First Day

Cover Up With Make Up

It was already noon when I stepped into the building. I brought my make-up equipment already, since this is technically my first day of work. The receptionist greeted me with a warm smile, and she quickly gave me a time table.

"You can check your time table for your schedules and your clients." she added. I nodded silently, but flashed a smile nonetheless. "You are Han Minhee, right?"

"Yes, I am."

"I'm Park Yoonhee by the way," she reached me her hand, and I couldn't help but smile awkwardly. "I hope we can be friends!"

I shook her hand, her hand which is delicate and soft. Her brown eyes looked at me with a glimmer, showing an image of me in her lenses. I can smell her scent, which is a perfume made from a popular brand. I am actually nervous when stepping here, for almost everyone, including her, wears the company's uniform. They are properly organized, and my impression in this conglomerate gradually deepens into high respect.

"Wow, you look really beautiful." Yoon Hee commented in awe. "Minhee-yah, how did you get your skin in that color? I rarely see people with really pale skin. White skin in common in South Korea, but yours is much more whiter, and so pale."

"I don't know." I replied quickly. "It's actually natural for me."

Yoonhee pouted, and I couldn't help but chuckle. "Natural? Seriously?"

"De."

She uttered a very loud chuckle, a bit loud to turn other people's heads to turn in our direction. I don't feel embarrassed though, for it is quite a rare moment for me to be commented about my skin color. "I envy you Minhee-yah."

"Well, your skin is delicate and soft, while mine's a bit rough."

"That is true," Yoon Hee checked her watch, making her eyes widened. "Minhee-yah, you should go to your location immediately! Or else you're going to be late."

My eyes became big as saucers, so I quickly prepared my things. I bid farewell to Yoonhee, and with a smile I left the building.

My first stop is a building, SM Building to be exact. There is going to be an interview, and I know people would really want to watch it as soon as it is released. Riding the familiar elevator, I was greeted by a familiar person.

"You're the designated make-up artist?" the familiar man said with a calculating yet rude tone. He dyed his hair red, and he is currently wearing a white shirt that is covered by a grey coat, and orange pants. I nodded to his question silently, not sure how to respond.

"Hmm, you're new here." He held his chin, and though we have almost the same height, I must looked scared. "What's your name?"

"Minhee. Han Minhee sunbaenim." I responded with a bow of respect. The elevator stopped, and we went out to our designated floor. I made my hands shake, giving a sign of me being new in this business. Technically, I am new to this business, since i was never interested in the world of make up. Make up, is a work of art, and I eventually became interested in this job. I have a very tight schedule, and if not for my boss who understands my plan, I wouldn't be here.

"Ah, Minhee is your name." he said plainly. "I'm sure you know me, right?"

"Yes, sunbaenim." I know him really well, but he doesn't know that. This person can come as harsh, but he has a heart of gold, though he rarely use it.

"Well, hope you can bring out the beauty in us." I tried holding back the chuckle that I want to release, since he also winked at me playfully. He is still the same old sunbae I know.

The room that I brought into was small, but there are already cameras inside. Preparation for filming is drastic, and you must set up the equipment immediately. He sat right down in a blink of an eye, and fortunately I readied my equipment and began doing my work.

I put on a layer of concealer, and also put a thin layer of eyeliner. It was just a simple retouch, and honestly, he was already presentable enough. He looked in front of the mirror, and he smiled mischievously.

"You sure know what kind of event I'm attending to," he commented with a wicked smirk. "Anytime now, they're coming."

"They must be tired from the promotions they're doing." I added with a worried smile.

"But they are hardworking despite being worn out." he said seriously. "You know them. They are famous, and they must keep the work up, or else they would be wash out in time."

It left me with a bitter thought when he finished his sentence. It was a harsh truth, and I couldn't help but fidget in irritation.

The door opened, and I almost let out a scream when I saw their faces.

"Wow, you're early Heechul-hyung." the man with strawberry pink hair said in amazement. the other person who came just smiled before sitting. I immediately resume my work.

"You two are on time as well." Heechul said with a grin. This time, my hands kept on shaking, and I took a deep breath before applying a mask of concealer on the other man. "Yunho-yah, you look good, as usual."

"Same to you, hyung." Yunho answered with his natural smile.

"Changmin-ah, aren't you a bit silent today." I uttered a silent gasp, and it's a good thing that Changmin doesn't need much make up as well. Just a dash of pink lipstick and I'm done.

"You are still nosy, Heechul-hyung." Changmin answered with a snarky smirk. Yunho sat beside Changmin, and I resume my work.

"You're the new make-up artitst, am I right?" Yunho asked. I nodded without uttering a word. "People said that you're Han Minhee, is that correct?"

"Yes, sunbaenim." I'm not exactly comfortable calling him sunbaenim, but I must. In my resume, my age is younger compared to them, but I'm actually older than Yunho and Changmin. Well, a plan needs to have a very devised strategy, and I really need to cover the details of my real information.

"Yunho-hyung, she can't continue if you keep on talking." Changmin said with a serious tone. Yunho shrugged, and I finished my job without utter fail, fortunately.

While doing my work though, I saw Changmin looking at me intently, and I kept on averting my gaze to avoid messing up. He never left his eyes on me, and I sighed in relief when Heechul-nim made a conversation with Changmin, probably about the interview they're doing.

"Changmin looks cold, but he's warm inside." Yunho assured me with one of those smiles I came to admire. "He's just tired, and we still have this interview."

"You can wrap this up sunbaenim." I encouraged with my fist up in the air. "Dong Bang Shin Ki, hwaiting! Kim Heechul, hwaiting!"

"Wow, a very supportive hoobae! Never met this kind of person in a long time." Changmin laughed at Heechul's comment, and I also laughed on what I just did as well.

"Thank you so much for the support, Minhee-sshi." Yunho responded with a soothing voice, a voice I didn't hear for a long time.

The cameramen are calling them, and I readied my gear towards my next destination. Heechul-nim offered me to watch the interview, and I complied.

I just hope I can continue doing this without being busted.
