Half a mind
It gets silent for a minute. Even though it’s not uncomfortable for any of them, since they’re all reliving past memories in their own heads right now, but it is very much so for bystanders.
Seungri is the first one to jump out of his trance. He looks up as he smirks. “Want to know what happened after our three hyungs left?”
He knows you’re dying to know, and he flashes that way-too-cocky grin when he sees you nod eagerly.
Seungri didn’t have that hard of a time after Jiyong had left. His hardest time had passed the second it occurred to him that nothing in Jiyong’s life was serious. He didn’t take his schoolwork serious, he didn’t take money serious, and he didn’t take time serious. So it was only natural for Seungri to assume that he wasn’t taken serious either.
He talked to Daesung about it, but he couldn’t really help Seungri with his issues, for he was struggling himself. Only he was dealing with the fact that Seunghyun took more than enough serious, just never him.
Seungri was there the morning Daesung woke up to a blue sticky note on his door with nothing more but the word sorry hastily scribbled on it. Whereas Seungri had been dead pissed at their oldest hyung, Daesung had remained silent. Slowly, he had pulled the note off the door, crumpled the piece of paper in a tiny ball, and he’d thrown it in the bin. And that was it. They were over.
Life went on, and so did they. Seungri threw himself completely in his studies. Whenever someone was looking for him, they could either find him in the library, or at home, bent over his books. He handed in the most amazing essays and papers, and he impressed all his professors with his resolute determination and motivation. But most of all, it was his diligence and constant hard work that earned him praise after praise.
A lot of things had changed, but most of the changes happened to Daesung.
He went out a lot more often. “For the music,” Daesung claimed, but Seungri’s had to haul the music lover’s drunken home too many times to actually believe it. Even so, Seungri didn’t comment on it until that one time Daesung drank that tad too much and ended up in the ER to get his stomach pumped. After that, he made Daesung promise to never touch alcohol ever again, and he hasn’t drunk a drop since.
