“Yuri~” I turned around and saw a blonde girl running towards me smiling

 

“What’s up, Sica.” I asked smiling at her. Jessica Sooyeon Jung. My childhood friend since elementary school and my first love which I never confess because she might not be my friend anymore

“Nothing.” She said still smiling

 

“You seem very happy today. Seriously... what’s up?” I asked again

 

“Taecyeon asked me out today!” She said smiling as I was hurt inside. Taecyeon who is a popular guy in the school.

 

“T-t-t-that’s great. Congrats.” I said holding my tears.

“Thanks. I’m happy that my best friend is supporting my relationship.” She said smiling as I nodded weakly.

 

After school ended, I went meet up with Tae, Yoong, Soo and Hyo at the dance studio.

 

“Hey Yul. How’s Sica?” Soo asked.

 

“Happy.” I said in a hurt voice.

 

“Ok. That voice does not sound good... What happened?” Tae asked

 

“Taecyeon asked Sica out.” I said as tears form and rolled on my cheeks

 

“Ouch. That might have hurt.” Hyo said

 

“I’m sorry unnie.” Yoong said rubbing my back as I was crying in Soo’s arms.

 

“Maybe I should stay away from her.” I said still crying in Soo’s arms

 

“Are you sure?” Yoong asked

 

“Yea... Maybe these feelings will go away.”

 

“But you’re going to suffer, Yul.” Hyo said

 

“Yea. Hyo’s right. We’re a family and family should help each other’s problems.” Tae said

 

“I’m fine guys, but thanks for helping.” I said

 

Then we all went home and sleep.

 

 

 

~~After a month past (January right now) ~~

 

I was sitting by Tae, Fany, Yoong, Seobaby, Yoong, Soo, Sunny, Hyo, and Nic. I was watching Sica and Taecyeon eating lunch together. I’m hurt even more.

 

“Hey Yuri, What’s wrong?” Fany asked as she saw me in a hurt expression

 

“Yuri is hurt.” Tae said

 

“Why?” Sunny asked

 

“Because someone special to her is taken.” Soo said as everyone notice Sica on the other side of the cafeteria

 

“Oh... Poor unnie.” Seobaby said

 

I got up and walked away from my friends and the love scene over on the other side of the cafeteria and walked at the rooftop. I stayed up there, hugging my knees and cried, even though it’s cold out. After school ended, I walked out of school with my hoodie on my head and avoid Sica. I could feel Sica looking at me but I ignored it and walked home.

 

It’s been a month and 2 weeks that I’ve been avoiding Sica. When school was done, I was by the school’s entrance with Tae, Fany, Yoong, Seobaby, Hyo and Nic until I heard a familiar voice from behind.

 

“It’s her.” Tae whispered as I nodded

 

“You can’t run away now.” Soo said

 

“It’s too late for her to run, stupid.” Hyo said

 

Then Sunny and Nic punched Soo’s and Hyo’s arms

 

“Good luck unnie.” Yoong whisper and Seobaby nodded

 

“Yes, Sica.” I asked as I turned around

 

“Can we talk? … Alone...” She asked as I nodded.

 

“Yea. Guys, I’ll hang out with you later.”

 

“Ok. Meet us at the same place ok?”

 

“Yea.” I said as they all left.

 

Me and Sica walked to the park, sitting on a swing. It was silent until Sica broke it

 

“Why haven’t you talked to me?” She asked

 

“Eh?”

 

“Stop acting stupid, Yuri... Tell me what I did wrong.”

 

“You didn’t do anything wrong.” I said

 

“Then why have you been avoiding me and ignoring me then?” Sica said

 

“’I’m not avoiding you or ignoring you, Jessica.” I said

 

“You’re even calling me by my full name. Seriously... what’s wrong?” She asked as I shook my head

 

“Nothing’s wrong.” I said in a cold tone

 

“Stop lying Yuri. Tell me. Tell me the truth.”

 

“I just want to give you some time with Taecyeon. Since you guys are a new couple in school and new couples should spend more time together.” I said not trying to sound hurt.

 

“Me and Taecyeon spend our time together in school all the time.”

 

“Not that kind of spending time... Like a date or something.” I said

 

“He did ask me on a date but I want us to hang out again, like old times.” She said as I shook my head

 

“Why Yuri? Why do you not want to hang out with me anymore? Why did we become distant after I accept Taecyeon to be my boyfriend? I

 

“I thought we were childhood friends and best friends forever.” She asked

 

“Nothing’s wrong, Jessica! J-J-Just give me some time to think.” I said as I walked away from her.

 

Every step I take, hurts me very much. Every day I see my best friend being all lovey-dovey with that guy every day at school. I would walk away from it when I knew Sica’s eyes were watching me. As I got to the dance studio, they all came up to me.

 

“So... What happened?” Soo asked as I lowered my head and walked pass them, to go to a corner.

 

“Not good.” Tae said

 

As I got to a corner, I sat there, hugging my knees and cry. Footsteps coming towards me and sat right next to and hugged me. I knew this friendly hug was from Fany. I hugged back and started to cry on her arms while she patted my back with the comfort words, I like to hear.

 

 

 

Now it’s been 2 months (February now) and yea, I’m still avoiding her. Them, showing me their lovey-dovey scene. It hurts every time I look at them. Aishh. Kwon Yuri. Just move on. Forget the feelings for her. Forget about Jessica Sooyeon Jung already. I went to the mall with Soo because she wanted a present for her girlfriend, Sunny, since it’s almost Valentine’s Day.

 

“Aishh. Can’t I take a break? Why did I have to come? Why can’t Hyo come with you to the mall?” I asked as Soo ignored me and kept dragging me around in the mall but suddenly stop which made me bump into her

 

“YAH! What the you are doing? Why’d you stop for?” I asked

 

“Isn’t that Taecyeon, Yuri?” Soo asked

 

“Yea. It is.” I said

 

“Then who’s that girl that Taecyeon hugging?” Soo asked

 

“That’s not Sica... That’s Victoria.” I said as I was about to walk over there to punch him but Soo hold on to my tight. I freed myself and ran towards him and punch his ‘perfect face’

 

“THAT’S WHAT YOU GET FOR -“then I felt Soo pulling me away as heard Sica calling me

 

“KWON YURI!” Sica shouted and walked towards us while I saw Taecyeon smirking at me.  ‘ing .’ I said in my mind

 

“S-S-Si” I said as she’s giving me her cold glare

WHY DID YOU HIT HIM?!” She shouted at me as I held my right cheek which was in pain

 

“Sica, he-“

 

“SHUT UP!! I DON’T WANT TO HEAR IT!!”

 

“But Sica, I’m tell you the truth, he is ch-“

My right cheek stings as she hit me there two times.

 

“Choose...” I muttered

 

“What?”

 

“Make a choice, Jessica Sooyeon Jung.” I said in my coldest tone to her as she flinched and saw my tears rolling on my cheek

 

“Yu-“

 

“STOP!” I said as I looked away

 

“Yuri…”

 

“Jessica Sooyeon Jung. Pick him or me?” I said as I looked down on the floor with my heart clenched and heard footsteps coming towards me

 

“Don’t come closer to me…. Let’s end our friendship and our childhood here, Jessica Sooyeon Jung.”

 

“Yuri, I’m -“

 

“Let’s go Soo.” I said grabbing her hand and walked away from Sica. I shouldn’t have said those words to her. After we left the mall, we went to the dance studio and stayed there. (That’s Yul’s, Tae’s, Soo’s, Yoong’s and Hyo’s favorite meeting place)

 

“You can cry now, if you want.” Soo said

 

“What are you talking about, Soo.” I said biting my bottom lip

 

“I won’t tell anyone.” Soo said as I walked towards her and burst into tears.

 

“Shhh. Everything will be okay.” She said

 

“It… hurts… Soo… I… shouldn’t… say… those… stupid… words… to… her…” I said between my cries.

 

 

 

After a great 2 months of crying, it’s almost Valentine’s Day. It was raining when I looked at my window with a hurtful face “What’s wrong with me” I muttered. Then my phone ring with a familiar ringtone. I picked it up and heard her crying.

 

“What’s wrong?” I asked

 

“Taecyeon…. He… He cheated on me.” She said crying as I looked across from my window and saw her crying on her bed. I putted my phone on my bed and climb on the tree that was between our houses and knock on her window. She opened her window and I went in and hugged her.

 

“Are you ok?” I asked

 

“Not really. I should have listened to you. I’m sorry” She said

 

“It’s ok. I shouldn’t have shouted at you that day.” I said hugging her tight.

 

“It’s fine. I feel better in your arms now.”

 

We lied on her bed and cuddled up.

 

The next day, Donghae asked Sica out and she was gladly to accept it. I can’t believe her. She even hurts me more than last time. I was meeting the others at the school’s entrance.

 

“Hey guys.” I said

 

“Hey Yuri.”

 

“So... did you confess yet to her?” Soo asked

 

“No. She might see me as a friend and plus she’s with Donghae.” I said

 

“Dude, you need to confess to her soon, seriously. We don’t want to see you hurt all the time.” Yoong said

 

“Yea, Yuri, you really NEED to confess to Sica.” Fany said

 

“Stop sitting like an idiot and man up. You need to go up to her and tell her how much you love her, not just as a friend but a lover.” Sunny said

 

“We know you can do it, Yul. We’re here to support you and your confession. So just like Sunny said, man up. Go in front of her and tell her how you feel.” Tae said as everyone nodded.

 

“Thanks you guys.” I said giving them a hug.

 

(Author-ssi Pov) They all walked home together while they all didn’t notice that Sica was inside of the school’s entrance listening to their conversation outside the school’s entrance. She covers since she was crying, but she was trying not to make a sound. A week later, Donghae dumped her and went to another girl. Sica went by her window, hugging her knees and burst into tears. She didn’t know her best friend; Kwon Yuri had feelings for her.

~~ Flashback ~~

I was 10 years old. I had no friends from pre k to 4th grade until a new girl transfer came to my school. She made friends easily while I was in a side of the classroom without any friends. Sometimes the other kids were scared of me or else some kids would bully me and I would ignore it.

The next 3 days, that new girl came and sat next to me. I moved my chair a little bit on the right which made her move her chair to the right. I looked at her and she looked at me with a smile.

 

“Hi. Im Jessica Sooyeon Jung. Whats your name?” Jessica asked

 

“Im Kwon Yuri.” I said

 

“It’s nice to meet you, Yuri.”

 

“Its nice to meet you too, Jessica.”

 

“You know you should smile more because you wont make any friends here.”

 

“But I don’t want friends.” I said

 

“Well, you have one now.” She said smiling at me.

 

At recess, I was sitting on the top of the hill, drawing the clouds along with houses, birds, trees and etc. Then a group of kids came at me and said

 

“Look, you guys! Kwon Yuri is drawing!” A boy said as they were all laughing at me

 

Then a group of girls came to me and said

 

“Wow. That’s good.”

 

“I wish I can draw like that.”

I smiled at the girls and bowed to them, to excuse myself to another place while I ignore the other group of guys. I climb up the tree and draw whatever I see. Then a voice said from below me

 

“Yah. What are you doing up there, Yuri. Your gonna hurt yourself.” Jessica said

 

“It’s fine.” I said as I continue drawing

“*sigh* fine.” I said as I climb down the tree

We went under a tree, lied there and slept there. Every kid in school went inside the school while we were still outside sleeping. When the school bell ring, I slowly woke up because I knew that bell means school’s done. As I sat up, I saw Jessica cuddling next to me.

 

“Yah. Wake up… School is done.” I said nudging her

 

“Mmm. 5 more minutes mom…” She said as I chuckled at her silliness.

 

I walk inside the school to grab our backpacks and went back to her. I chuckled more because she’s still sleeping. I cover her with my sweater since I saw her curl up in a ball. I stay with her until she wakes up. I grab out my notebook and pencil and begin to draw the sun setting. About maybe 2 or 3 hours later, she woke up and rubbed her eyes.

 

“Mmm… Oh... I feel asleep.” She said

 

“Yes, you did,” I said as she was shock to see me.

“Actually, we both sleep out here until school ended so yea.” I said

“Ah... sure...” She said as we hold on to her hands

 

We made it across the street and she said

 

“Why, thank you, Yuri and Jessica. I hope you find the love of your life someday.”

“Yes, but he passed away.” She said

 

“Oh... We’re sorry about that.” Sica said

 

“It’s ok, little ones. I just wish you two find the perfect one to be. Well, you two should get home now, your parents may be getting worry.” She said

“Bye!” Sica said as I grab her hand and ran back home.

 

“Ah, kids… You two would be perfect together even though they’re both girls. I just know you two will be together” Halmeoni said smiling as she sees them running home.

 

After I week, I walk around town and saw halmeoni again

 

“Hi halmeoni.” I said

 

“Oh, hi. Where’s your friend?” She asked

 

“Oh... She’s busy today.”

 

“Oh.”

 

“Yea so halmeoni, I was wondering if you can tell me more about ‘find the love of your life.’” I asked

 

“Ah... Come with me and I’ll tell you.” She said as we walk to her house.

 

As we got in, we sat down in the dining room.

 

“So about this love of your life...you want to learn more about it?” She asked

 

“Yes…”

 

“Why?”

 

“Because I want to find the person I love in my life.” I said

 

“I see… well, this might be offended to you, but… I think you will be dating that girl you were with last time.” She said as I widened my eyes

 

“Jessica? But she’s a girl.” I said

 

“Yes, but it doesn’t mean you can’t a girl like her. Isn’t she special to you?” She asked

 

“Yes. She is, but I can’t date her halmeoni because she won’t be my friend anymore.”

 

“You can. You’re just afraid to ask her, Yuri. When you’re in high school, you'll know what I mean.” She said

 

“Ok. I’m going to leave now halmeoni. Bye!” I said as I left.

 

As I got home, I was thinking about what halmeoni said to me.

 

“Jessica Sooyeon Jung… The love of my life?” I said looking up in the ceiling

 

Then in high school, we meet Kim Taeyeon, Tiffany Hwang, Sunny, Sooyoung, Im Yoona, Seo Joo-hyun, Kim Hyoyeon and Nicole Jung. We all ended up having fun together until Sica have accepted Taecyeon as a boyfriend. I should have confessed before Taecyeon ask her out, but now it was too late. I should have listen halmeoni.

After I was done singing and I was done with my thoughts of the past, I heard someone clapping behind me. I turned around and saw Sica standing by the door. She came towards me and gave me a box of chocolates. I smiled and she smiled back.

 

“So... Why were you singing up here?” She asked

 

“Well, I was thinking about this girl that I was going to confess, but I don’t know if she’s gonna accept it.” I said as her face expression changed

 

‘Ha! She’s jealous!’

 

“... Yuri”

 

 I then quickly hug her

 

“You are beautiful. Don’t you ever forget that.”

 

‘You’re a beautiful person…I wanna kiss that beautiful lips of yours.’

 

“Thanks Yuri.” She said hugging me

 

‘*Sigh* It’s now or never’

 

“Well… I should tell you something, Jessica Sooyeon Jung.” I said as she looked at me while I took a few steps back

 

‘Come on, confession, be a successful one. Halmeoni, I think I’ll have to thank you for everything.’

 

“Jessica Sooyeon Jung, you, my best friend are a wonderful person. I love you ever since I first met you. I love you Jessica Sooyeon Jung. The song I sang to you was my confession to you when we were at my place. Like halmeoni said, we would find the love of our life and would be confessing to you, so I want you to be-“

 

I felt familiar lips on mine. Sica is kissing me, but why? I haven’t even finished my words yet. We broke the kiss and looked at each other eyes

 

“Why…”

 

“Because I love you and yes, I would like to be your girlfriend.” She said as I picked her up and spun her around and then kisses her lips one more time.

 

“But, why did you date Taecyeon and Donghae?” I asked

 

“That’s because I wanted to get this feeling for you away. I didn’t know what to do so I dated them but it didn’t work and in the end, I knew I would get heart broken by them. Then yesterday... I kinda heard you and the others talking.” She said as my eyes widened

“Yea. I knew you were gonna asked me out, but I didn’t know when.” She said blushed as I smiled
