In a world where dragonrider teams are sponsored by guardian spirits to compete in matches for honor and glory, competition is always fierce though civil.  When gifted to riders by their guardian spirit, dragons are always of the opposite gender to maintain balance in the pairing.  A token spirit, echoing the image of the guardian and equally tied to the dragon, matches the gender of the rider and signifies specifically who the team competes under.  It is through the token spirit that additional boons are given when the riders merit such things.

The token spirit however, is also indicative of the health of their guardian.  Should something ill befall the primary spirit, the token spirits disappear, leaving both dragon and rider to madness as the balance is broken.

Yongguk and the rest of the Matoki riders now face that reality.  With their own Matoki spirit slain and the world nearly lost, they have but one final chance to set things right.  Should they fail, all will be lost.

So, I watched How to Train Your Dragon 2 the other day and had major dragon feels so this was the result.  For some reason, BAP seemed to fit best in my head and here we have it.  lol  It's not really a pairing fic, focusing more on brotherhood, though if you squint really hard, you can sort of piece together a couple I guess.

For clarification sake, because the names are somewhat similar throughout, I was playing off the Matoki and their names for the dragons and the matoki tokens.

Yongguk rides Matoshi and has the matoki ShiShi

Himchan rides Matota and has the matoki Tats

Daehyun rides Matoke and has the matoki Keke

Youngjae rides Matoko and has the matoki Joko

Jongup rides Matoda and has the matoki Dada

Junhong rides Matoto and has the matoki Toto
