I groaned as I heard the sound of the alarm clock go off. Since it was an alarm clock with a musical audio, the words of the song filled the room.    Wake up, it’s time to wake up! I attempted to fall back into dreamland, but the singing alarm clock was preventing me from doing so. I grabbed my glasses from the nightstand and placed them on. I opened the window and pondered at the sky while the alarm clock continued to sing. I was never able to see the special shapes clouds formed and it was a shame. As I continued to look out the window, my sister, Jinah, barged in with a plate of toast in her hand.    “Turn that damn thing off,” she yelled as she threw a piece of toast at me. Knowing that she had bad aim, I didn’t bother to budge. Luckily, it landed on the pile of textbooks. I turned around to face her and raised both of my arms in a surrender position.    “Okay, okay! What’s with people and their patience issues lately,” I shouted as I shut the singing alarm off!    “School is in twenty minutes and you still look like a hag,” she continued to yell.    “Yeah, yeah whatever,” I said as I grabbed my uniform and waved her off. Jinah held up her palm and mouthed five minutes. I walked past her and headed to the bathroom. I took a quick shower, brushed my teeth, and hastily dressed myself up in my uniform.    “Two more minutes,” Jinah shouted from the kitchen.    I ran back to my room and grabbed my backpack from the desk chair. As I headed out, I looked back and debated on whether I should clean my room or not. Nah. I walked towards the kitchen and took an egg sandwich.    “Good luck at work unnie. Show them who’s boss,” I optimistically said as I stuffed the egg sandwich into my mouth. Jinah responded with a slight smile and gave a double thumbs up. After finishing the sandwich, I grabbed my pair of navy blue Keds and headed towards my bike. Just another school day to put up with. Can it be the weekend already?   

 

My eyes started to close as Mrs. Huang gave a lecture about how we should take her math class seriously. If it wasn’t for the journalism assignment, my eyes wouldn’t be droopy and I would have enough rest. After the incident at Chanyeol’s house, I went home three hours later than I usually did and stayed up until 2 A.M.— studying for the biology test that I nearly forgot about. With only five hours of sleep injected in me, my eyes drooped and my ears blocked out Mrs. Huang’s words. Seohyun flicked the back of my head and punched my back.
