Journalist Kim Hyemin, interviewing Lee Donghwa, chief of the Mating Program department in MISC. She asks, 'What is behind the search of our perfect partner? The public is hungry for answers.' Kim Hyemin is here to get you readers some answers.

K.H. : Hello Mr. Lee.

L.D. : Good morning.

K.H. : First of all, thank you for accepting this interview to lighten us up about the mysterious Mating Program that was invented 95 years ago to improve our lives. Whose wonderful idea was it to create this?

L.D. : It was Kang Myungjin, the former founder of one of the most popular dating websites before  MISC. You know, those things that brought people together by complying and comparing their personality traits. However, he realized that it didn’t really work out in some cases. So to have more perfect couples, he did some scientific research. He studied the human DNA structure and he found the ultimate compatibility of human characteristics.

K.H. : The DNA? Why the DNA?

L.D. : The DNA contains all the information of a human being. All the “codes” that makes that person what they are today is all stored in there. The colour of his eyes, the shape of his nose, all those characteristics of the person is encoded with the primary nucleobases: amine, cytosine, guanine and thymine. They are like codes for genes.

K.H. : If I understood, the DNA is like our profile, our identity…

L.D. : In fact, it is. That is why Kang Myungjin asked a professional computer programmer and a DNA specialist, to create a program that calculates the compatibility of two people considering different factors.

K.H. : The amazing thing is that it works! Could you tell us which factors influence the compatibility percentage?

L.D. : Unfortunately, the algorithm must remain secret in case of a fraud. Even I am not allowed to look it through. Only a few of our programmers have access to it.

K.H. : Oh, I see. It’s for security reason.

L.D. : Yes.

K.H. : But since it’s working so well, even making through as an official governmental industry, we have all the reasons to trust MISC. Thank you for your time.

L.D. : Thank you. Maybe we could go to a compatibility test together?

First of all, keep your Student IDs wherever you go as you can only access to the classes, your pad, the library and the cafeteria with your Student ID as you are registered in our database. Secondly, all your classes are on your IDs so do check it up with the pads that have been provided to you. If your pad seems to not function properly, please direct yourself to the school’s Technology maintenance. Pads are a must to all classes as they contain all your virtual books. You may not be accepted to class if you forget your pad. It is forbidden to use another person’s pad or Student ID to go to class. A warning will be given. It is not allowed to hack the system to feign to attend classes. Security will detect you easily and all students who do not obey this rule will see his course fail. We hope that you will spend an enjoyable time in EXO University and will graduate at the end of your course. Remember that classes start tomorrow at 8 o’clock sharp with an assembly then at 9 o’clock the first classes. To all the students living on campus, the girls’ dormitory and boys’ dormitory will welcome you and will indicate your rooms where you will be living. Have a good day.” The loudspeakers stopped resonating outside the school although it would start with the message again ten minutes after.

EXO University. Most prestigious college of Technology. Robotics, programming, video game designing, everything that was related to the newest high tech. The world of tomorrow they said. A fascinating world for many people. But mostly for Park Chanyeol, the tall male with jet black hair staring giddily at the EXO sign on the school’s main door.

Park Chanyeol’s dream was video games. Ever since he was small, he would play all the consoles and even meddle with the computer games programs to cheat or even make the game better to his taste. His parents wanted him to choose something more in their ethics such as a doctor or a lawyer. However, Chanyeol’s resolve got the best of them and he could go to the University of his dreams. Bliss. He found himself grinning to himself from ear to ear as he finally came to the conclusion that he wasn’t dreaming and that the huge building in front of him was his school. He walked towards the boys’ dorm dragging his gigantic suitcase and carrying his backpack on his shoulders while one of his hands was holding the pad that was sent him. The pad looked like a rectangular piece of glass but it was indeed the EXO University newest tool. The students themselves created this masterpiece of technology. The map was showing up as a hologram with the different buildings in the campus. It made Chanyeol grin even more. He followed the red path showing on the map and saw people going in and coming out of the dorm, getting themselves accommodated.

“Chanyeol-ah!”

Chanyeol turned his head to the familiar voice of his best friend, Oh Sehun. The blonde boy had his own suitcase at his feet which looked like it was about to burst. The redness of his face showed the effort he had put to drag it across the whole campus.

“Sehun, did you bring your entire closet in here?” Chanyeol stared with wide-eyes the luggage wondering if like a bomb, it might explode any minute making it rain clothes.

“Don’t exaggerate Yeol, my closet can’t even fit in there. Only half of my clothes are in there.” Sehun brushed his hair on his forehead nonchalantly although traces of sweat made it shine. “I am glad I chose the same college as you. You don’t have such a bad taste.”

Sehun programmed since forever. He could be considered as a genius but he didn’t like the title. He could admit that he was very good at it. He had a passion as strong as Chanyeol’s. He had wanted to go to BAP University and had argued with Chanyeol a lot since they both wished to go to the same college. But Chanyeol won with the best argument ever. There was a bubble tea shop next to EXO University. Sehun could only say yes and apply.

“I hope I get a nice roommate.” Sehun said as he detailed the modern building in front of him. The light blue bricks made it feel quite homey.

“Maybe he’ll be able to cope with your nasty character.” Chanyeol teased with a grin.

Sehun gasped in shock. “Excuse you! He shall be honoured to be in the presence of Oh Sehun!”

They finally stepped in the dorm and were suddenly welcomed with a confetti shower.

“HELLO NEWBIES!” A boy cheered loudly with a party hat on his head.

“Jongdae! You better clean up afterwards or Junmyeon might have a heart attack.” A cat eyed boy slapped the party boy’s arm.

Sehun brushed off the confetti off his perfect hair and his perfect clothes. How could they do this to Oh Sehun?! Chanyeol pointed out mockingly some invisible confetti on his head.

“But Minnie…” Jongdae pouted at his friend then waved at the two new guys. “Hey, I am Kim Jongdae, Second year in Robotics. You can call me master.”

Sehun almost retorted something but Chanyeol elbowed him to shut his mouth. The cat eyed boy smiled and greeted them too. “I am Minseok, also a Second year but in Programming. Nice to meet you. May I see your Student IDs please?”

Both boys took out their IDs from their pads where the screen turned off completely. The green IDs where was a picture of them and their details. Minseok grabbed the IDs and they suddenly turned red since it wasn’t his property. The Student IDs had small detectors that analysed the finger prints of the person who holds it. All the students’ information was inside this card, even the student’s DNA. Minseok read them out loud, “Oh Sehun, first year in Programming and Park Chanyeol, first year in Video Games Design.”

Jongdae grabbed his pad on the desk and swiped through folders on his screen to get a list. “Oh Sehun, first floor room 106 and Park Chanyeol, second floor room 208.” The boys nodded and got their IDs back. Minseok smiled and showed them the stairs. “The rules and facilities details are stored in your pads when you tap on the campus building on your map.”

The two youngest lifted their suitcases and walked up the stairs. Chanyeol left Sehun at his floor and he climbed up with anticipation. He hoped his roommate would be cool and nice to get along.

He looked at the door numbers as he paced forward in the corridor. When he saw his room door, he entered his Student ID card in the slot. A green light flashed for a few seconds.

“Park Chanyeol, welcome to room 208.” A prerecord message said as the door slightly open with a click.

The tall boy pushed the door open and whistled at the cleanliness. His roommate seemed to have already made one of the spaces his. Everything was arranged properly. A few paper books on the shelf (Chanyeol looked at the titles and admired the books as books were really rare now), the bed neatly made with dark covers. Chanyeol started unpacking and wondered who would be his roommate. For sure they would get along. The video games on one of the lowest shelves were some of his favourites.

Best. Roommate. Ever.

Hello people~
You must be a bit confused but must be understanding that this is a renewal of this fanfic.
Why? Well, I wanted to be more in this science-fiction universe and get immersed into it. Also, I want to developpe the characters. And most importantly, provide a better writing quality~ :)
This chapter will replace everything and I will delete the other chapters in a few days. I will follow the same ideas I had in the first place but change how they happen~ I hope you will like this better version and I am sorry if you waited for the next chapter to go back to zero T^T *bows*
