A snowflake is either a single Ice crystal that falls through the earth atmosphere they begin as snow which develop when microscopic supercooled cloud droplets freeze. Snowflakes come in variety of shapes depending on the differing of the temperature and humidity.

once a droplet has frozen it grows into the supersaturated environment, which is one where sair is saturated with respect to Ice when the temperature is below th freezing point.
