Henry was lying in his bed, staring up at the ceiling. The room was enveloped by darkness. Sleep did not come easy for Henry Lau recently. He missed his family. He missed his friends in Canada. Yes, he had gotten more used to the idea of being without them over the years, but at night, he missed them tremendously. There was something about lying in the dark dorm, a world away from those he loved, which made him miss them more.

He looked over at the clock beside his bed. It flashed 2:30 AM. He still had time to sleep. To try to sleep at least. He tried to close his eyes. No matter what, sleep would not come to him. He sighed and got up. Maybe a glass of water or something would help clear his head. He walked out towards the kitchen to find the lights on.

In the kitchen drinking a cup of tea sat the “eternal maknae”. Ryeowook’s hair was messy and he wore a set of adorable giraffe pyjamas.  Except for that, he had dark circles underneath his eyes insinuating that he was suffering from lack of sleep as well. Henry felt a bit awkward standing in the doorway, considering the elder had yet to notice him. Henry cleared his throat to get the older man’s attention. Ryeowook looked up, shocked to see that he was not alone. He gave Henry a tired smile.

“Hi Henry-ah. Can’t sleep?” Ryeowook said softly. Henry nodded. “Yes, hyung. I’m a bit homesick, that’s all.” Ryeowook yawned. He was incredibly adorable. Even though the man was two years older than he was, he always looked cute in a way that made him look younger. “I usually sleep well. Tonight I just couldn’t sleep. I don’t know why. Maybe I’m lonely as well.” The older male said, his usually chirpy voice now toned down, more somber sort of.

Henry went and got himself a glass of water because he could not think of anything to say. It was quiet, the only sound filling the air being Henry drinking. The elder of the two sighed as he rose from his seat. He walked over to where Henry stood and gave him a hug from behind. Breaking the silence, the lead vocalist spoke softly. “At least now that you’re here I don’t feel as lonely anymore.” I heard his smile as he spoke. Henry relaxed into the hug and replied. “The feeling is mutual. Thank you, hyung. I really feel better when you’re here.” Ryeowook gave up his grip on him for a bit so he could turn around and face him.

Henry was the one to hug first this time. He hugged the older male tightly. He thought about their friendship for a moment. Ryeowook had always been there for him when things were tough. He always cheered him up. He could get through anything. To see that the other was going through some things himself made him want to pay him back in a way. Be the one to heal and help Ryeowook this time, as the elder had done for him.

 Before breaking the hug, he whispered; “If you ever have trouble sleeping, just come to me. I will welcome you with open arms. Also, if you ever have any problems or just need to talk, come to me. You should never suffer alone. You taught me that.” Ryeowook smiled at that. “Thank you, Henry-ah. I’ll remember that”

I have wanted to write about this ship for a long time, just never got around to do so. Originally I planned for this to be a oneshot, but I might write more.
