Common Similarities

Description

Tick…Tick…Tick…The almost inaudible ticking that came from the clock was drumming against my ears. My ears perked up at another question raised by the woman which was rather interrupting the pleasant ticking of the clock, well at least to me.

“Now…” Three seconds left. She meticulously lifted her hand to her face as she adjusted her spectacles back to its original position after having slide down off her nose bridge. She was exactly the type of person I detested; gentle and calm.

“Let’s talk about your parents who have abandoned you,” Two seconds left.

I narrowed my eyes at her evilly. Having known that she deliberately phrased her question that way, I grinned triumphantly. It proved that I had successful annoyed her since I hadn’t spoken a single word since the counselling began.

But instead of answering her question, I eyed the clock that was hung on the wall beside her desk. One second left. And right after that last tick, I stood up from the chair as I slung my bag over my shoulder. She was stunned by my abrupt action but instantly understood it after directing her eyes over to the clock. She rolled her eyes in irritation as I smirked.

“You know we can continue this for quite a while, with just me sitting while you are free to talk throughout the three hours. I can still manage that, it’s not that hard.”

And with that sentence, I left her office before she could inform me about how she’s going to call up by mom for being rude to her. I fished out my phone from my bag as I unlocked it while walking. I keyed in a message that the counselling ended perfectly fine as I sent it to my mom. But the next thing I knew, my phone almost flew out of my hands as I collided onto someone. I huffed before glaring at the person whom I bumped into.

Then I realized, it was him; the guy who attends the counselling session conducted after my sessions.

Characters:

Han Soojin

A high school girl who attends counselling sessions because her mom who had adopted her from young encouraged her to. She looks strong on the outside but inside, she is in fact a vulnerable girl who has countless scars engraved in her heart. She hates life, has a stubborn personality and doesn't like to share her secrets. She doesn't have any friends because of her cold heart, which eventually made her mom worried, signing her up for counselling. Furthermore, because of her late parents who had abandoned her to an orphanage, she has a hard time trusting people.

Kim Jongin

A current celebrity/idol otherwise known as Kai, who is famous in a group that had just debutted. He is a rising star and has many fans. He trains hard to acheive his goals and perserves. However, both of them have one thing in common. And that is attending counseling sessions. Due to his slight depression caused by hatred from the anti-fans, he has a challenging time, being persuaded to go for counselling by his manager. Little did he know that his sessions were right after Soojin's.

What would happen if the two of them crossed paths and meet?

After getting to know more of each other's common similarities, this may just be the start of another love story.

John Green―"As he read, I fell in love the way you fall asleep: slowly, and then all at once"

Foreword

Author's Note:

I'm trying out an angst fanfic since I haven't really written one before. This will be on two complete strangers who has many common similarities. One of them being having to attend counselling session. Counselling is normally recommended for people who have troubles with their lives. So in this story, both of them will have their own problems. I will try my best to develop their characters so as for you guys to emphatize with them. Hopefully, you have a nice time reading this.

Reasons for Counselling: [In Jongin's and Soojin's cases]

1)Depression
>Depression is a common condition that will affect one in three people at some time in their life. It is a complicated illness with many different symptoms and causes. Changes in eating habits and sleeping patterns and overwhelming feelings of despair are often the first signs of depression.

[Bipolar Disorder/Manic Depression, Postnatal Depression, Seasonal Affective Disorder]

2)Anxiety

>Anxiety is a simplistic blanket term which covers a wide range of problems from the temporary effects of stress to panic attacks, compulsions, phobias or debilitating nervous illness previously known as ‘nervous breakdown’. Common in all these complaints is the overwhelming effect of the body producing too much adrenaline resulting in physical symptoms which affect daily life.
