Lee Min Ae [Main] - - The quiet introvert who doesn't portray what she really feels. No one can tell the emotion behind her frequent laughs and smiles, not even her closest friends. She has a small infatuation for Kim Junsu that grows greater as each year of high school progresses. She's too concentrated on him to see the boy peeking from behind the library bookshelf to get a glimpse of her.
Kim Jaejoong - - The lonesome class president who prefers to be left alone but he's sometimes dragged off by his three best friends, Yoochun, Changmin, and Yunho. He spends his free time at the library or in the office sorting through important documents and organizing class events. He is co-captain of the high school varsity soccer team and doesn't pass up an opportunity to see Lee Min Ae even if just for a second.
Syae Ri - - The epitome of perfection who is blinded by an infatuation to see her best friend is hurting. She began noticing Kim Junsu her Sophomore year of high school, then began liking him Junior year.
Kim Junsu - - The short, gangly boy at the start of Freshman year. He mostly kept to himself and only talked to Lee Min Ae. He began to like her the second she smiled and reassured his weakening self-confidence. Chased after her (even though she had been oblivious to his attempts) all through-out Freshman and Sophomore year. He became captain of the high school varsity soccer team, working to impress her to no avail. He gave up on her the summer before Junior year, trying to make himself believe she had just led him on with no intention of starting a relationship.

Synopsis - -
Everyday at chorus practice, she'd smile and make her way up the stands, taking her rightful place next to him.
Everyday at lunch, she'd sit at her regular table and silently disapprove of the hateful words her friends spat at him.
Everyday while she lay on her bed at night, she'd wonder if it was remotely possible for him and me to become us.
That was Freshman year at high school. Puppy Love. Nothing more.
Five minutes, that was how long it took for him to warm up his vocals.
Four minutes, that was how long it took for her to catch him sneaking glances at her the first day of classes.
Three minutes, that was how long into the song before his fingers brushed against hers at the winter concert.
Two minutes, that was how long it took her to notice Syae Ri sneaking glances at him from the stands below her.
One minute, that was how long it took him to break the fragile relationship they'd built up from nothing.
That was Sophomore year at high school. Finally ready to start a relationship. No big deal.
Everyday at chorus practice, she'd watch as her best friend flirted with the one guy she truly liked, but was too frightened to admit it.
Everyday at lunch she'd sit at the three-year-old table and listen to her friends gush about how much he'd grown since Freshman year and how great he would look with her best friend.
Everyday while she lay on her bed at night, she'd place her hand over her heart and wonder if things would ever be the same.
That was Junior year at high school. Funny how people's opinions can change so quickly.
Five minutes, that was how long it took for the new couple to walk into the chorus room and sit next to her, whispering about how great their date the day before was.
Four minutes, that was how long it took for him to kiss his girlfriend's cheek, then her lips, not knowing those same lips a few years before had been bad-mouthing him.
Three minutes, that was how long it took for her to realize he was ignoring her, muttering to his girlfriend about how I had been such a tease and someone as smart as her shouldn't be hanging with someone like me.
Two minutes, that was how long it took for me to run out crying, clutching my books tightly to my chest, and run right into you.
One minute, that was how long it took you to whisk me into your arms and into the nurse's office, applying pressure to a deep cut caused by his broken glass bottle on my abdomen.
That was Senior year. That was the year my world finally turned right-side up. That was the year I met you.
