Kris had been pacing the courtyard for the past hour. Each step he took, his thoughts were rattled with something. Like a bad premonition. He ignored the guards, maids and servants passing by and focused on his ponderings. He couldn’t sleep properly last night because there was a strange presence lurking within the palace.   He could feel that the unknown presence was something dark and ill-omened. It was like a force of dark energy so rich in evil, it had the potential to harm everything and everyone. But still, Kris had not pinpointed the core of the dark energy, it seemed like it would only appear during the night, when most were vulnerable and cast deeply in their dreams.    He’d experienced the eerie feeling atleast 3 times during his stay at the palace. At first, he didn’t think anything of it until last night when he caught peculiar shadows skimming the palace walls.  *I must inform the others* He thought and lifted his gaze to meet the warm temperature of the sun.    “Kris?”   Kris escaped his thoughts, and produced a grin when he saw the red-haired female approach him with a lazy smile.   “What are you doing here so early in the morning?” She asked, shooting him a suspicious glance, “Have you seen someone that has gained your attention?” Chaeyoung asked, peering over her shoulder and pretending to look for a potential candidate to his heart. Kris’s expression straightened, “Not funny Chaeyoung.” He said dryly.   Chaeyoung furrowed her brows, “Then what’s the matter?” She questioned, genuinely concerned.    Though she was not his mate, Kris found Chaeyoung furiously cute. He couldn’t resist imitating her small smile that lingered on her pouty lips. Thoughts aside, Kris wasn’t sure if he should tell Chaeyoung of his eccentric premonition. There was no doubt that Chaeyoung would easily believe him but was this information intended for him to share?   “Did you feel it?” Kris asked in utmost seriousness.   Chaeyoung gulped and straightened up. She’d never seen Kris serious in a while. She scrutinised him carefully, wondering what was making the noble unsettled in his own land. Chaeyoung shook her head to indicate a ‘no’ for Kris’s question. Kris dropped his gaze and his fists tensed into balls. “There is something noxious in this palace. I can feel it prowling around at night. “ He gnashed out in a strained and quivering voice.    There was a distant look etched on Kris’s face. His expression was taut and his jaw set firmly straight. He seemed to be radiating his noble power since people were beginning stop and to stare at him with muddled minds.    “Kris, you’re gaining too much attention.” She nudged one his muscled arms while staring back at the crowd he’d attracted. “Eh?” Kris blinked as he visibly relaxed and unclenched his muscles.
