“Hey, guys.” A voice rang out as they were busy scarfing down their meal.

“Yes, Kris hyung?” Xiumin looked up from his plate.

“Did you guys notice the beach outside?” Kris asked. He gazed at the beach outside without looking at anyone.

“Yes, of course, we’re not blind,” Baekhyun chided. Then he looked at Kris curiously. “But… why are you asking this?”

“Maybe we should go out for a walk.” Kris said. It seemed more like Kris was murmuring to himself than speaking to them.

“YES, WE SHOULD TOTALLY! WHO”S IN FOR IT?” Chen yelled in such a sudden, causing Kris to jump up in his seat in surprise.

Soon everyone was shouting at the top of their voices. Kris lost count of the ones who shouted as there were too many of them.

Kris felt relieved as there were no others than them in the dining room of the resort. He could just imagine other people’s weird stares.

“But…. Kris, won’t you guys get caught?” D.O pointed out as he fiddled with his spoon. “I mean, I am a human of some sort; I don’t need to transform or anything but you all need to. In fact, you all would even get suspicious stares from other people.”

“I don’t think all those worries are necessary. We’re in human form now, by the way.” Kris replied, the dreamy look back on his face again.

Others gaped at him with surprise. Kris was always someone who forbade them from doing things that would gain people’s attention; he even forbade them to take a single step out of the mansion if it was not an emergency. He was the one who made ridiculous rules about not being seen by other living humans, etcetera etcetera. What exactly had gotten into him tonight?

Kris blatantly noticed their suspicious stares. He cleared his throat rather awkwardly. “Well, tonight is a special night. We have never gone out for an outing before. Besides, I am happy that we could actually get away from our daily lives for a few days, and don’t need to think about the things that we don’t intend to in the first place…” Kris’ voice turned soft  and he lowered his head; he looked as if he was deep in thoughts. He put on an expression that was hard to read.

But, his eyes were the dominant part which makes D.O feels queasy. His eyes, the stare, the vibe… D.O felt like he had seen them before. The feeling when he looked into Kris’ eyes felt so deep, like a black pit which him in and never got the chance to pull out; the feeling which made him felt like his stare had a depth which no one could reach. He tried to recall. Nothing. He didn’t remember where he seen it before.

D.O gave a sigh. Shrugging off the thought, he sat back into position, fixing his gaze on the moon and admiring the white piece of light that was lighting the night sky. He had seen it before, he swore that he had seen it before…  But the question now was, WHO? WHERE? WHEN?

“Guys, are we going or not?” Tao asked, glancing at the silent crowd.

Suho was the first to react; he smiled and got up. “Of course Tao, let’s go.”

Just as Suho said that, it seemed as if the silence spell had broken. Everyone returned back to their obstreperous selves.

With that, everyone went to the beach together.

 

----D.O’s POV----

I swore that I had seen those eyes before. But where and who, and mostly why? Why did it feel so familiar to me? Why did I have a feeling that this is linked to my nightmares? Are those even nightmares? Did they even happen before in real life? And how about the chest? What has it to do with them? What in the world is happening right now?

Millions of thoughts were running about my mind in full speed.

It was impressive where the joyful shouts and jubilant laughers of the members joking and playing around were unable to separate me from my thoughts. It was also weird which the members also never bothered me. It was like I was totally missing or didn’t even exist. I had never felt so lost and confused before.

I sighed again, louder this time.

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH ME?!

There was surely someone who cared about D.O, and he was the only one who noticed D.O’s absence.

Kai was looking about frantically for D.O. He sighed in relief when he saw D.O sitting on a bench quite far away from them. He seemed… quite lonely. The glow that the lamp post above had showered him with made his loneliness more conspicuous.  For no reason at all, Kai felt his heart softened. He made his way over right away and planted himself beside D.O.

He tried to strike up a conversation. “Hey D.O!”

However, D.O didn’t give any response.

Kai decided to try again. “Err… Hyung, so what brings you to sit here all alone?”Right after that sentence left his mouth, Kai felt like slapping himself.

GOSH, YOU SHOULD ALWAYS WORK ON YOUR SENTENCES BEFORE YOU SAY IT THE NEXT TIME, KAI!!! He scolded himself mentally.

Seeing no response, he leaned forward and waved a hand in front of D.O’s face, trying to startle him. However, to his utmost surprise, D.O didn’t even blink at all. Not even once. He was staring out at the sea like a stone statue. Kai couldn’t help but to wonder.

IS HE DEAD?

“D-D.O? Are you there?” Kai looked rather confused by the state D.O was in right now. He looked… confused? And mostly, he looked blank. Kai was getting really worried about him. D.O had been more silent than ever since the lightning incident. He seemed to zone out every single moment.

Kris was doing the exact same thing. What exactly did they have in mind? But before he could further his thoughts, instantly Kai felt something strong.

Yes, he heart was thumping hard right at the moment. However, there was something else. He didn’t know if it was a misunderstanding; he felt that somehow, D.O looked familiar. He felt as if he had seen D.O before, just like a flash in the mind when you are trying to recall someone. He paused for a second, feeling rather puzzled but he took that matter as no significance, and he shrugged it off.

D.O who seemed to have been shaken out of his thoughts finally spoke-with a confused face. “Huh? Did you call me?”

“Well, yeah, I did… D-Did I interrupt something?” Kai asked carefully. He was afraid if he had done anything wrong.

“Nope, you did not interrupt anything.” D.O said, flashing Kai a cherubic smile.

Kai could swear that his heart skipped a bit “So… if you are not doing anything… why not …err… join us? ‘Cause we are playing a group game and my group is short of a player.” Kai said, trying his best not to stutter.

D.O could sense the nervousness in Kai’s voice, so he quickly replied a “Yes”, not wanting to make the latter wait too long and make the situation more awkward. Besides, what was there to be nervous about?

“Alright then, let’s go!” Kai said, and D.O trailed after him.

Soon, the awkwardness was forgotten as Kai and D.O were instantly absorbed in the game.

That night passed by rather joyously for everyone.

D.O woke up the next morning to find himself on the couch and that Kai was missing. It was obvious to D.O that Kai had waked up. D.O sat up, rubbing his eyes and trying to rub away the tiredness he felt.

Deep inside his mind, he was thinking about why and how he got here. After his mind was less foggy, thoughts of last night came pouring into his mind.

After the tiresome walk on the beach, they all tried to pile themselves into the living room but couldn’t manage to as there were too many luggages.

 “The living room is quite messy,” Sehun complained.

“It certainly is.” Luhan agreed. He was a person who couldn’t bear the sight of untidy things.

 “There’s too many luggage.” Xiumin pointed out. “We should put them somewhere.”

“But there’s no other place.” Chanyeol groaned. “We’ve occupied all the other rooms.”

A sly smile lit up Chen’s face. Everyone recognized that smile at once; it often meant that he was up to no good. “Well, actually, there IS somewhere we can put all these.”

D.O felt uneasy all of a sudden. He gulped nervously. “Where?”

Chen turned to him sharply, the smile still etched on his face. “Your room.”

D.O and Kai’s jaw dropped open. “What?!”

“You heard me,” Chen grinned widely. He turned to the others.“How’s my idea?”

Sehun nodded, and grinned back, clapping Chen on his back. “You’re a genius.”

“Are you all serious?” Kai argued, unsatisfied, and turned to Kris for justice. He put on a pleading look. “Kris, please say something.”

Kris cocked his aside and seemed to think for a while. The corners of his lips tugged upwards slightly. “Actually, I think it is quite a good idea.”

Kai looked at Kris, agape. “What? H-How can you all treat us like that? Where shall we sleep?”

 ”Well, you both can sleep on the couch.” Baekhyun said, pointing at the couch.

“No! It’s impossible to sleep there! I might wake up with a severe backache!” Kai raged, and turned to Kris for help.

Kris raised an eyebrow, unconcerned. “Well… Sleeping on the couch is better than sleeping on the floor.”

“Great!” Chen clapped his hands. “Now, let’s carry our luggage to their room!”

Everyone picked up their luggage respectively and left for Kai and D.O’s room, leaving the said two standing on the spot wide eyed, not believing what had happened.

 “Aiysh, Baekhyun should keep his laundry away! Why did he have to throw it on the floor?” D.O muttered to himself as he stepped carefully over a pile of dirty clothes. He was trying to go to the kitchen and get a glass of water, but the room was like a wiped-out scene. There was just too much laundry to dodge, considering the fact that there were twelve men in the house.

D.O thought of Kai who was assigned to do the laundry. He shook his head in amazement. “How does Kai even get through all these laundry?”

D.O had successfully made his way to the kitchen counter. But as when he was pouring water out of the jug, some sort of muffled noise caught his attention. Curiosity got the best of him and he followed the voice until he reached the balcony. When he looked out, he saw Kai talking to himself with erratic hand movements.

A frown was etched on D.O’s forehead. WAIT, DO PEOPLE TALK TO THEMSELVES WHILE DOING WEIRD GESTURES? PEOPLE-NO, I MEAN GHOSTS ARE GETTING WEIRD THESE DAYS, HUH?

D.O decided that Kai looked quite weird as he was muttering something on the balcony while moving his hands up and down. At one point he looked very flustered, but then at another point he looked satisfied. D.O just couldn’t make out which expression made him look the cutest. He chuckled to himself. But just when he was about to, a sentence halted him in his steps.

“I… like you?”

D.O went wide-eyed at that sentence. He swiveled around in less than a second, but he saw that Kai didn’t notice him at all; he just continued doing so. D.O decided to go back to his place to finish the book he started a few days ago. On the way, he mentally made a note to himself.

KAI IS PRACTISING TO CONFESS TO SOMEONE.WHO WILL IT BE?

But then he shook his head and dispersed those thoughts. Why am I even thinking of this?

Later in the morning, Kris and Tao went out to the nearest market to buy groceries so that they could cook meals in the hotel room. Most of them complained that it was unnecessary, as they could always went down for a meal. But Kris, as usual, wanted to save money.

 The television was out on full force, and also they were chatting blithely with each other, all ignoring the fact that they had not eaten breakfast yet.

“Luhan! Where is my food?! I am starving!” Sehun shouted out to Luhan who was currently twisting away at his rubix cube.

Luhan hated it immensely when someone disturbed him when he was doing the rubix cube. A frown made its way up between his brows. “Sehun! There’s no need to shout! I am just right beside you! As you know, there is no food by the moment! Where exactly do you want me to find food?!”

“I don’t care, I am starving now!” Sehun yelled, but then he stopped. “Hold on, didn’t you buy some snack bars last night?”

“But those were for me! I am not going to starve myself to death when there is nothing to eat, ok?”

“But I am really starving!!! Just give me one, pwetty pwetty pwease? Luhan hyung, saranghae!!!!” Anyone can tell that Sehun was really desperate to eat now as he seldom did aegyo. And when he was desperate, he did anything-yes, everything-anything like making a love shape with his hands, cuddling his partner, Luhan tightly and even making puppy eyes that they thought never even exist.

Luhan couldn’t help but to chuckle at the sight of Sehun, and eventually he gave in to Sehun. “All right Sehun-ah, I will give you my snack bar. Just wait here.” Luhan said with a chuckle.

All these were just plain cute in D.O’s eyes. It was just so cute, no other words could describe it. D.O was currently sitting on the kitchen’s counter, swinging his legs about, and that gave him a great view of what was happening in the living room. The members were all lovey-dovey around their partners. Maybe this trip was a great idea after all. Even Kris got to spend some time alone with his panda Tao. Although today might seem like Valentine, but here he was, sitting alone in the kitchen while all his so called ‘friends’ were having a wonderful time with each other. He somehow felt jealous that they have partners. Well…. He had wanted some companion to talk to since the first day he moved in, but he just simply couldn’t find any. Suho was good to him, but he was always preoccupied by Lay and he seldom had the time to talk to him. (Others said that they were not a couple, but D.O doubted that.) Others were just playing companions; they are not the kinds who would sit down and indulge in that kind of ‘crappy’ adult talk with him. D.O ended up sighing.

“What’s with the sigh?” A voice rang out suddenly behind him, causing him to jump.

D.O turned around just to find Suho beaming at him. “Oh, it’s nothing, really. I was just thinking about life and how it ends so quickly.” D.O laughed bitterly.

“Oh my, why are you so tensed and dried out! We are on Jeju island, for goodness’ sake! Why not cheer up a bit! There is nothing wrong in people dying, right?”

“Yeah, I should cheer up a bit, huh?” D.O said as he looked up, but his expression was still sad, which made Suho’s smile smudged a little. Then, it was like the wires in Suho’s mind connected, giving a tingling feeling that made him realize what was actually going on right at the moment.

“You are not exactly thinking about death right now, isn’t it, D.O yah?” Suho walked closer and eventually filled up the empty space beside D.O.

“H-Huh, what do you mean?” D.O looked panic-striken. He was still totally surprised by the fact that Suho just saw through his lies. It had been ages since he met someone who had easily done this, and since his childhood friend disappeared, he found out that lying was a decent action.

“I mean, you are not exactly saying about what you are thinking, right?” Suho glanced at the living room before he continued his sentence. “Can you just tell me about who you are missing?” Suho said with a smirk plastered on his face.

“Wh….what….what are you tal..talking about? I am not missing anyone-why should I miss someone?” D.O half chanted with a half smile, while the other half had been flattered by the panic that was written all over his face. Little did he know, a tint of red was creeping up his cheeks, making them scalding hot.

“Hey man, your cheeks are red and your actions showed that you are definitely missing someone, or even better, loving someone! Am I right? Am I? Am I?” Suho just loved the feeling of teasing someone, leaving that particular person at the edge of his seat.

“Ah, what the hell, hyung? I am definitely not blushing! Yah, I am not missing anyone, ok? It’s just… it’s just…” D.O started to stammer for no particular reason.

“It’s just what? It’s just hard to confess to him? Owh, pretty please, I said I could help! Just come and ask me then!” Suho said with a playful tone.

“Oh, hoho… No hyun, I won’t be there. Well I am apparently straight! I don’t fall for men!” He said without realizing, and he clamped his mouth shut. He knew that he had said something he would regret when the door opened and the sound which made his heart ran wild pierced through the air.

“Guys, I am back!” Kai said into mid-air although he was expecting no one to answer. Then, he walked towards the kitchen counter and sat down on the empty spot.

D.O blushed madly, but Suho laughed loudly.

‘So I won’t be here to interrupt your ‘lovey-dovey stare’. Just don’t bore holes on each other, ok? Hahahahahahahaha!” Suho laughed while he walked away.

“Am I really in love? But with who?” He couldn’t help but mutter to himself, letting himself to swim inside his thoughts.

It was noon when Kris and Tao finally came back. In fact, they had made their friends starve for a whole morning and eventually skipped breakfast.

Suho was furious. Chanyeol was furious. Baekhyun was furious. Everyone was furious, so they decided to stand in front of the room’s door and give them a beating for making them famished.

“Hey guys- wait, what is the commotion about?” Tao was the first one to go into the room and look around just to be greeted by angry faces.

Kris came in too, and was surprised. “What commotion is it abo- wowowow, why are you guys like this? Chill out, man.”

“OH KRIS, DON’T YOU KNOW HOW LONG HAVE WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU TO COME BACK WITH OUR BREAKFAST?! HOW LONG HAVE WE STARVED WHILE WAITING FOR YOU?! HOW ON EARTH WE SURVIVED OUR MORNING BREAKFAST WITH ONLY A FEW SNACK BARS?! AND YET YOU ARE OUT HAVING A DATE WITH TAO?! AND WORSE OF ALL WE STARVED BECAUSE OF YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

“W-What? Date? We are not even a co-“ Kris tried to explain, but never had the chance to.

“CHARGE!!!!!!!”

With Baekhyun and Chanyeol’s orders, all of them charged forward and began beating them up.

 “Did you buy all the things we need?” Luhan asked as he went through the groceries.

“Yeap, I sure did.” Tao nodded as he aided his swollen eyes. With his swollen eyes, he looked more like a panda than ever.

“You did not miscount anything this time, eh?” Kris raised an eyebrow.

“Of course not, Kris hyung! You are with me, remember?”

“Great work Tao, or else we will get beaten up again.” Kris gave a sigh of relief.

It was four thirty in the evening, and the members were all preparing for a barbeque session at six. It was to make up for what Tao and Kris had done in the afternoon.

“Lay, Chen, Xiumin, afterwards I am going to bring down all these equipment, so I would like you to help me.”

“Yes, Luhan hyung!” All the three chanted.

“Chanyeol-ahh where did the meat go?”

“It’s right there, Baek.”

“Ok, thanks!”

“Where is my Gucci bag that I just bought? Kris!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

“TAO! STOP GUCCI HERE AND GUCCI THERE; COME HELP ME WITH THE EUIPMENT!” Sehun’s limbs were tangled with the equipment he just couldn’t make out how to fix it.

“Ugh ok, fine.” Tao walked over with an annoyed face.

In the midst of the chaos, while the members were busy with the preparations, Kai and Suho were nowhere to be found. D.O was sent to find them.

“Gah, where are those two? It’s such a trouble-” D.O was instantly silenced when he saw Kai and Suho out in the balcony. But, what caught his attention was Kai’s hand that was holding Suho’s. Kai’s fingers were entwined with Suho’s, and he looking deeply into Suho’s eyes. The distance between them were just a hair’s width. D.O’s heart was instantly ripped apart . He felt sadness, sorrowness, and what made his feelings even worse was when Kai opened his mouth and said,”I know I might be crazy while saying this but…….. I … I like you.”

D.O’s heart shattered into pieces as he saw the distance between their faces getting closer and closer. He turned away and left with a tear on lingering on his cheek.

However, if only D.O had stayed longer, he would have known that this was a misunderstanding.

“Oh my you did great! I am sure D.O will fall for you tonight!!”

“Are you sure, Suho hyung? Will he fall for it? Or will he decline it? Reject me?”  Kai was extremely nervous.

“Nope, I can be 101% sure everything will go smoothly.” Suho looked at Kai confidently.

“Is it? Thanks, Suho hyung for helping me practicing.”

“Sure, no problem Kai.”

The hotel room was bursting with flurry. Everyone was making full use of their time to prepare for the barbeque session later.

“Luhan, are we going to move the equipment down now?”

“Oh yes, Chen… Wait, what time is it now?” Luhan paused from the work that we was doing and took a glance at his watch. His eyes widened. “ SEVEN PM?! Lay! Xiumin! Sehun!! We should take the equipments down now! Come quickly!”

The hotel room was soon starting to get deserted as everyone had already left the room gradually. It was soon that only two person were left in the room.

Kai was preparing to went down when he noticed D.O sitting by the window. He was worried when he saw the sullen look on D.O’s face.

Why is D.O so quiet? Why is he looking blankly out the window? Why is he sitting there all alone? Why is he so moody? Did something happen?

Kai was very concerned that D.O had stopped talking since he came back from the walk this morning. It seemed like he was down in the dumps and also distraught. He wasn’t his usual whimsical self again. Besides, D.O’s actions seemed quirky and idiosyncratic today. He looks distracted all the time like something is bothering him from the deep of his head. Kai just couldn’t help but to get concerned about D.O.

“Hey uhm... Are you feeling well today?” Kai finally gathered all his courage and talked to D.O, but he was astonished when D.O answered back.

“Yeah, of course I am feeling great,” D.O said in a sarcastic tone. “I never knew you even bothered about me.”

Kai’s mouth swung open at his response. He was taken aback, and instantaneously went speechless.

“Well, what I really mean was… well…. Err….well…” He found no reason to stutter but still he did.

D.O gave a bitter laugh. “Well what? You don’t even bother to finish your sentence well. Get out of my way punk, before I do anything unexpected to you.” He didn’t even give Kai a chance to reply as he sped away with a sullen look on his face.

Kai was definitely dumbfounded. His mind could not register anything. He did not expect D.O to act so ludicrous and yet he was so somber. Kai tried to remember if anything had upset him, but he just couldn’t think about anything. He was starting to wonder if tonight’s confession was going to go well.

“All right guys! Meat is served! DIG IN!” Kris happily announced and the members dug in, feeling rather famished.

Kris seemed happy today, a little bit TOO happy. He was dancing around, busy making idle jokes with each other and even bursting into uproarious laughter. Suho who sensed his abnormal actions quickly leaned in and tried to have a conversation with him.

“I say, today you look fabulous Kris!”

“Oh please, I ALWAYS look fabulous.” Kris said with a smirk evident on his face.

Suho rolled his eyes before he continued. “Gosh, seriously, stop flirting with me! Did you have any good news?”

Kris’ expression clearly turned from happy to serious. He paused a bit before he opened his mouth.

“Nope, not yet. In fact, I sense that we need to find the chest, fast.”

“Well? Only that? I thought you’re going to tell me that the curse has been broken or ‘hey! Tao accepted me as my boyfriend!’  , whatever else there is. ” Suho said with a laugh which sounded so retarded that makes Kris want to smack him on the head.

Kris was totally embarrassed when Suho mentioned about Tao but as usual, he kept his face straight. Slowly turning back his ‘happy mode’, he smiled widely.

“Oh well I am happy because… Well, we actually get to feel the calm breeze of the waves before getting swept away by them… You know, sometimes a same thing can give you joy but when it turns its back on you, you will never know what will happen.” Kris said still having his smile on but he smiled rather bitterly.

“What do you mean by that?’ Suho surely was taken aback by the sudden seriousness and deepness in Kris’ words which sent a chill down his spine.

“Nothing. You will found out one day” Kris said vaguely before leaving the scene, leaving a confused Suho with questions swimming in his head.

Suho gave a troubled sigh, shaking his head. “I’ll never understand that guy.”

Kai was feeling extremely nervous right at the moment. His palms were sweaty and his heart was thumping wildly. His mind was running at breakneck speed. He couldn’t help but to nudge Suho who was sitting beside him. Suho turned to him with an amused look on his face.

“Oh my gosh Kai, if you keep on sweating like this I doubt that D.O will be thinking that you look fabulous today!” Suho just loved to tease the chocolate haired boy.

Kai looked down at himself- dark, skinny jeans which seemed to be at ankle length, dark blue canvas shoes which seemed to fit the fashion, a simple white tee with ‘I AM THE BEST’ printed on it, alongside with a brown baseball jacket with black long sleeves. Kai always loved to roll up the sleeves because he thought that it made him look more ‘sophisticated’- which blatantly did not. Kai was all set and ready to do the thing that he had planned.The only thing missing now was D.O who was nowhere in sight.

“I will get going now, hyung. Wait for my good news.” Kai left with a smile and Suho smiled back just in time before Kai turned his head in search of D.O.

“Where are you, D.O?” Kai was in an impressively good mood now despite the fact that he was nervous as hell. To soothe himself up a bit, he started to hum a song to wash away all the anxiousness.

After a few good moments, he finally found D.O. His heart skipped a beat when he saw that D.O was sitting alone (again) beside the barbeque fire while staring into mid-air. Obviously, he was still moody.  He looked at D.O’s clothes before he proceeded any further. D.O was going simple that night: a pair of light-washed jeans, black converse shoes and a black and tucked in white buttoned-down shirt. His style was simple but Kai could swear there was nobody else who could pull off simple styles even better than D.O.  His smile grew wider. Quietly, he walked towards D.O and sat down beside him.

KAI, CALM DOWN, OK?  NOW, LEAD HIM INTO A CONVERSATION.

“Hey.”

“Hey.”

GREAT, Kai thought. Now you only spoke a word to him and he just did the same.

Kai cleared his throat, trying his best to strike up a conversation. “So…  How are you enjoying the night?”

“Well, it’s quite fun actually, and well... Err…. Sorry for what I did just now... in the evening…I was just… a bit grumpy, that’s all.” D.O looked directly down at the rock by his feet and didn’t even dare to look at Kai in the eyes.

“Oh… “Kai paused for a while, trying to find an answer. “Well, I am quite cool about things like that. They don’t upset me much.”

Lying, Kai thought to himself, you’re completely lying.

“Oh, really? So, you will forgive me? Thanks,” D.O said with a warm smile creeping up his face.

“Sure no problem… Err… I was going to ask… Err… Do you wanna hang out a bit?”

“Hang out? What do you mean by that?” D.O looked confused.

“Well, you know, just hang out like what mostly teenagers would do… Chillin’ out in coffee shops, playing around in supermarkets and all those fun things you teenager considered as ‘fun’.”

“Oh, well, ok then… friends, is it?” D.O could feel the pain in his heart getting stronger when he knew that Kai’s heart had been taken by someone else. But still, he held out his hand gesturing for a handshake, trying not to be rude. Besides, there were tons of people out there waiting for him to accept them. D.O couldn’t help but to let his smile fade a little bit when Kai reached for his hand.

“Uhm… D.O? I…Err….I…actually….ac-actually got something to tell you.” He just couldn’t hide his nervousness in his voice. The feeling inside was just too overwhelming for words.

“Yeah, go on” D.O said, not letting go of Kai’s hand.

Just then, Kai suddenly tightened his grip on D.O’s hand, which made D.O flinched a bit. D.O was surprised by Kai’s sudden action. He dared not to imagine what might happened next.

“D.O, I know this might be crazy but… I… like you.”

“What-what did you just say?” D.O just could not believe his ears.

“I said I like you, will you accept me as your boyfriend?”

Kai was one hundred and one percent sure that D.O was going to accept his request but D.O, as usual, broke his heart.

“Why?” D.O asked him with an unbelievable look on his face.

Kai stared at him, blinking. “W-What do you mean by ‘why’? I like you; what’s wrong with that?”

“Well, I-I…” D.O stammered, unable to complete his sentence, and looked away. Kai could certainly see disappointment in his eyes.

“D.O,” Kai called softly, ”if this is about you and me being straight-“

“No!!” D.O said all of a sudden, cutting off Kai’s sentence. He still refused to look at Kai. “It’s not about that.”

Kai looked flabbergasted.“If that’s not the case, what exactly is troubling you then?”

“Well, I-I just don’t get it!! You already have someone else!” D.O said in bitter disappointment.

Kai went wide eyed at D.O’s sentence. “What? Where did you hear that from? I never have someone else!”

 They were getting louder and louder by the second, making all the members to turn around and look at them. But both D.O and Kai were too engrossed in their argument to even care.

“Yes, you did! Don’t treat me like I don’t even know anything!” There was disappointment and anger in D.O’s voice, which startled Kai very much. D.O had never been like that before. “I saw everything when you and… he were out on the balcony! I saw it, Kai! I freaking saw it! I expect so much from you, but now you’re trying to pull wool over my eye?! You’re just another someone who loves to play with other people’s feelings, huh? Liking someone and when you turn your back, your eyes are already on someone else!” D.O paused, and took in a deep breath. Tears were beginning to stream down his cheeks. His voice turned soft.” I-I am really disappointed in you, Kai.” With that, D.O shook off Kai’s grip and he walked away. The others were all dumfounded at the scene.

Kai, who apparently was also as confused as the other members, stood there wide eyed while eyeing the shorter male walk away. Words just couldn’t connect in his mind. It was about time when he suddenly realized the situation on what had happened. Without any hesitation, he ran towards D.O and grabbed him by the arm, forcing D.O to face him.

“D.O-yah! All of this-Everything-It’s just a misunderstanding!”

D.O laughed dryly. “What excuse are you going to make up this time? That you are not a player? You’re a saint boyfriend who dumped a someone whom you just confessed to in the morning and confessing to another one straightly afterwards? How would you explain hat?!” D.O’s voice was dripping of poison as he blinked his tears away.

“Gosh, D.O! Listen to me! Let me explain! It’s all just a misunderstanding! I practiced my confession to you with Suho this morning just so at I can confess to you right now! I only have my eyes for you, D.O-yah . I only like you.” Kai was leaning in closer until his both hands had set on D.O’s shoulder. Just like he had been casted under a spell, D.O didn’t even flinch. He just stood there with his eyes widened.

“I like you, D.O yah, no one else, so... would you be my boyfriend?” Kai asked in a soft voice.

Everyone else on the spot didn’t know what to say or do; they just sat there with their mouths wide open as they had not expecting this to happen. But D.O’s never saw all that; his ears went deaf, he could listen to nothing except for his own voice.
