Break Ups Are So Like Me (last part)

A Life's Dream

Amy’s POV:

The eye-contact didn’t last for long, but I could see that his expression changed 100 degrees and he seemed a bit angry.

“I’m leaving.” His words pierced my heart knowing that I was probably the reason.

“Hyung!! What are you talking about?! Come here!” They both went to the kitchen to talk.

I haven’t moved an inch when Siwon came out.

“Uhmm…sorry to ask you this, but could you please wait in my room for the time being? I’ll bring your food over and you can sleep there afterwards.”

I tried to read his expression, but I couldn’t. However, his furrowed eyebrows were a pretty obvious sign of confusion mixed with something else. Anger, maybe?!

While passing by the kitchen I took a glance and saw Heechul knocking back a bottle of soju.

Have I upset him that hard?!

Siwon’s room was big and the blue painted walls made me able to relax a bit. Still, I couldn’t help but think of Heechul and his reaction from before. Not even the tasty pizza can take my mind off this matter, so I went to bed while thinking of how to clear out things later.

I suddenly woke up because of a loud noise coming from the other side of the apartment. The clock showed 3:00 am.

Who’s making so much noise at such a late hour?!

I went to check. There was a broken plate on the kitchen’s floor and a drunk Heechul was dancing around while singing, or more like screaming in English:

“Fly. Butterfly. Up in the skyy!!!” I wondered how Siwon could still sleep in all that noise.

The sight was quite amusing and I couldn’t help but chuckle a bit. He must have heard me, cause he turned in my direction very fast. It was a bit scary to see him like this, with long hair covering one side of his face and holding an empty bottle of alcohol in one hand.

“Oh, Amy-ah! How are you?” he asked while putting the empty bottle away. “I’m so happy!! Let’s sing and dance together!” he said very loudly whilst approaching me.

He took my hands and started spinning both of us around and started again in English this time too: “FLY! *hiccup* BUTTERFLYY! *hiccup* UP IN THE SKYYY!! *hiccup* I forgot the lyrics..”, he said letting go of my hands and stumbling a bit, but was quick to stand properly again.

In the end he decided to sit down, so he took place on one of the chairs and rested his head on the cold table. I also sat myself down on the opposite side of him, so I could take a better look at him. He suddenly looked at me and I got a shock. His eyes were watery and only sadness was behind them.

“Heechul-shi, why are you so harsh on yourself? Why are you drowning your sadness in alcohol? It’s not healthy, you know?” I realized my voice was showing a lot of concern, even if I tried to make it sound as calm as possible. I wanted to know, so I couldn’t avoid this topic: “I…got your letter.”

He let his head down in shame and said: “Sorry. I…I’m really sorry. I know that biding goodbye by sending a letter is a cowardly thing to do, but I couldn’t face you anymore after I saw you with your boyfriend. You two looked so happy together.”

I tried to say something, but he cut me off.

“Furthermore, I’ve betrayed a friend. I’m such a bad hyung, ain’t I?!” He was on the verge of crying, but he wouldn’t let any teardrop fall.

The talk was carried on more by him. I only explained that Daniel was my bestfriend and there was nothing going on between us (that would’ve been weird…). It was almost dawn when we said goodbye. He had sober up by then.

“Can you promise me something? Please don’t throw away what I gave you. Consider that as a gift and also my blessing for you and Hyukjae. Also, take good care of him for me, alright? *sigh* I might fly away tomorrow, but we’ll surely meet again in 2 years, if not sooner. I’ll check if you kept your promise then, so be careful”, he said in a serious, yet jokingly manner.

The ride home was quiet as Siwon left me with my thoughts. He was really perceptive and didn’t ask any questions about last night, thing I was very grateful for. In my own apartment’s silence I could think about the previous events. So much happened in such little time. I was relieved to know what Heechul’s thoughts were though and I was sure he’ll be fine wherever he’ll go.

I need to see about that promise now…
