Amber winces at the reflection in the mirror. Here she is, staring at the whole new person. She is not Amber Josephine Liu anymore, she is now Do Kyungsoo.

She sighs in silent agony.

The whole plan was turned upside down when that night Soojung’s mother asked them to make their relationship official. And now, she is engaged to Soojung as Do Kyungsoo. Fortunately, her mom didn’t ask them to get married as soon as possible. But getting engaged to Soojung is not the plan. Well, it’s kinda is but it’s too early, she wails internally.

A soft knock on the door forces her to stand on her guard, but when she sees Soojung enters with her white dress, her tense shoulder visibly relaxed.

“You ok?” Soojung asks the white pale Amber. The older of the two chokes a forced laugh.

“Well, never in my wildest dream I’m getting engaged to a woman. I don’t swing that way, Jung-ah.”

Soojung scoffs, it’s clearly apparent that Amber is nervous for tonight. Well, she can’t blame her though. It’s not as easy as they plan beforehand.

Her mom forced them to throw an engagement party as soon as possible since she knew that Yifan came to Seoul to visit their father. Her mom is worried that Yifan’s appearance will be an disadvantage for their side.

Her beloved father has written a will that all his assets will be divided by two. One part for Yifan and his mother and another for Joohyun and her children. Soojung is happy enough with this arrangement, it is more than enough for her and her mother. However, her mom was furious when she knew that Yifan was given the whole company she manages as an asset. Seo Joohyun wouldn’t let the company that she loves so much to go to Yifan’s hands. But, the only thing she can do to get the company is when Soojung is married because her father wants a man to help her to manage the company. Still chauvinistic to the end, Soojung scoffs.

“We are going to be ok.” She reaches Amber’s hand to assure her but truthfully she needs assurance for herself. Aren’t we?

Truthfully Amber can’t really recall what is happening for the last 2 hours. When she sees the glinting engagement ring on her left hand, she realizes that she has been functioning soulessly as Do Kyungsoo.

I really need a drink right now, she sighs to herself and makes her way to the drink table. She sips the drink greedily and looks around the room filled with people that she doesn’t even know.

She has been friends with Soojung since they were in high school but until now she just realizes how powerful Jung Soojung’s family is. The party is held in a ballroom of one of their chain hotels and Amber can see some people that she often sees in magazine wandering around in the party. Never in her whole life, she feels as out of place as now.

“Congratulations for your engagement, Do Kyungsoo-sshi.” A cold voice is heard from behind her, forcing her to look at the source.

A group of men from the Kim family and the heir of Oh group comes over surrounding her. It’s a common knowledge that the youngest of Kim family and the third generation heir from Oh family have been fighting to ask Soojung’s hand in marriage when someone suddenly ruins their plans.

What if they gang up on me? Amber gulps nervously.

“Thank you. Nice to meet you guys. Soojung has told me a lot about you.” She tries to play it cool.

Kim Jongin looks at her from head to toe, and leers at her in disgust, “I never thought that Soojung’s type is someone like you. Even him,” he motions to Sehun, “is a better choice than you are.”

Sehun glares at Jongin, clearly feeling offended by the comment but decides to brush it off.

“Tell me, Do Kyungsoo-sshi. What have you done to make Soojung likes you?” Jongin taunts her, making her lost at words. With his intimidating presence and the towering height of Oh Sehun, Amber feels really small. And the other guys, which she knows are Jongin’s older brothers, standing there not doing anything. What should I do?
