room. Di took a glance at Leo before closing her closet and coming close, peeking over his shoulder, making him stop his work to look at her. “What?” His low voice spoke and Di moved back before she cleared . “I was just-“ She rubbed her neck and smiled slightly. “Curious. I mean you always sit and work and I’m impressed you can hold out so long.” She nodded and then noticed a small smile on his lips, which almost looked proud. “I’ll go and- yeah” She pointed to the door before she left the room and carefully closed the door as she grinned. “Work hard.”

It had been an everyday routine that Di would leave the room for a few hours when Leo returned home, so he had perfect silence for the work he wanted to do. She didn’t mind it at all, somehow it was quite good thing, as she then actually tried to get to know the boys she was living with. She also had a soft spot for her roommate and even though he was older than her, she still felt like taking care of him. As she had closed the door fully, she made her way to the living room, where she found Khun sitting and watching a cliché drama. “You really like that stuff?” Di asked as she leaned her elbows on the couch backrest, bending over so her head was beside his. “I want to be an actor you know, I need to study everything.” He said in a serious tone, though he actually watched it because he was a er for romance dramas and the lead male star was hot. “It’s very inspirational.” Di simply nodded before a lopsided grin was on her lips. “And you are sure it’s not just because the male lead is extremely attractive?” She teased as Khun slightly glared at her. “Go to the kitchen where you belong, woman.” A loud warm laugh left her before she nodded. “It’s nice to know you don’t use your charm on me, so I can relax or are you out of shape?” She teased further before she felt herself being pulled over the couch backrest and onto the couch where she was held in a head hold by the muscular male. “I really find you annoying. Why can’t you be a normal girl when you have such a pretty face and nice s? Then I could make you flush and hide in your room.” She huffed and looked up at him. “Because I am myself” She poked out her tongue before she let out a whine as her head was rubbed with his hard knuckles. “Ya Ya Ya!” She wiggled her legs before pinching his side extremely hard, making him let go with an almost womanly squeak. “Ow..” He looked at her as if he was hurt, making her laugh as she fixed her hair. “You are so easy” She shook her head before sitting comfortably on the couch beside him.

Their relationship was like brother and sister, the classic version where they teased each other and fought, yet they shared comfortable and sweet moments, like now, where they were watching a drama together. “Oh so she kissed both the brothers and the one is in love with her and the other is trying to fake that he is over his ex to make her jealous?” She asked as Khun explained what had happened until the episode they were watching. “Yeah but now a third person is in it too, their childhood friend who has been in love with her since she saved his mother from drowning.” She nodded her head in understanding. “Wauw. Those threeway relationships sure are complicated in these things.” She chuckled before Khun nudged her side. “Hey now, you could be in one yourself you know.” Her eyebrow slowly rose as she looked to the older male with a confused expression. “What are you talking about?” He let out a light laugh before he smirked and leaned close to her, making her lean back as an instinct. “Eli and Hae. They booth look at you with that glint a guy gets when he’s crushing on a girl.” Her eyes turned wide as she stared at the male before her, slightly blinking a few times before she let out a nervous chuckle. “Oh come on, you are messing with me. Eli is just a that likes attention, he’s like a bet buddy and Donghae is.. Well he’s nice but he doesn’t like do anything.” She spoke before her thoughts turned to the evening in the kitchen, where Donghae had somewhat changed. “It’s ridiculous.” She then said as Khun shook his head before smiling. “If you say so miss sporty.” Khun said before leaning back and continued to his drama as she bit her bottom lip and got up. “I think I am gonna go buy what I need for dinner.” She nodded and so did Khun and soon enough, she was placing on her coat, scarf and shoes.

As she was about to leave the place, she was topped by Donghae. “Are you going shopping?” He asked as Di nodded and placed her red warm scarf around her neck. “Can I come?” He then asked as he looked at her with pleading eyes. “Uh. Sure, I don’t see why not.” She chuckled and stepped aside so he could get his things and then walked out to wait for him by the stairs. “I have something I want to buy.” He spoke as he got out, ruffling his dark hair and then grinning at her. She was curious to what he needed but she didn’t ask, not really sure why she couldn’t make herself do so. “Okay then, let’s go.” She chuckled and started heading down the stairs while holding the railing. “Why do you never take the elevator?” Donghae asked in a wondering manner as he walked behind her down. “Well I like moving my limbs and I don’t see a need for using it if I am not carrying something really heavy and stuff like that.” She answered truthfully as she glanced at the male behind her. “As simple as that.” She laughed softly before looking ahead again until they reached the ground floor and stepped out in the cold afternoon air. “It should be getting warmer soon.” Donghae added as he saw Di tug on her scarf to cover her nose. “Yeah but I like the cold. I also love winter and snow.” She nodded a little before she walked towards the local market which was close by where they lived. “Really? I am more of a summer guy I think. I like the warm weather and the beach.” She hummed in understanding. “The beach is really great always” She chuckled and glanced at him as he glanced at her. There was something about his gaze, something that made her cheeks feel hot, yet she did not blush. His eyes were deep and gentle, yet there was a hint of mischief. “Why are you looking at me like that?” She asked as she stopped walking, still looking up into his eyes. “How?” He asked as small smile started to form on his smooth lips. “All-“ She had no idea what to say. “How do you explain a look like that?”  She thought before she bit her bottom lip, as she tried figuring it out. “All deep and soft.” He let out a chuckle as the few words left her pink lips. “Well, maybe it’s because I find your eyes pretty and want to stare into them while-“ He paused as he suddenly trapped her against the brick wall beside them. “While I kiss you” He spoke, making her heart stop for a second and her breath caught in . “wh-what?” She almost gasped out before she noticed him lean closer. “You are kidding right?” She asked before feeling her legs go weak when his lips was only an inch from hers, feeling his warm breath tickle her lips. She soon panicked as she held onto his upper arms, staring in surprise and confusion at him. “Stop it!” She yelled and pushed him away, then fixed herself up before she looked at him. “If you are planning on doing this, you can just go, because you are making me uncomfortable.” She was slightly angry as she looked at Donghae, who still had the same look in his eyes, though hurt was added now. “I’m sorry.” He gently spoke before he placed his hands in to his pockets and started to head back.

She could hardly concentrate on what it was she needed for dinner. All she thought about was the incident on the street and how his eyes were constantly coming up in her mind and her cheeks feeling hot when they did. “What’s wrong with him?” She asked herself as her hand ran through her blond hair. “Okay forget it.” She let out a groan and then shook her body to relax. “Food.” She simply said and started to gather the things needed for tonight’s dinner. She had been so lucky to get them all to agree to a food plan, where they all had a night to cook in the school days and the weekends were free; every Monday was hers. She made her way back to their apartment, carrying two bags filled with ingredients, as she had planned to introduce them all to some Scandinavian cooking. She kicked off her shoes once she returned and walked to the kitchen while taking a weary glance at Donghae, who was watching a show on the tv. As soon as she had placed the bags down, she went to take off her coat and scarf, then returned to unpack but to her surprise, Donghae was in full swing. She slowly walked over to stand beside him and helped getting everything out while she kept quiet. “What is all this for?” He asked with a soft smile as he looked to Di. Di slowly raised her head and couldn’t help but smile back at him when he smiled like that. “It’s for Swedish sausage stew, Sweden’s national dish.” She smiled a bit wider, “It’s not bad to try more than just Korean and American food.” She chuckled before Eli came from the side. “I made Japanese too though.” Eli added before Di nodded. “It’s still only three countries and most of you make the same dish a lot, so I decided to spice Mondays up. Plus, it’s good for me to seem like an actual woman at times.” She hummed in approval before placing the bags away and looking over the things she bought, taking the potatoes and bringing them to the sink. “I would help but I need to do my homework.” Donghae spoke before smiling at Di, who nodded, though knowing that he didn’t want to help out of laziness. “Work hard.” She cheered before she looked to Eli who grinned widely. “I’ll help.”

As the dinner making went on, Eli kept asking about Di’s family, which wasn’t something she enjoyed talking about. “Well I’m not really on good terms with my family, that’s also why I live here. I mean we are stinking rich but my allowance is not enough to live off, but my step-brother gets a lot and got my room at home.” She bitterly spoke before she sighed. “So a rich girl has to work at a cafe to have enough money.” She nodded a little and looked to Eli for a brief moment, seeing his quite confused face about a step-brother. “My dad died so my mom remarried my dad’s right hand and he is now the owner of the firm my dad created. He’s a jerk, so is his son.” She nodded. “And now I am forced to live away from home but still go to countless marriage interviews and important dinners because we are one happy family.” She nodded and pursed her lips. “So yeah, I’d rather not talk more about it” She said as she continued cutting the sausages while Eli sadly looked at her. “Hey. I kinda get you.” He spoke softly before he chuckled. “My dad remarried a woman who- who is much younger and well, she is closer to being my sister and I feel she is only after his money, but he doesn’t see it. My mom is not dead though, she is very successful with being a judge, a very hard one too.” He chuckled and looked to Di, who was looking at him with a soft gaze. “I’m sure it will work out, maybe she loves him somewhere?” she tried to comfort before Eli ruffled her hair with a grin. “She is nice, don’t worry. She is just very young and stuff.” She chuckled as Di whined at the ruffle and punched his stomach slightly. “Ya, stop that.” She smiled slightly and fixed her hair. “I was wondering if I could call you hyung?” She asked suddenly as she started cooking the dish in the pot, adding onions and sausages, glancing at Eli. “I mean I don’t like saying oppa and you all call me little boy so.” Eli raised a brow at her before he grinned. “Arasso. You can call me hyung little bro.” He teased as she pursed her lips slightly. “Don’t go too far now.” They both laughed before they started to slightly fight for fun, as Eli was trying to tickle her as she was cooking the last before dinner.

Leo had agreed to help Di with the dishes, something he normally didn’t do, so Di couldn’t help but feel a little happy that he had said yes. Though he was silent, his company was pleasant and they both seemed to feel it. “I was wondering. You like guys right?” She asked as she glanced at Leo who made a small nod before he spoke. “So does drama queen.” Her eyes blinked a little at the name that came and for a second she was confused but then a gasp left her lips as she realized what she had just been told. “He is? What- wauw Khun likes men..” She blinked again before she looked ahead. “How do you know that?” She asked while she started to place the plates in their cupboard. “We were best friends once. Then our parents fought, because we are like this. We were not allowed to see it each other. They do not know we all live here.” He quietly spoke before he looked to Di with an almost sad look. “I thought it would be nice to live together, but they all changed, especially him.” He looked down before he sighed. “But you are here. It makes it better, everyone talk now.” A small smile was on his lips and one came upon hers. “I am very happy to help then” She grinned slightly, though they did not know that someone had been listening. In the hallway stood Khun, back pressed against the wall as he looked to the floor. “I miss you.” he mumbled before taking a glance at the two and disappearing into his room.

Chapter 5: Hey, this is actually pretty awesome! I like all the different personalities and the tension between all of them. Especially Khuns words at the end of this chapter brought it to a whole new level. I like the fact that Di is not the typical Drama-girl, wo is harassed by the boys who of course all hit on her (well sort of they do, but not all of them, so thats toally legitime xD). Just like Khun said, she doesn't blush and hide in her room. It's a nice twist. Although I wished to see a lot more of how they grew close. I wonder if you're still continuing this story, since it's been a while.. Hope you do, because I really want to see how things work out ;) Keep up the good work! Kansahamnida author-nim!
