“Go away!” Leo growled, pinning Hyuk against the wall by his throat, “how dare you pretend to be him! I’ll rip your throat and drain you dry.”
“Leo,” Hyuk choked out, hands searching about madly for anything he could use to free himself, “stop.”
“Hyuk!” Ravi yelled, charging down the hall beside N and knocked Leo away, “are you alright?”
“He’s a fake!” Leo howled in rage, trying to make another grab for Hyuk, “I’ll kill him!”
“No,” N frowned, pulling Leo away, “he’s not a fake. He’s Hyuk, Leo. He’s your Hyuk.”
“No,” Leo broke down sobbing, “they killed him, they took him from me. Why do they have to play with my mind by giving us this imitation? Why do you insist on keeping him?” Leo kept crying and it took all of Hyuk’s will power not to rush to his mate’s side to comfort him. Experience had taught him not to do that.
“Let’s go,” Ravi whispered, pulling Hyuk away and down the hall. Hyuk wanted to look back, but thought better of it. He didn’t want to see Leo in his current state, his heart couldn’t take it.
Ravi didn’t bother to ask how Hyuk was; he already knew. He’d heard Hyuk cry so many times from the room beside his own that he’d be a fool not to know how badly the other was hurting. The pain Leo was putting Hyuk through – accidently or not – was slowly killing the youngest of the six vampires and that hurt Ravi. Hyuk hadn’t fed properly in ages and it was starting to show in how thin he had become.
“I can’t do this anymore,” Hyuk said after Ravi sat down across from him in the living room, “I just…….I can’t.”
“No one will blame you for that,” Ravi replied, “he’s tried to kill you and Soohyun so many times already.”
Hyuk nodded, looking down as he recalled a few weeks prior when Leo had come so very close to killing their child because he thought she was just as fake as Hyuk. He’d broken down crying after, his sanity returning for the following three days, and Hyuk had forgiven him. However, the thought that his mate might try again to take their daughter’s life during one of his moments of insanity……it chilled Hyuk to the bone. Hyuk loved Leo with all of his heart, but he had to do what was best for their child. it didn’t help that those moment of sanity were so few and far between.
“I’m going to pack my things,” Hyuk said, “but……I’m selfish.”
“Why?” Ravi raised an eyebrow, “because you want to leave? Hyukkie, that’s not being selfish. It’s trying to keep yourself and Soohyun alive until Leo is sane again.”
“That’s not it,” Hyuk sighed, “I’m selfish because I don’t want to go alone.”
“You aren’t going to go alone,” Ravi promised, “I was planning to go with you.”
“What?” Hyuk blinked in surprise. He’d actually wanted to ask Ravi to go with him, but he hadn’t thought that the other would agree let alone already have planned to go.
“You’re still weak from giving birth, even ten months later,” Ravi failed to mention just how troubling that was, “and we still have those nuts hunting us. I can’t let you go alone. I can’t risk something happening to you or Soohyun.”
“Ravi,” Hyuk smiled a little, “thank you.”
“Go pack your things, alright?” Ravi smiled, “I’ll meet you in the lobby.” Hyuk nodded and left.
Ravi knew that the others would be furious with him for this, that they would question his motives for going with Hyuk. He didn’t care. He just couldn’t stand the thought of Hyuk being out there in the world alone. N would probably kill him for taking Hyuk and Soohyun away, claiming that having them with Leo would help the second eldest recover. Ravi found he didn’t care about that either.
“I can’t let him hurt them again,” Ravi sighed, thinking about what he’d seen moments ago; Leo attempting to strangle Hyuk to death. With that thought, Ravi left to gather his things, meeting Hyuk and Soohyun in the lobby a few minutes later before the three left.
N watched from his bedroom window as the three got into a taxi and left. He couldn’t find it in his heart to stop them. No, what he had witness the past couple of months was enough to convince him that Hyuk and Sooyoung would be safer away from Leo. There wasn’t anything that they could do for him, not as he was now. N closed his eyes, silently praying to whatever god would answer that Hyuk and Sooyoung would be safe, that Ravi would look after them, that Leo’s sanity would return for good, and that one day Hyuk would return so that he and Leo could be a family with Sooyoung once more.
