Unexpected Tutor

When Opposites Attract

Ari watched as the group of boys sat down on the floor half of them looked dead while the other looked like they could still take some more dancing. She chuckled to herself as she tied her hair up in a ponytail and shut the music off. She stood in front of the mirrors her hands resting gently on her hips.

"Well I guess that's it for today. You guys did really well." Ari said smiling brightly and saw many blank stares looking up at her. "Uhm, Rap Monster, Can you translate?" Ari asked shyly as she looked at the guy who had taken his shades off and nodded translating for his band mates.

"Thank you!" One of the boys who had said his name was Suga spoke up in English that had a slight Korean accent.

"Bye!" Hollered several of the guys as they headed out of the practice room.

"Hey, RapMon. I wanted to say thank you for earlier. If it wasn't for you I would probably still be struggling with the woman at the front desk." Ari said shyly as she looked at the still lingering boy who was talking with Suga and J-Hope.

"It's no problem, I recognized you but I don't think we were ever told your name." Rap Monster said with a smile as he waved to his band mates who left.

"Really? How did you recognize me?" Ari asked as she cleaned her things up and sat them on the stereo.

"Our manager showed us some of your videos when they let us know we were getting a choreographer. It was easy to tell from the videos who you were, besides that we also knew you were from the states so it was pretty easy to guess who the foreigner was in the building." He said chuckling slightly.

"I guess I do kind of stand out since I am the only white girl in this entire building." Ari said laughing as well with him.

"You do need to work on learning some Korean though, someone won't always be there to translate." He said smiling as he picked up his bag and shouldered it.

"I'm going to try the best I can. Thanks Rap Monster." Ari said smiling as she too grabbed her bag and headed towards the door.

"Please call me Namjoon. Do you want to grab a bite to eat? I can help you learn some Korean phrases that could help you out." Namjoon said as he pushed the door open for Ari.

"Thanks that would be nice!" Ari said happily as she turned the lights off and headed out of the practice room.

Namjoon and Ari chatted as they walked down the hall and to the elevators trying to find out more about one another and talking about music as well as how they got started in the performing industry. Their personalities clicked instantly and soon Ari had found her first friend in Korea. As they sat down at one of the tables in the cafeteria at Big Hit they chatted about how Namjoon's English became so fluently and Ari was incredibly stunned to find out that he learnt most of it through American rap music which explained his slight ghetto accent to his English. After a very brief lunch Namjoon pulled out a napkin from the dispenser on the table and began writing some phrases on it. Ari looked down at the napkin and stared at the Korean writing and the English translation underneath it.

"Uh Namjoon, I can't read Korean very well." She said blankly as she looked from the napkin to his face.

"That is a problem then. Hold on, what's your cell number?" Namjoon asked as he pulled out his phone and looked at Ari expectantly.

"Why?" Ari questioned as took his phone and typed her name and number into it before handing it back.

After a couple moments of Namjoon fiddling on his phone Ari heard the small ting of her phone signaling a new message. She pulled out her phone and opened a message from an unknown number which she assumed to be Namjoon. She opened the message and saw a picture of the Korean alphabet. She looked up at Namjoon and saw him looking at her with a grin.

"This should help you on learning how to read our alphabet better and at a basic level. I think it will help you out fairly well." He said smiling at Ari before he began walking her through pronunciation and how to put together simple words.

"You are a really good teacher." Ari said as their lunch time was coming to a close and she had to go back to her studio and work with some trainees.

"Thanks, I can help you with your Korean if you want. That way you can get around by yourself." Namjoon suggested as he too stood up and cleaned up his lunch stuff.

"I would really appreciate that." Ari said smiling brightly at him.

"Great! I'll text you when I'm free and we can get together and study. Maybe go to a cafe or something." Namjoon suggested as they got in an elevator and pressed separate buttons.

"That sounds good to me!" Ari said as the doors opened to her floor "Bye Namjoon." Ari said waving slightly as she got off the elevator and headed into her studio room that was filled with many trainees.
