Dancing in the Rain

Dancing In The Rain

Music was booming from the speakers, and a colourful display of lights danced playfully along the visible parts of the floor. A blur of bodies moving to the beat filled the centre of the park. A smaller swarm of people were crowding around the bar, buying drinks for others in hopes of getting lucky. There was an overall kind of sweaty euphoria in the atmosphere.
“Can you at least pretend you’re enjoying yourself?” said a gruff voice. “For me?”
Yoo Youngjae looked up from his seat. A tall, lanky figure stood in front of him, clad in leather and denim. He ruffled his dark brown hair with the hand not carrying a beverage.
“Go make some new friends, Himchan.” Youngjae replied monotonously, taking a long sip from his can of Jim Bean. Just then, the song changed to a low, bassy hip-hop track.
“Come on, Youngjae!” whined Himchan. “You actually know this song!”
Youngjae rolled his eyes and pushed himself off his seat.
It’s not like he wanted to be here. Himchan always did this, dragging him along to places he didn’t really want to be.

Two days prior, Himchan had barged into their apartment, waving a colourful flyer in his face.
“Dude, look what I picked up!” he said excitedly.
Youngjae rubbed his sleep-crusted eyes. Thankfully, the bold neon font was quite large.
OUTDOOR PARTY
OPEN TO ANYONE
THIS SATURDAY ONLY!

“No.” was Youngjae’s initial reaction.
“Oh, come on!” Himchan whined.“You might meet someone! It’s at that park around the corner, so we don’t have to drive! Also I need someone to go with so I don’t look like desperate.”
“And what are you doing to do for me?” Youngjae drawled. He wasn’t too happy about being so rudely awoken.
“I’ll pay both our rent this month. Please, Youngjae. I’m begging you!”
Youngjae raised an eyebrow. “Who’s going to be there that you’re so desperate to see?”
Himchan’s cheeks flushed red. “No one you should worry about.”
The shorter of the two thought for a moment. Himchan would pay both of their rent for the month? Just for this one party? For this one person? Hell, he could endure a mass of people for a few ours for half that!
“Fine.” said Youngjae. “I’ll go.”
“Thank you!” wailed Himchan. “Oh, I could almost kiss you!”
“Well don’t.” Youngjae said as he lay himself back down on the sofa and fell asleep.

Youngjae didn’t even know how to dance. He decided he’d make his way past the swarms of bodies to the bar and order something pretentious.
“A mojito, please. A really big one.”
As he watched the bartender prepare his drink, the seat beside him was filled by a figure lean figure with really tight, shiny leather pants.
“Beer, please. I don’t care what type.”
Youngjae’s eyes averted from the stranger’s pants to his thin, loose white tank top, then to his face. He was attractive, but too feminine for his liking. His hair was a dark purple colour, and fell in waves down either side of his face.
“Take a picture, it’ll last longer.” The stranger said with a cheeky smirk.
“No, I’m done.” Youngjae replied monotonously as the bartender handed him his mojito.
The stranger laughed. “You’re too serious! I’m Jongup. What’s your name, Mr. Grumpy?”
Before he could answer, Youngjae was interrupted.
“This is Youngjae!” Himchan said, appearing from nowhere. “When did you two get acquainted?”
“Just then,” replied Jongup, swiveling his chair around. “How do you know each other?”
“Oh, high school.” said Himchan with a shrug. Youngjae wondered why he didn’t mention they shared an apartment.
Jongup took one last sip of his beer and stood up. He was surprisingly short. “Well, I’m going to find the others and dance, you two coming?”
“No.” said Youngjae.
“In a moment!” said Himchan at the same time.
Before Himchan left, he turned to Youngjae. “How ing gorgeous is he?” he whispered (or at least tried to).
“He looks like a chick.” Youngjae deadpanned.
“So? He’s hot as! Did you see his legs? He’s a dancer too!”
“Why didn’t you tell him we live in the same house?”
“Because then he’d think I’m with you!” Himchan said with exasperation.
Youngjae choked on his mojito. “I don’t even want to picture what that would be like.”
“Screw you. I’m going to go get some of that firm dancer’s . Seeya!”
Youngjae shrugged as he watched his taller friend get swallowed by the crowd. A small droplet of water fell on his hand. More and more droplets fell, and soon enough a light shower had taken place. Unfortunately for Youngjae, this didn’t stop the party. After he finished his second mojito, he decided to find Himchan, and maybe – just maybe – dance a little.

It didn’t take long – Himchan was the only person wearing leather pants and a denim jacket (how could he screw denim with leather up so badly?). He was with Jongup and someone else – they were really tall, taller than Himchan, and had a square jaw and bleached blonde hair, pasted down his face with rainwater. He looked very young.
“Youngjae!” squealed Himchan as he pulled him into a hug. “I think he likes me back!” he whispered quickly before letting go. “You met Jongup before… this is Junhong, a friend of his.”
The tall one nodded his head in acknowledgment. “Call me Zelo. It’s cooler.”
Youngjae looked at the three drenched people before him. Himchan and Jongup were dancing incredibly close to each other, and ‘Zelo’ was just kind of dancing by himself.
“We’ve got another couple of friends who are just coming back from the bar if you were wondering.” said Zelo.
Youngjae wasn’t wondering anything, but nodded all the same. As if on cue, another pair of guys joined the group. One of them went straight to Zelo, wrapped his arms around the tallest boy’s waist and kissed him passionately. His hair was a similar black colour to Youngjae’s own, but wilder. It was dripping with water. He was wearing what appeared to be ridiculously baggy pants and a black tank top and ̶    were those fingerless leather gloves? Youngjae didn’t even bother ask, this guy was too busy with Zelo’s face.
The second of the newcomers had pale copper hair, decorated with rain droplets. He was wearing plain black skinny jeans and an electric blue blazer. Youngjae had to admit, this guy had a nice . When he turned around, Youngjae pretended not to look – or rather, he tried to. The white t-shirt he was wearing under his blazer was soaked, accentuating his totally perfect torso. Youngjae almost choked when he saw the copper-haired boy’s face. He was gorgeous, and Youngjae didn’t think that about guys very often.
“Hi!” said a velvety voice. It took a moment for Youngjae to realize that the voice was attached to the perfect male specimen before him. “I’m Daehyun.” he said with a y smirk. “Are you a friend of Himchan?”
“Uhh, yeah. High school.” said Youngjae. He didn’t want this waterlogged hottie thinking he and Himchan were together. “I’m Youngjae.”
“Well, Youngjae,” he said. Youngjae almost fainted when he heard his name. “Care to dance?”
“Yes!” replied Youngjae, a little too excitedly.
Hips were swaying, shoulders were moving and arms were waving to the beat of whatever crappy pop song was playing. What was once a light shower had become mild downpour. Youngjae wasn’t able to tell what was rain and what was sweat anymore.

Youngjae stiffened momentarily as a hand found its way to a patch of bare skin on his hip. His breath hitched when he realized it was Daehyun’s. The boy with the copper hair pulled him closer, closer, closer until their bodies were pressed together, face-to-face. Youngjae’s fingertips traced Daehyun’s lips. Eyelashes and lips brushed dangerously close. Then, Daehyun’s lips smashed against Youngjae’s. The kiss was electrifying. Daehyun’s lips moved against Youngjae’s, and soon enough Youngjae was kissing back. Daehyun’s ivory fingers laced themselves through Youngjae’s soaking ebony hair – his other hand still resting on the skin of Youngjae’s hip. Youngjae himself had his arms around the other boy’s neck. He could feel the other’s heart beating against his own chest. Youngjae didn’t ever want to stop. What felt like a fireworks display played in his stomach, stray danced sparks on his spine – all for a boy he’d just met.
Suddenly, Daehyun pulled away. “Come with me.” he said through deep breaths, pulling Youngjae by the hand. He led the way, through the thriving crowd of young adults, to a large oak tree a few metres away from the excitement. Its normally-green leaves were glistening with raindrops, black, then neon, then black again in accordance to the lighting. Then, Daehyun pushed Youngjae against the trunk of the tree, tenderly kissing him. Youngjae’s hands slid to other boy’s shoulders. Daehyun’s hands rested on Youngjae’s hips. The kiss became harder and harder, the perfect combination of tongue, teeth and lips. Youngjae’s heart raced – sure, he’d kissed girls, guys, and everything in between, but no one had ever made him feel this way before. It was like someone had poured a jug of water over a toaster inside him, and a small electric storm was building up. Daehyun’s lips trailed down to Youngjae’s neck, and Youngjae could only gasp in surprise and satisfaction. This was unlike anything he’d ever experienced – and they were just kissing!
After what seemed like an eternity (but in reality, was only twenty or so minutes) of heated making out, Youngjae pushed his attractive companion off of him, ever so lightly.
“I live around the corner, if you want to take this somewhere else…” he breathed in Daehyun’s ear.
Daehyun looked at him with a sultry smirk. The only thing keeping Youngjae from swooning was Daehyun pinning him upright to the oak tree.
“What are we waiting for?” Daehyun whispered back.

As soon as the two arrived at Youngjae’s apartment bedroom, waterlogged clothes were discarded and skin touched skin with no fabric in between. Fingers brushed against each other, lips clashed and love was made. The night was hotter than it should have been, and after showers were taken the two settled down under the sheets.

Sunlight glared through the cracks in the curtains, directly in Youngjae’s eyes. When he opened them, his vision was greeted by a head of messy, light coppery-salmon coloured hair. Daehyun’s devilish beauty had transformed into an angelic kind, the hard edges and shadows of his face softened as he lay asleep, making him look younger and innocent – completely different from the gorgeous, y person he was last night. Moving slowly as to not disturb his company, Youngjae stood up off the bed, put a pair of jeans and a t-shirt on and trudged to the kitchen. It was at the breakfast bar that his hangover migrane started kicking in. After a few moments of brief suffering and an aspirin, he realized he was not alone. A shorter boy with really tight, leather pants and deep purple hair. He didn’t look as pretty as he did last night – not with those huge bags under his eyes.
“Hey Youngjae,” he said.

“Jongup?” replied Youngjae.
“Yep,” said Jongup. “Himchan’s just in the bathroom, he’ll be out in a moment.”
“So… you two… uh, came home together last night?”
“Yep.”
“Oh, um, cool.”
“What about you?” said Jongup with a sly grin, eagerly leaning over the counter.
“Uh, what about me?” replied Youngjae, flushing red.
“Did you bring anyone home last night?”
“Uh, yeah, Daehyun’s still asleep in my room…”
Just as the words escaped Youngjae’s lips, Himchan walked in.
“HA!” he shouted. “I told you you’d get laid!”
Jongup raised an eyebrow, but no one noticed.
“Well, technically Himchan you s—” Youngjae started.
“Nope! I win!” Himchan said, making his way to Jongup. Youngjae was just about to take a bite from his toast when the Himchan leaned over and pressed his lips against Jongup’s.
“Uh, guys…”
Jongup giggled. “Sorry!” he said, without really meaning it. Deciding that it would be impossible to eat his toast undisturbed, Youngjae took his plate and went back to his room. There, amongst the grey bed sheets lay Daehyun, in the same peaceful position. It wasn’t until Youngjae had finished his breakfast that Daehyun began to stir.
“How long have you been staring at me?” said the velvety voice belonging to Daehyun.
“Long enough,” replied Youngjae. “Do you want anything to eat?”
“I’m fine for now.” Daehyun said with a smile – not a y smirk, a genuinely happy smile – as he pushed his upper body off the bed. Youngjae couldn’t help but stare at his perfect torso. “Do you mind if I get changed?”
“Oh, sorry! I’ll wait outside—”
“No, that’s okay, I was kind of just warning you.” the boy with the pink hair said shyly, pulling his boxers on, then his jeans, then his t-shirt.
Youngjae couldn’t help but lean in and kiss him. Daehyun, clutching Youngjae’s shirt close to him, returned the kiss, a little more intense than before.
The sunlight poured through windows, brightening Daehyun’s dark eyes.
“What are you doing tonight?” whispered Daehyun, twirling Youngjae’s dark hair with his fingers. “I know a nice place we can, you know, go to eat. If you’re interested, that is.”
“Daehyun, are you asking me out on a date?”
“Maybe…” Daehyun replied with a mischievous smile.
“Well then I’d love to go.”
Daehyun’s lips met Youngjae’s, and the two kissed one more time. This time, they weren’t hormonal and intoxicated at a nightclub. They were just two people on a Sunday morning, kissing.
Youngjae would never admit it, but Himchan was right. He did meet someone. But not just anyone – he met Daehyun.

[A/N]
So I had started this a few months ago, proir to BAP arriving in Melbourne for the Live On Earth tour (which was amazing, by the way). I had only gotten to the first part (before the flashback-y thing) when I was completely overcome with a mountain of maths homework. These past two nights I resurrected this from my 'DEFINITELY NOT FAN FICTION' file and spent time finishing and reading over this. I really, really loosely based this off the song 'Dancing in the Rain' by BAP (obviously) because when I read the entire english translation of the lyrics I was like 'whoa man this is heavy... i need to write fanfiction about this'
I was gonna put in but writing kiss scenes were difficult enough as it is, I wasn't going to risk that lol
(it's hard to write about things with nO PERSONAL EXPERIENCE COUGH COUGH BOYS AT MY SCHOOL I MAY NOT BE THAT HOT BUT KISS ME ANYWAYS)
For the very few of you who are familiar with my stuff, you'll notice that I've taken down my two major chaptered fics. This is because they were and as I read over them, I couldn't stop cringeing. You could probably find them on my wattpad, if you looked hard enough.
For those of you who are not familiar with me, I'm Mando and I'm quite mediocre but I like to think I'm okay (not just with wrting, with everything in general)
Aaaaaaanyways, I've rambled on enough as it is. Thank you for reading this!!

As ever, don't forget to subscribe and comment!
I'd love to hear your thoughts on this story, and whether I should do more like this!!

Chapter 1: WAOOW I LOVE IT

Chapter 1: I really liked this story. Your kissing scene was a lot very hot and a lot better than some of the attempts at I've been reading lately. Even without experience, you captured the emotion felts during the action and reactions, and also remembered to show their positions and what their hands were doing. These are the things authors forget to do when writing scenes that drive me crazy, so I know when you decide to write one you'll do just fine.
Overall I thought the story was cute. It was a bit rushed, but they were drunk, so makes sense. I would really like to see how their date plays out. ^^
