Love Actually

Our Love Story Through A Melody (Hiatus)

Love  Actually « now playing: Love Actually by daybreak and sunny hill »

After hours of class time that seemed like it would never end, lunch came and Kaycee looked around the cafeteria for an open seat. She found a nice secluded table in the far corner of the cafeteria.

She set her lunch box down on the table and sat down. She took a look around the cafeteria and sighed when she didn't see any sign of pink hair anywhere. Quickly shaking her head, she started to eat, forcing herself to stop thinking of Kwangyeon. But of course, that didn't happen. The more she thought of him lead to her stuffing her face with more food.

"Excuse me?" someone tapped Kaycee on the shoulder.

Kaycee choked on the food in and quickly hit her chest hard several times. She grabbed a napkin and wiped the corner of and turned to the person who tapped her on her shoulder.

"My name is Suzy Bae. May I sit with you?" Suzy asked with a bright smile spread across her milky white face.

Kaycee studied the girl in front of her from her black blazer with the school logo on it, bright pink striped tie, pleated white button up shirt with a lace collar, black checkered skirt, white knee high socks, and black Mary Janes. She took a look at Suzy's flawless milky white skin and compared it to her own lightly tan skin color. Kaycee could feel whatever self confidence she had quickly sink down to the floor. Pursing her lips slightly, Kaycee nodded and gestured to the seat in from for her.

Suzy sat down across from Kaycee and leaned her elbows on the table and placed her head in her hands.

"I'm new here." Suzy said still smiling.

"I am too... " Kaycee said with a soft sight. "I haven't seen you around.."

"I know. I'm new. Like, really new. I just got here." Suzy said as she smiled even brighter. "Well, since you've been here longer than me-"

"Actually I just got here yesterda-"

"Have you seen anyone you're interested in?" Suzy said, paying no attention to whatever Kaycee was saying.

Kaycee felt her eye twitch slightly as she stared at the girl sitting in front of her. "No."

"Liar!"

Some students in the cafeteria turned to look at their table at Suzy's outburst. Kaycee gave them all an embarrassed smile. She glared at Suzy and kicked her shin hard.

"Ouchie!"

"You deserved it."

"Well you lied! Tell me! Tell me tell me tell me tell me tell me!"

Kaycee looked away from Suzy, embarrassed by the girl. Her eyes fell upon the figure of the person she was looking for earlier. Kwangyeon stood across the cafeteria with his hands in his pockets, looking around disinterestedly as Jason talked amongst his many fangirls. Kwangyeon's eyes shifted her way and their eyes met for a brief second. Quickly, Kwangyeon turned away, his face still not showing any emotion. It made Kaycee's heart sink. With a deep sigh, she turned back to Suzy.

"Ah, I see." Suzy nodded understandingly.

"What do you mean?" Kaycee asked confused.

"I won't step on your turf. No matter how cute he is." Suzy said as she stuck her tongue out jokingly.

"I still don't know what you mean." Kaycee said, playing dumb.

"Yeah yeah yeah, whatever. So who's his friend?" Suzy asked.

"Jason?" Kaycee asked incredulously. "Please tell me you don't have a thing for him."

"Him? The Casanova? Oh please. Not in a million years."

The two girls giggled as they finished their lunch.

After lunch, Kaycee helped lead Suzy through the mob of students flooding through the doorway of the cafeteria to get to the hallway.

"There's more than one door. I don't see why they choose this one." Kaycee said with an annoyed tone.

"I don't either" Suzy said as she clung onto the back of Kaycee's backpack.

"So what homeroom do you have? Mine is 4-9 A."

"Mine too!" Suzy exclaimed happily as she clung onto Kaycee's arm.

"I'll have to warn you.... Our class can get pretty rowdy when the teacher isn't around."

Cautiously, Kaycee opened the classroom door only to be met with a paper airplane to the face.

"See..." Kaycee sighed as she led Suzy through the groups of students to the center of the chalkboard. Kaycee opened to speak and try to get the attention of the class. She quickly shut and sighed as she studied the room around her. There was no way to possibly gain everyone's attention.

Suzy saw Kaycee's distress and nudged her arm gently with her elbow. She flashed Kaycee a smile before turning to the rest of the class.

"Annyeong everyone. I'm Suzy Bae. Please take care of me." Suzy said in a confident tone as she bowed.

The room instantly became quiet and the students greeted Suzy in unison.

Jason turned away from Youngjun who he was talking to earlier and stared at Suzy.

"Who's she?" Jason asked Youngjun.

"Weren't you just listening? She's the new student, Suzy Bae." Youngjun said as he smacked Jason on top of the head with his notebook. "Don't even try, Jason."

"What do you mean?" Jason asked with a smirk on his face, playing dumb. He watched as the other boys in the class miserably failed at gaining Suzy's attention. "Amateurs."

"Suzy-ah! You can sit by me!" one of the male students exclaimed as he cleared off everything from his friend's desk.

"No, Suzy-ah, sit by me!"

The male students started going into a frenzy as they argued on who got to sit by Suzy.

"If it's alright with you, I'd rather sit next to my friend." Suzy said as she clung onto Kaycee's arm tighter.

A series of "awwws" resonated within the room as Suzy sat in the desk next to Kaycee's.

"You just got here and you already have a lot of admirers...." Kaycee said in a hushed tone.

Suzy shrugged, "Think about it this way. Would you rather be admired by many people, or would you rather be admired by that one special person?"

Kaycee pondered over Suzy's words and peeked at Kwangyeon's figure through the corner of her eye. He was currently sitting on Kyumin's desk playing a game on his phone while Kyumin texted whoever. Kaycee watched Kwangyeon's eyebrows furrow and his bottom lip pop out slightly into a small pout. She guessed that he probably died in his game. Nevertheless, his adorable features couldn't help but bring a smile to her face.

"Exactly." Suzy said with a soft smile as she nudged Kaycee playfully.

"Hello there ladies." Jason interrupted as he sat on Suzy's desk. Suzy could feel her eye twitch slightly.

"My name is Hanbyul Jang, but my friends call me Jason." He said as he flashed Suzy a stunning wink.

In return, Suzy gave him a smile that clearly showed her discomfort. "Hanbyul-ssi, could you please get off of my desk? And you interrupted my conversation with my friend."

Jason mumbled a quick "miahne" and quickly went back to his desk with his cheeks flushed. When he got back to his desk, he found Hyoseok and Youngjun snickering.

"I told you not to try anything with her." Youngjun said with a chuckle.

"Hyung's finally met his match." Hyoseok snickered. as he wiped the tears coming from the corner of his eyes due to his excessive laughing.

"Yah, Kwangyeon! Tell your girlfriend to introduce me to Suzy!" Jason whined.

"Not my girlfriend." Kwangyeon said indifferently as he tapped away at his phone.

"Please! Please, please, please, please, please. please!" Jason begged as he shook Kwangyeon by his shoulders.

Kwangyeon's bottom lip popped out even more as he watched the little blue bird on the screen hit the green pipe above it and fall to its doom. He sighed as he saw the score he got compared to his best score. He would get Jason back for it later.

"Fine." Kwangyeon said tersely as he shoved his phone into his pocket.

"Chinja? Thanks buddy." Jason said with a bright smile as he patted Kwangyeon on the shoulder.

Just then, the teacher walked back into the classroom and the students quickly scampered to their seats. With a heavy sigh, Kwangyeon turned his attention to the window as he drowned out the voices of the rest of the world.

After classes ended, Kaycee and Suzy bundled up in warm clothing to face the bitter cold on their way home. Kaycee slipped on her grey beanie, black knit scarf, and her black gloves. Suzy slipped on her pink knit hat with cat ears poking out from the top, her white knit infinity scarf, and her white gloves.

"I need to get something from the orchestra before we go. Do you mind?" Kaycee asked as she swung her backpack over her shoulder.

"But the orchestra room is all the way on the other side of the building!" Suzy whined. Kacee shot her a glare at made her stop her whining instantly.

"Fine fine.... I'll come with you. Just be glad I didn't wear heels today."

Together, the two journeyed to the orchestra room. Kaycee led Suzy down a multitude of hallways and down wings she didn't know existed.

"These aren't homerooms are they?" Suzy asked.

Kaycee shook her head. "No, they're classrooms for electives."

Suzy nodded. "So I'm guessing you're in orchestra?"

"Wow, nothing gets past you."

"... Well no need to be so sarcastic about it."

The two giggled as they finally reached their destination.

Suzy followed Kaycee into the orchestra room, dodging the harps and cellos and pianos that were covered with white cloth.Kaycee skillfully weaved her way through the maze of large instruments as she approached the instrument lockers.

"So what instrument do you play?" Suzy asked Kaycee.

Kaycee turned the knob on her lock and pulled out her violin. "Guess."

"Viola!" Suzy said with full confidence. When she saw the indifferent look on Kaycee's face, she cleared in embarrassment. "Haha, just kidding. Psh, it's a violin. I knew that from the very beginning."

"Mhm, yeah sure."

Carefully, the two made their way out of the orchestra room and into the hallway.

"Do you hear that?" Suzy asked.

"Hear what?"

Suzy grabbed Kaycee's arm and pulled her towards the band practice room and the two peeked through the slightly tinted windows.

"So he sings..." Suzy mumbled softly as she saw Jason's slightly blurred out figure holding a microphone.

"Do you like guys that can sing?" Kaycee asked Suzy as she leaned against the wall.

Suzy shrugged. "I prefer guys that can dance."

The two giggled and continued their way down the hall.

"Oh no!" Suzy exclaimed as she felt the inside of her blazer pockets, "I left my phone inside the classroom!"

"It's okay. We can go get it. Hopefully it's still in the room." Kaycee reassured.

The two hurried back to their classroom. Suzy sighed in relief when she saw the pink Hello Kitty phone case still on her desk.

"I told you it would be fine." Kaycee said as she followed Suzy to her desk.

"Yeah yeah yeah." Suzy waved her off as she checked her phone for any messages. Kaycee rolled her eyes and scanned the empty classroom. She spotted Kwangyeon's backpack leaning against the side of his desk.

Suzy skipped over to Kaycee after she answered all of her messages. She followed where Kaycee was looking and tilted her head slightly. "Maybe he forgot it?" She asked.

Kaycee shrugged her shoulders and knelt down beside Kwangyeon's backpack.

"Do you have any sticky notes?" She asked as she turned to Suzy.

"Practice was great today guys! You all did great"

Youngjun, Kwangyeon, Hyoseok, and Kyumin grabbed the sheets that they used to cover their instruments and threw them onto Jason.

"It was horrible."

"You're being stupider than usual."

"You shouldn't lie."

"Lying is bad, hyung."

"Come on guys! Sure, notes might have been missed and sure Kyumin might have accidentally tripped over Hyoseok's drum set and sure Hyoseok might have thrown a hissy fit and threw his drumstick at Youngjun's speaker and-"

Youngjun, Kwangyeon, Hyoseok, and Kyumin left Jason to his rambling underneath the white sheets.

"Should we just leave him here?" Kyumin asked his hyungs.

"....Yeah."

With that, Youngjun, Hyoseok, and Kyumin left. Kwangyeon stayed and leaned against the doorway of the practice room. Jason continued to ramble on to his non-existent audience. With a soft chuckle, Kwangyeon flicked the lights off and left the room.

Jason paused his speech for a brief moment and pulled the sheets off of his head.

"Guys?" Jason asked bewildered as he looked around the dark room for his friends.

As Kwangyeon walked down the hall, he heard an angry shout come from the practice room. He chuckled to himself softly. "Told you I would get you back."

With that said, Kwangyeon continued on his way. Furrowing his eyebrows, he felt his shoulders. When he didn't feel the straps of his backpack, he mentally kicked himself. He forgot his backpack in the classroom.

Sighing, Kwangyeon turned and quickly walked towards room 4-9 A. He walked down the rows of desks until he saw his backpack. He tilted his head slightly when he saw a black knit scarf on top of his desk. Beside the scarf, he saw a bright pink sticky note.

Stay warm.
XOXO, Kaycee

Furrowing his eyebrows, Kwangyeon stared at the black ink scribbled onto the bright pink sticky note.

"More English.... Great..." Kwangyeon thought unhappily as he stared at the XOXO

He sighed and took the black knit scarf in his hands . He the surface of the wool, feeling its softness. Carefully, he wrapped the black scarf around his neck. He picked up his backpack and started his journey outside through the cold winter evening.
