Introduction

In life, we don’t have the privilege to get what we wanted, this I learned from my grandma. She always said that if she could have a second chance in life, she wouldn’t change hers at all, even the mistakes she made. One time, I asked her why, so she smiled, closed her eyes and said; because life is not a rebound; we don’t always get what we wanted, we get what we deserve.

Well, I was six back then and hearing that would just make me laugh. But now that I grew up, I came to understand just what she meant but couldn’t get a single clue as to why.

She said that grandpa wasn’t the one she wanted to have, for she had already fallen in love before she met him. But life always did the unexpected, and things turned out to be better. At the end of the road, it was grandpa that awaited for her there. She loves him, and he loves her too. She said that her love for him was perfect because it was something mutual, something they both got in return. Sadly, the love story had to come to an end. She died when I turned eleven, leaving everyone who loves her alone even grandpa.

I never actually knew the entire story of her life, what did life actually gave to her back then? But, one thing I do know that she was right, we don’t always get what we wanted, sometimes we’re gonna have to search for it ourselves. and so here's how my story started... an encounter with a boy in the library. A boy who will be the answer to my own question, my unexpected.
