Hyuk laid on his bed, curled up in a ball and trying his best to keep his sobs quiet. He didn’t want to alert the others that something was wrong because that would upset them. He especially didn’t want Leo to know. The second oldest would just get angry and maybe do something foolish. The first – and last – time that Hyuk had shared his pain, had told the others what he was feeling, Leo had snapped and almost gotten himself killed in an attempt to kill one of their former tormentors.

Hyuk’s pain originated from the experiments that had been run on him. N figured that since most of his pain came from headaches, the leading cause was probably the experiments that had left him with shattered and missing memories. Hyuk knew that the oldest was right. Every time he had one of these….attacks there were flashes of memories mixed in with the pain. At least, he assumed that they were memories because they were similar to what the others had told him about their time in their cells. Or maybe they were just images his brain had created, trying to fill in the gaps and holes in his memory.

“Hyuk?” Leo called, slowly opening the door of the youngest room. He looked a little surprised to find the room dark, but his surprise quickly faded to concern when the light of the hall revealed Hyuk curled up on the bed.

“Hyung,” Hyuk tried not to let him pain into his voice, “what are you doing here?”

“Hyukkie,” Leo sighed, making his way over to the bed. Apparently, Hyuk hadn’t done too good a job of hiding his pain because Leo looked even more upset.

“I’ll be fine,” Hyuk tried to smile, but it was more of a grimace, “it will pass. It always does.”

“You shouldn’t have to feel this,” Leo growled, cuddling up beside Hyuk and pulling the younger tightly against him, “this is all their fault.”

“I’m not the only one,” Hyuk pointed out, resting his head on Leo’s chest, “N hyung and the others are all still suffering, too. You’re still suffering.”

“I’ll be fine,” Leo sighed, not liking how he’d just used the same words as Hyuk has used not ten minutes before.

“So will I,” Hyuk smiled, “the pain is already starting to go away.”

“I wish I could have known you before,” Leo sighed, pressing a kiss to the crown of Hyuk’s head, “I could have helped keep you safe, keep those monsters away from you.”

“I know,” Hyuk nodded, “but it’s worth it. We’ve got each other now.”

“Yeah,” the older nodded, grabbing Hyuk’s hand and bringing it to his lips.

The younger smiled before leaning up to connect their lips. Their kiss was slow and passionate, a simple communication of how deeply they loved each other. Leo pulled back and placed a trail of kisses along Hyuk’s jaw and down his throat. The older could smell the blood flowing through Hyuk and it reminded him that he had yet to feed that night. The younger seemed to realize what was going through the other’s mind and tilted his head back, silently telling Leo that is was alright to feed from him.

“You need to feed,” Leo frowned, pulling back, “more than me. I won’t feed from you until you’ve drunk as well.”

“Too sleepy,” Hyuk shrugged, cuddling against Leo, “I’ll feed later.” Leo nodded, grabbing Hyuk’s hand again.

The pair fell asleep together, their joined hands resting between them.
