Scene 2: Itchy Blanket
UnscriptedLuhan: Stay still
Luhan is losing patience. Yixing is uncomfortable, and unnaturally good looking. It’s putting Luhan off.
Yixing: I’m sorry (stammers) I just-
Luhan: Shut up and stay still (very, very annoyed)
Yixing scratches the blanket one last time and flops his hands on his thighs.
Yixing: (Talks through the corner of his mouth so that it’s undistinguishable) Your stupid blanket is itchy.
Luhan gives him a cold stare and quickly finishes the final flick to add the wind blowing effect on Yixing’s hair.
Luhan: You may now put on your clothes (musters cold acting and looks away, hiding a blush with a dry cough)
Yixing: (Grumbles but puts on pants) (mumbles something unintelligible again)
Luhan: What did you say?
Yixing: I said… (sighs heavy and visibly distressed) You have the worst blanket in the world.
Luhan stops moving and suddenly feels his soul drift away from his body, leaving him hollow and broken.
Luhan: It’s my only blanket… (in a wispy whisper, barely heard by the winds)
Yixing: (Puts on his shirt, pretending not to see Luhan almost staring at his arms) Give me your address and number please.
Luhan: (Clears his throat) Whatever for? We’re done.
Yixing: Just give it to me. Write it down somewhere.
Luhan: (Scribbles it onto a napkin impatiently) There. Don’t go around stalking me.
Yixing: Wouldn’t dream of it. (Puts napkin in his back pocket) Did I do a good job? Can I see the end result?
Luhan: No. I mean, no you may not see. But yes, you were good (curt and refusing to look at Yixing, who quickens his pace to match Luhan)
Luhan couldn’t help but notice how Yixing has mismatched shoes, and orange coloured socks. They look horrible and comfortable. He shudders.
Yixing: Oh, good. Well… I…
Luhan: Yeah, I have to go. Bye. See you around.
Yixing waves and suddenly, the sight of his figure leaving carves a bigger hole in Luhan’s conscience. The promise of a change escapes his grasp again, and Luhan vows to not have more regrets. Because living on regret puts one in the past, imprisoned by timeless pain that seeps in and chokes you like smoke; it burns and dances in glee, watching Luhan grief.
So Luhan does not regret not offering Yixing dinner.
He carries his blanket back to its home, the only remainder of his broken love story.
