Characters Part 2
Who You Are As A WriterHere are the requirements for Protagonists and Antagonists in fanfic writing.
Protagonists:
-Nerdy but beautiful.
-Smart
-Clumsy
-May or may not show it, but they're kind.
Antagonists:
-Beautiful but not as beautiful as the protagonist.
-Jealous of the protagonist because they got their guy.
-Evil, tries to harm the protagonist.
-Mean
There. If a fanfic has all the requirements then it's amazing! A+
(My sarcasm is dripping isn't it?)
All of those traits mentioned above are overused and are incorrect to describe a character. (Refer to Chapter 6.)
My Point of View:
It's overused and cliche that every protagonist is good. Recently, I've been reading a series where the main character isn't good but isn't bad either. It's like...he's in between. You can say that he's not a good guy, but he isn't a bad guy either.
If a character is "perfect" then so what? As a reader, I wouldn't be able to "connect" to the character. I wouldn't be connected to someone who does everything perfect and such. Because I'm not perfect. No one is. We're all humans.
At times in life, we, as humans make mistakes. It's what makes us human. If we don't then we're just robots. Period.
Just please, make your characters human and make sure that there's some unique trait or personality to your characer so that it doesn't become another Mary Sue or just the same as any other protagonists out there. It's your story. You wrote it.
So there should be a level of uniqueness to it.
