A Normal Day

Undecided

“Mommy! Mommy,” you heard a small voice as you felt someone tugging on your fingers. You groaned,“Mm?” “Granma said you have school,” Jungsu said. “Why does she always look for me? What about daddy?” You rolled over hoping to be embraced, but it didn’t happen. You sighed and sat up in bed. “Where’s daddy?” You asked slowly opening your eyes. “He already left for school,” Jungsu said struggling to get on the bed. “Mwo? He didn’t even take you to daycare?” You quickly turned your head to finally see his struggle. You giggled at Jungsu and lifted him up onto your lap. “I guess since he at least dressed you,” you shrugged. “But… How did my Jungsu sleep last night?” “I had a dream! There was a spaceship and it took granma ‘cause she made me eat carrots,” he said throwing his arms around. You threw on a fascinated look as he continued, “Then they made the sky rain carrots! And one fell in my mouth and you made me eat it,” Jungsu shuddered in disgust. You couldn’t help but laugh. He was so cute and you knew he got it from his father. “Jungsu-ahh, what a shame that I made you do that,” you said shaking your head. “But, they’ll make you healthy and strong.” “I hate them. I will never eat them,” Jungsu whined. “Uh. Really?” You said. “Mm.” “Well, I guess….” You said while slowly moving your hands to Jungsu’s stomach.“You’ll just have to eat them!” You began tickling and attacking Jungsu with kisses. He giggled uncontrollably as he turned red. You made farting noises on his cheeks and he bursted in laughter. “Yah! You have school today! Get up and stop playing around!” Your mom burst into your room. “Ahaa, okay ma,” you said moving Jungsu off your lap. You went to your bathroom to get ready.

As you made your final steps down the stairs your were straightening your tie. “Come on Jungsu-ah,” you said walking into the kitchen. Your mom had a piece of toast waiting for you on a plate. You grabbed it and stuffed it in your mouth. Jungsu came out of the living room sipping on a chocolate milk cartoon. “Look at you. You are the most handsomest little man in the world,” you said as you put his backpack on him. He wasn’t even paying you any attention as Pororo was displaying on the tv. You sighed and strapped on your bookbag as well. You stood up and reached your hand out to Jungsu, “Let’s go.” Jungsu looked at you disappointed and grabbed your hand. “Don’t look at me like. You’ll make me feel bad,” you two began walking towards the door. “Ma! We’re leaving.” “Bye granma!”

The walk to Jungsu’s day care and to school used to be the most difficult things to do. All the deadly glares you used to receive while taking your son to daycare. They didn’t have a grudge against you, it was just the fact that you were a teen mom that urked everyone. But now you didn’t care and ignored every pair of judging eyes.

“Okay, Jungsu. Be a good boy and don’t get in trouble. Share and be nice. Okay?” You said kneeling in front of him. He only nodded. “Promise me,” you said holding out your pinky. Jungsu locked his small pinky with yours and you were on your way.

Walking into your highschool doors you checked your watch. “!” You whispered as you began to run to your class. When you got to the door you straightened your jacket and took a deep breath. As soon as you pushed the door opened and took your first step the bell rung for the beginning of first block. You sighed as you grinned to yourself. “KIM HANEUL!” You heard your named being called as a ruler smacked the teacher’s desk. You turned around startled. “Ahh ne~ Choi Seonsaengnim,” you said as you bowed. He cleared his throat then began, “It amazes me how you always get here exactly when the bell rings.” “Mother’s intuition,” you mumbled to yourself as you nodded and walked over to your seat.

As you took out your english notebook and placed it on your desk, you notice a blonde head in front of you. Your eye started to twitch as you tore out a piece of paper and balled it up. “Yah! Sehun-ah,” you whispered. “Mmm?” He said turning around. You immediately threw the paper ball in his face. “YAH!” He yelled quickly turning back around realizing how loud he had said that. “Mr. Oh, is there a problem?” “N-no sir,” Sehun said standing up and bowing. Mr. Choi began teaching again and Sehun turned around again. “What was that for?” he whined as he whispered. “For not taking Jungsu to school,” you whispered as you directed your focus on your notebook. “Oh, that?” Sehun said amused. “Yeah, that,” you rolled your eyes. “Yahhhh, I’m sorry,” he said extending his arm to pinch your cheek. You groaned and smacked his hand away. “Ahem! If you would like to pay attention to each other more, you can do it in DETENTION! Do you understand?!” Sehun quickly turned around in his seat and straightened up. You began to giggle when Choi Seonsaengnim added, “That goes for you too Ms. Kim.” You straightened up in your seat as well.

Your classes began to drag on throughout the day. Thank goodness it was a friday! That meant you could stay in bed as long as you wanted with Sehun and not be bothered. The final bell rung and you sat in your seat engrossed in your phone. You heard footsteps approach the classroom. You looked up to see your best friend Yoona walk in. “Ah! Haneul-ah~,” she said running towards you. “Yoona. You’re still here?” You asked her. “Same for you. Don’t you have to pick up Jungsu?” Yoona replied. “Yeah, but I’m waiting for Sehun,” you sighed. “Sehunnie? He just left,” she said turning her head confused. “He what?!” You said almost choking on your spit. “Yeah. He left like 5 minutes ago,” Yoona said pointing behind her. “That freaking bas--,” “Yah! Haneul-ah! Come on. I almost forgot about you,” Sehun yelled sticking his head through the doorway. Yoona laughed as you threw your pencil at him. Yoona grabbed your arm and pulled you out your seat, “Go home!” She pushed you towards Sehun. You glared at her as you regained your balance. Sehun laughed and entwined your fingers with his. On any other day you would’ve snatched your hand away, but today you just let it happen. “You look lovely today~,” Sehun sang trying to butter you up. You couldn’t help but let out a giggle and blush. “Shut up,” you nudged him, “You think I’ma let you off the hook for not taking Jungsu to daycare and almost forgetting about me? You got it twisted.” You began to speed up, fingers still locked with Sehun’s. Sehun dragged along behind you sulking. “Hurry up before we’re late to pick up Jungsu,” you said. Sehun groaned.

You let go of Sehun’s hand and nudged him forward. “Mwo?” he said turning around. “You sign your son out of daycare today,” you said sternly. He turned and sighed as he slumped his shoulders walking in to get Jungsu. You found it funny at how they both act like babies. Well, Jungsu had his excuse. “Mommy!!” Jungsu yelled running towards you. “My little Jungsu,” you said picking him up, “Did you keep my promise today?” “Yes,” he said with a cheeky smile. “Daddy, you know what time it is now?” You turned to ask Sehun. “Bubb--,” “No,” you quickly answered. “Icecream??” Sehun said excitedly. At that same moment Jungsu started clapping his hands chanting, “Ice Cream. Icecream. Icecream.” Sehun joined him as you rolled your eyes, “So noisey.” You put Jungsu down and held his hand. Sehun grabbed his other hand and you all began walking to the ice cream shop. Jungsu rambled on about what happened at daycare and Pororo.
