Zoey’s POV

I could still remember that day as though it was yesterday. Thinking about the twists and turns of those months alone still make dizzy. That one day...that turned all our lives upside down…

It was a typical friday, no different than any friday. I was sitting crossed legged on the couch with a bowl of popcorn on my lap and Mean Girls on the screen. I took a chance to glance over at my friend Dean who was sitting on the other side of the couch. Nikki and I met Dean during our first year of University. Even though I was a bit apprehensive having a guy in our inner circle, Nikki was all for it. Now, we are in our final year of University and Dean is more like my brother now.

Ah Dean...I bit my tongue to stop from laughing. His eyes were glued to the screen. Considering he was so against the idea (something about chick flicks and protecting his manhood or something) it was hilarious to see him so attentive. I considered doing something like taking a picture and posting it on facebook when my phone beeped...or moaned. Dean glanced over at me, glaring. “Ugh, get a new ringtone,” he snapped and turned his head back to the screen. I rolled my eyes as I glanced at the text message. Sure enough, Nikki’s name and icon floated on the screen. I have to remember to change my password...again. I opened the message and glanced over it, paused, then read it over again, my eyes widening by the second.

I must have scanned that message 50 times or so. Nikki? Engaged? She wasn’t even dating anyone! Much less being engaged...I wasn’t even aware that she knew any guys with the exception of Dean!

Speaking of Dean, I glanced over at him. Even though he would never admit it, I knew he was in love with Nikki. There was just a way that he looked at her when she wasn’t paying attention.

“What’s up? You look like someone stole your best friend,” Dean said, chuckling. I closed my eyes. I did NOT want to be the one to tell Dean that the girl he was in love with was engaged...he has quite the temper…

“Earth to Zoey...Helloooooooo???”

“D-Dean…”

“Yeah?”

“Um...that was Nikki-”

“WHAT? IS SHE OKAY? WHERE IS SHE? IS SHE HURT? WHY ARE WE SITTING AROUND WATCHING-”

“Dean! It’s okay! She’s fine,” I reassured him. I sighed as Dean sat back down on the couch, his eyes narrowed. This was not going to be easy. I twiddled my thumbs as Dean chugged down a bottle of water. I can’t do this...there’s no way…

“NIKKI’S ENGAGED!” I blurted out as Dean choked. I gasped and went to hit his back, mentally hitting myself. Woooow….great timing Z.

“W-wow! That’s great!” Dean gasped, wiping his mouth with his sleeve. “Really?” I asked, observing him. His cheeks were pink and he was out of breath. However, his face was void of emotion. He locked down face...this was bad. Dean nodded as he stood up. “Really great! Yeah...Um...Well tell her I said congrats...I’m just gonna go outside for a bit…”

“Alright,” I said softly as Dean went out to the balcony. I shook my head as the moans started again on my phone. I glanced down at the new message.

I sighed and glanced over at the balcony. Well...there’s no point prolonging the inevitable. I sent her a congratulations and let her know that we could not wait to meet the lucky guy.

About half an hour later, the doorbell rang and I got up from the couch, Mean Girls long forgotten. I opened the door. The first thing I noticed was a beaming beat friend surrounded by five VERY attractive men...and I mean….like model material. Nikki grinned as she hugged me and motioned the blonde one to come forward.

“Zoey! This is my fiancé Jonghyun….Jjong for short!” she said. Jonghyun smiled and nodded. “Hello,” I muttered, feeling slightly overwhelmed by the attractive guys (especially since I was in my I’m not going anywhere attire).

Oh! These are the guys! Say hello!” Nikki exclaimed. The four other guys and Jonghyun bowed 90 degrees and raised their heads at the same time. “Annyeong haseyo, bitnaneun shinee imnida!” They exclaimed as they made a fist with their hands and grinned at me. I exchanged glances with Dean, who had just joined me and was trying hard not to laugh or hit someone.

Nikki clapped her hands and whispered. “Isn’t it great?” she asked. I wasn’t as sarcastic as Nikki, but as I watched Dean smile at Nikki as though his heart wasn’t breaking into a million pieces, I couldn’t help the sarcastic ‘Nikki’ voice my mind replicated.

Oh yeah Nikki….real freaking great!
