Quickly sliding along the corridor to Kai and D.O.’s room, they didn’t know how to react when they found him sitting on the edge of the bed with the tears streaming down his cheeks. Tiptoeing over to the younger, Suho crouched down beside him and placed his hand on D.O.’s knee reassuringly.

“D.O. is everything alright?”

“T-they took him, they took my baby!”

Taking the card that was now crumpled in D.O.’s hands, Suho almost joined him in tears as he sat next to him on the bed wrapping his arms tightly around his shoulders.

“He shouldn’t have kept getting in the way...

He will bend and break, but he’ll never get in the way again.”

“Don’t worry Kyungsoo we’ll find him.”

“...You used my real name.”

“Yeah, I know.”

“Thanks hyung... how can we find him though? It doesn’t tell us anything.”

“W-well, um... Chanyeol do you have a torch?”

“I think Baekhyun has one, why?”

“Can you get it?”

Watching Chanyeol leave with a rather confused look, D.O. looked up at Suho wearing virtually the same one.

“Why do you want a torch hyung?”

“Because we’re going to go look in the cinema car again and we’ll have a better chance of finding something if we can see.”

“Really... you’ll help?”

“Of course I will silly.”

“B-but what about Baekhyun, we still haven’t found him yet.”

“Really, that’s what you’re thinking about?”

“The first note said if we didn’t find any of the members before night’s end we’d lose them. I don’t want to see Chanyeol hurt like that.”

“You and Kai have found everyone else I think you’re entitled to worry about him and let someone else find Baekhyun.”

“...You’re right, I-I just...”

“It’s okay, I get it... wait you’re not going to try and get me back for the running thing are you?”

“I’d forgotten about that, and no, I’d have done the same.”

Gently resting his head on Suho’s shoulder, D.O. silently prayed Kai was okay as Chanyeol re-entered the room.

“Here’s the torch.”

“Thanks hyung.”

“Chanyeol, you’re in charge until we get back okay?”

“O-okay.”

Standing up and offering D.O. his hand, they squeezed past Chanyeol and made their way along in silence until they were halfway through the video game car when D.O. stopped abruptly.

“What’s wrong?”

“...Hyung can I ask you something?”

“Of course you can.”

“Earlier, when you wanted to talk to Kai... you asked him what was bothering him, didn’t you?”

“...I did... how did you know that?”

“Just a lucky guess. D-did he tell you?”

“D.O. I...”

“I’m not asking you to tell me what he said, I just want to know if he told you.”

“Sort of.”

“You hesitated.”

“I know, but it’s the truth.”

“Hyung he... he knows I love him doesn’t he?”

“...Of course he does, why would you ask that?”

“I’m scared I’m losing him. He’s acting really distant and I-I think he might break up with me.”

“I don’t think he will, but maybe we should find him and then you can hear it from him.”

Nodding causing a single tear to break free, D.O. followed Suho into the cinema that seemed even darker than the last time. Holding onto Suho’s hand arguably too tightly, they began looking around the car. After checking what must have been every other inch of the car Suho snatched his hand free and picked up a card with a tear running down the middle.

“Unlike Xiumin, Kai won’t be so lucky...”

Turning to ask D.O. what it meant, Suho found himself alone as the door to the dining car swung closed. Running forward through the train with fresh tears now cascading down his cheeks, D.O. tried his best not to fall as he made his way through the extremely messy dining car and dank kitchen. Finding the door they had used to re-enter the train firmly bolted closed, D.O. surprised himself as when he punched it in anger it bounced open almost warping the shape as it met the tender behind it. Sliding out of the kitchen before the door closed again, D.O. ran full pelt along the tracks and practically jumped into the cab but once inside couldn’t believe what he saw.

“You just couldn’t leave well enough alone, could you?”

“H-hyung, what are you doing?”

“I’m getting you out the way.”

“Out the way of what?”

“Of me and D.O. silly.”

“B-but you’re seeing Chanyeol, you can’t want to break up with him?”

“I never said I was breaking up with him, why would I do that?”

“I-I don’t understand.”

“It’s simple really, I want D.O. for myself.”

“Why?”

“I want someone to kiss and cuddle when Chanyeol won’t, and you know how much he likes me.”

“So you’d break up a happy couple just so you could do less work in yours?”

“Oh Kai, I’ve seen how you’ve been acting tonight. You’re not a ‘happy’ couple.”

“How could you... when did you become such a monster?”

“When you got between us...”

Watching in horror as he began creeping closer to Kai raising his fist, D.O. panicked and grabbing the nearest thing to hand swung at Baekhyun.

“YOU LEAVE MY BABY ALONE!”

Dropping what he guessed was the shaft of what used to be a shovel as Baekhyun fell to the floor, he stepped right over him and kneeling down beside Kai pulled him close into a kiss. Trying and failing to hide his surprise when Kai tried to pull him even closer, D.O. broke the kiss turning a deep fuchsia as he did so.

“You’re really cute when you blush.”

“R-really, you get taken away and the first thing you say is that?”

“Well it was that or can you please untie me?”

“That’s better but still not great.”

“I can’t exactly hug you with my hands and feet tied together now can I?”

Turning even deeper shade as he fumbled to untie the younger, he had barely undone the last knot when Kai wrapped his arms tightly around him.

“I thought I’d lost you.”

“Hyung I’m sorry, I tried to fight him off but it was too dark.”

“It’s not your fault.”

“Hyung... t-the reason I’ve been acting weird is because I heard you about Baekhyun in your sleep.”

“What?”

“I thought you were falling in love with Baekhyun...”

“That’s all it was? Kai I love you unconditionally, I’d never leave you for that idiot.”

“Then why did...”

“It was just a stupid dream and unfortunately for Chanyeol in my dream he was far more romantic, but I told him my heart will always belong to you.”

“I-I... I’m sorry I doubted you hyung.”

“Kai promise me next time something like this happens you’ll talk to me about it.”

“I promise.”

“...Wait, if you thought I loved him t-then why did you stay?”

“Because I love you.”

“...”

“Hyung what’s wrong?”

“Nothing... i-it’s just, that’s the first time you’ve said it.”

“The first of many.”

Interrupted by a low groan, D.O. glanced over his shoulder as he thought aloud.

“What should we do with him?”

“...I think we should take him back to Chanyeol, say we found him out cold in the fridge.”

“Why?”

“Because Chanyeol will be as worried as you were. Besides you hit him pretty hard, he’s either forgotten or got the message.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yeah, I’m sure.”

“...You’re too nice you know.”

“Well if he ever tries it again you can decide what we do with him.”

“That’s easy, tell Chanyeol what he did and tell Xiumin it was him who left him in the tender.”

“Speaking of Chanyeol, let’s get him back before he starts to worry.”

Helping to pick Baekhyun up, D.O. was slightly surprised when Kai decided to carry him by himself in a piggyback.

“Are you sure you don’t want help?”

“I’m sure.”

“Is it because he’s taller than me?”

“It’s because you’ve done more than enough tonight.”

Smiling happily as he pecked the younger’s cheek, D.O. hopped down out of the cab and after helping Kai down they made their way back along to the cars surrounded by a comfortable silence. Reaching the kitchen door, Kai stood stunned at the sight before him.

“What happened?”

“What do you mean?”

“There’s a huge dent in the door.”

“...No there isn’t.”

Glancing at the elder with curious if slightly confused look, Kai did his best to squeeze through the door without hurting the still unconscious Baekhyun on his back. Just managing to get through without hurting anyone, Kai breathed a sigh of relief as D.O. slipped in and closed the door behind him. Sensing that Kai was starting to struggle holding Baekhyun’s weight, D.O. decided to pick up the pace as the headed through the dining car. Reaching the rooms, they were caught off guard when they discovered everyone in the hallspace chatting.

“There you are, why did you r... Kai you’re alright! W-what happened to Baekhyun?”

“We found him in the fridge, he must’ve been getting a snack when the train jolted.”

“Ugh... where am I.”

“On the train hyung, just outside your room.”

“Room? What room? When did we get on a train?”

“H-hyung what’s the last thing you remember?”

“We... we were on a bus... manager hyung had blindfolds in his hand.”

“Well, at least he hasn’t forgotten much.”

“Can someone please explain what’s going on?”

“Maybe you should lie down, it sounds like you’ve hit your head.”

“But...”

“Chanyeol, can you make sure he gets some rest.”

“Sure.”

Taking Baekhyun’s arm and placing it round his shoulder to support him, Chanyeol headed towards their room while the others gathered around D.O. and Kai.

“U-um...”

“Okay guys, there’s too many people here.”

“Aw but we want to know what happened!”

“If you go back to your rooms we’ll pass on the important information, right Kris?”

“Right.”

“But...”

“Come on guys, let’s give them some privacy.”

“Thanks hyung.”

Watching everyone file into their own rooms, Suho was about to start asking questions when Kris placed his hand on the younger’s shoulder stopping him.

“What’s wrong?”

“They’ll be standing ears pressed against the doors, maybe we should head somewhere a little more private?”

“Next car?”

“The sofa’s in pieces.”

“What about the one with video games?”

“...That works, there are a dozen bean bags in there.”

Following Kris away from the understandably curious members, Suho couldn’t help smiling as he saw D.O. playfully pull Kai to share his beanbag earning a shy but happy chuckle from the younger.

“So... you two are okay now?”

“Yeah.”

“No break-ups?”

“Nope.”

“...Wait, have I missed something?”

“It’s nothing.”

“Okay... uh, Suho do you want to start?”

“Yeah, if you don’t mind. Since you were taken away while you were awake, did you see who it was?”

“No... I-I don’t remember anything between finding Chanyeol and D.O. finding me.”

“How did he find you? That was the least helpful clue ever.”

“What was the clue?”

“Unlike Xiumin, Kai won’t be so lucky.”

“Hyung, my ribs... loosen.”

“Sorry.”

“Do you think they’ll try and take anyone else again?”

“I doubt it, they wouldn’t be that stupid.”

“Well they might be, but if they are they’ll try and grab Xiumin and he’ll kick their .”

“And we wouldn’t blame him.”

“Hmm.”

“Kai, your hand...”

“Oh, yeah I forgot about that.”

“Come on, we should get that cleaned up before it gets infected.”

“Okay...”

“Kris, you coming?”

“I-in a minute, I have one or two more questions, if you don’t mind D.O.?”

“But...”

“You go get that seen too, I don’t mind answering his questions.”

Leaving rather reluctantly with Suho, he couldn’t help becoming increasingly worried as the elder began chuckling with an evil undertone.

“Now, you are going to let me use the ‘evil’ antiseptic aren’t you?”

“...I suppose, since Sehun let you.”

“I don’t know if let is the word.”

“Hyung?”

“Lay sat on him.”

“Oh... sorry, I didn’t think we’d scared him that much.”

“Well we’ll forgive you if you just let me clean it and don’t make us resort to sitting on you.”

Deciding not to answer as he wasn’t sure how useful it was going to be since the cut was at least an hour old now and probably healed over, Kai contemplated telling Suho this but completely forgot about it as when he opened the door they were met by Lay pulling his top off.

“See something you like Kai?”

“Leave him alone, he’s injured.”

“Are you okay?”

“I’m fine, but since the lecture I gave Sehun it’s only fair I let Suho do more damage than the clue cards.”

“Could you say that again not staring at my stomach?”

“Sorry hyung, I didn’t mean to.”

“Told you those abs were dangerous.”

“...Hey Kai, what happened to your clothes? You look like you’ve been rolling around in a flowerbed or something.”

“Oh no its coal, from when we found Xiumin.”

“What?”

“We found him in the tender.”

“Wait that’s why you said you wouldn’t blame him for kicking the of the person that put him there? Because he was left out in the cold all night?”

“Yeah.”

“And that’s how D.O. knew where you were... and why he ran to get you.”

“He ran?”

“Mhmm... okay this may sting a little.”

“Aaahahaha, a little?!”

“Okay I lied, but it’s over now.”

“Thanks hyung.”

“Now you’re sure you’re okay, they didn’t hurt you?”

“I’m fine, honestly I am... and no Lay it has nothing to do with your abs, please stop pointing at them.”

“Aha, but I was trying to make you smile and you are~”

“...I’m gonna go now, thanks again for dressing my hand hyung.”

“Anytime Kai.”

Quickly leaving before things got weird, Kai headed back towards his own room where he found D.O. waiting inside.

“You okay?”

“Mhmm.”

“It’s so nice to see you smiling again, what’s got you in such a good mood.”

“You have.”

“What are you on about?”

“Suho told me what you did, I thought it was sweet... made me feel stupid for thinking you’d break up with me.”

“You thought... oh you gorgeous idiot!”

“Hyung?”

“I thought you were going to break up with me!”

“...I’m sensing communication is something we need to work on.”

“As long as you’re staying with me I’m happy to work on anything.”

“I love you Kyungsoo.”

“I love you too Jongin...  Hey I know there’s not much point now but do you wanna go back to bed?”

Curling up in bed as sunrise began painting the sky, they watched the colours dance as D.O. whispered.

“So this has been a pretty eventful vacation, how do you want to spend the rest of it?”

“As long as I spend it with you, I don’t care if it’s spent doing nothing.”

“Nothing sounds good, means you’re safe.”

“I’m always safe with you around hyung... though I don’t particularly like the dark anymore.”

“Well I’ll be right here every night holding you close, do you think that will help?”

“I think it might...”

“Good, because I’ll never let anything hurt you.”
