EXO Hell Part 1

K-Pocalypse

Of the more than sixty soldiers assigned as guards to protect the entrances around the stadium, only a handful had reported for duty. The others had all snuck onto the field to see the concert. The soldiers who had abandoned their posts had each felt that one less guard wouldn’t make much of a difference, but they hadn’t considered that others would feel the same, and that, as a result, the majority of the stadium entrances would be left unguarded.

There were fences blocking some of the entrances, but the fences had weak points and could easily be overrun if enough zombies pushed their weight against them.

And as it turned out, that’s exactly what happened.

The noise of the concert, between the screaming crowds and the music piped through the speakers, had drawn the attention of the zombies on the streets and in the parks that surrounded the stadium. The wretched creatures had all turned in the direction of the noise, and by the time they neared the stadium, they had amassed into a gory horde.

To make things worse, a small band of injured survivors had been desperately trying to reach the stadium on foot, having heard of the rescue center there, and for the last mile of their journey, they had accumulated their own horde of zombies following them, inadvertently leading those flesh-eaters directly to the stadium.

Those survivors were the six members of EXO-K.

Suho, the leader, was carrying the maknae, Sehun, who had been bitten and was unconscious. Kai, meanwhile, was holding up the weight of Baekhyun on one side of him and Chanyeol on the other side, trying to drag them both to safety. Both Baekhyun and Chanyeol had also been bitten, and every now and then, they would lose consciousness and would fall, and Kai would have to reach around and pull them back up to their feet as he pushed them onward. Lagging behind the group was D.O., who had sprained his ankle a block or so back. He was trying hard to keep up with the others but his attention was divided between his friends in front of him and the mob of putrid zombies behind him.

The EXO boys had expected to find safety at the stadium. They had expected that their fallen brothers would be taken care of, possibly even cured of the zombie infection.

They had not expected that their arrival would coincide with the arrival of hundreds of surrounding zombies, not to mention the large horde that had been following their group. This unlucky timing would lead to the demise of nearly everyone at that stadium.

The zombies had already penetrated the southern and western ends of the stadium, overwhelming the fences and the few soldiers stationed there. They grunted and staggered through the dark interior of the stadium, mindlessly in search of live bodies. Anne had managed that one call for help through the radio but she and the counselor, Rae, were quickly outnumbered and consumed by the decaying ghouls.

The armory guard, Rina, had heard the screaming and had since grabbed a K2 assault rifle from the arsenal. She found a few boxes of .223 Remington cartridges but knew that the K2 would be more powerful with 5.56 NATO; however, her search for this particular type of ammunition was cut short when she heard guttural moans nearing her door. Settling for the Remington bullets, she loaded the rifle and pocketed a small pistol, too, as she made her way out of the office-turned-armory.

Because the zombies walked slowly, they were easy to target, and Rina quickly took down the five or six that had found their way into the Home Plus store. She left the store now, walking carefully through the dark passageways in the stadium’s interior.

The particular passageway that she was in seemed empty. But when she turned the corner, she found herself facing a swarm of wall-to-wall zombies, their soulless eyes widening at the sight of her. Rina took a few steps back and then ran for the nearest entrance to the field, not knowing that even more zombies had already found their way out onto that sunlit grass.

After Heechul had heard his fiancée’s desperate plea for help, he had run through the concert crowd and down the rows of nearby cots toward one of the entrances to the interior. But the hundreds of cots had blocked his view of the zombies that had made their way onto the field and he was soon surrounded and overtaken.

Everyone rows away at the concert area heard the blood-curdling scream that Heechul let out at that moment and were now frantically scattering in all directions. The soldiers in the crowd had their weapons butted against their shoulders, ready to fire, but they still didn’t see anything to fire at. All they saw were scared people running amok, and so they all began spreading out in their search only to find out, just as Heechul had, that the danger was everywhere, lurking up and down the nearby rows, hidden behind and between the cots, and coming from all directions.

Jae Suk was standing with his wife, Kyung Eun, their boy, Ji Ho, and the girl he had met the other day, Eunmi, with whom he had shared so much laughter after taking off his glasses and baring his “” face. But Eunmi’s face showed no sign of her humorous personality now. Her face was white with fright. Hearing the sporadic machine gun fire and seeing the panic, Eunmi suddenly ran off. Jae Suk picked up his boy and grabbed his wife’s hand. “We need to get out of here!” he yelled. And then he saw Kwang Soo standing with his mouth agape in the center of the confusion. “Kwang Soo-yah!” Jae Suk yelled. “Run!”

Kwang Soo looked down at Kim Clevi, his new friend, and grabbed her hand, but he didn’t know which way to go or what to do. Everyone was aimlessly running around him. But just as he made up his mind to just start running with the rest of them and turned to do just that, he found himself face-to-face with a hideous zombie, which was so close that Kwang Soo could smell its rancid breath and see its broken, jagged teeth.

Kim Clevi let go of Kwang Soo’s hand at that moment and pushed him out of harm’s way, but the zombie then attacked her instead, biting right into her cheek and pulling the flesh from her face as blood dribbled down its chin.

Kwang Soo had fallen to the grass from Kim Clevi’s push and now looked on in shock as she was eaten right in front of him.

Jong Kook ran by at that moment, holding little Dream in his arms as the poor baby screamed. Ji Hyo and Byul were running behind Jong Kook. When they saw Kwang Soo, they yelled for him to get up. Byul reached down for his arm, but Kwang Soo was still in shock and couldn’t move.

“Yah, Kwang Soo-yah!” Jong Kook yelled. “Get up!”

But just then, the zombie that had gnawed on Kim Clevi’s face reached over to Kwang Soo’s bare calf and took a chomp out of that, too. At the same time, another zombie attacked Byul from the back, pulling her into its clutches.

Jong Kook’s mouth fell open as he saw Byul fall to the ground under the weight of that walking corpse, which was now gnawing at her flesh until she was an unbreathing bloody mess. And then he looked just beside her to see Kwang Soo scream out in pain at his leg being eaten. Jong Kook felt helpless, not only because he was carrying the baby, but also because he was unarmed. But more than that, he felt helpless because he knew that it was too late for either Byul or Kwang Soo to be saved. The zombies had marked their death the moment they bit them, infecting them with whatever virus they were carrying.

Kwang Soo managed to kick himself free and stand on his mangled leg, but he sadly knew what Jong Kook had already realized – that it was only a matter of time before he became one of the undead.

Jong Kook quickly shifted the baby in his arms so that he could hold Dream in one hand and grab Ji Hyo with the other. “We need to go,” he said, the tears streaming from his face.

G.O., Lee Joon, Thunder, and Mir had been watching the horror unfold from the stage. They had taken a few steps back just out of sheer reaction, but, like Kwang Soo had been, they were paralyzed by their fear. From the looks of it, there was no way out. The zombies were everywhere.

The Big Bang boys jumped atop the stage at that moment.

“Where are the girls?” G-Dragon yelled.

But G.O. and the others were too startled to speak.

G-Dragon ran up to Thunder and grabbed him by the shoulders. “Where’s your sister?”

Thunder seemed to snap out of it and then shook his head. “I… I don’t know,” he said.

G-Dragon grabbed him by the arm and then ran across the stage to the other side.

“Wait up!” T.O.P. yelled, running after them.

Just after T.O.P. ran off, a zombie who had crawled onto the back of the stage lurched forward at G.O. and pulled him down. Three other zombies with blood-rimmed eyes and flayed skin now stumbled onto the stage, leaving Daesung, Seungri, Lee Joon, and Mir no choice but to abandon G.O. and run in the opposite direction that G-Dragon, T.O.P. and Thunder had run.

The four boys became separated in the crowd. Daesung and Lee Joon had fallen from the stage and were nearly trampled by those running berserk, but the girl that Daesung had met earlier, Dani Jae, who had called Big Bang warriors, came out of nowhere and helped both Daesung and Lee Joon to their feet.

“Are you two okay?” she asked. When Daesung and Lee Joon speechlessly nodded, Dani Jae then left to continue fighting her way through the zombies.

Seungri and Mir, meanwhile, had run through the rows and, finding no way out of this nightmare, decided to dive under the cots. Seungri lay flat on the grass, making sure that no part of him stuck out from underneath the bed. He turned his head to see Mir lying below the cot next to his, both of them only able to see the feet of those running past, followed by the more shambling steps of the zombies. Seungri squeezed his eyes closed, breathed in the earthy smell of the ground near his face, and prayed.

The 2ne1 girls had been running up and down the rows, trying to find their way out of the maze of cots, but each way they tried was blocked by zombies.

“We need to get one of those guns,” CL said, as she pulled Dara toward one of the half-eaten soldiers lying on the ground. She kneeled beside the mutilated body to reach for its pistol, and as she did, she heard a noise coming from the cot next to her. CL ducked down to see Seungri crawling out from the shadow underneath the cot, and for a moment she panicked, thinking that he was a zombie, but as Seungri moved into the sunlight, she could see his sweet face and knew that he was okay. “Hurry,” she said, urging him out.

Seungri got out but then kneeled down beside the other cot to get Mir. “Come on,” he said. “We have to get out of here!”

But Mir shook his head. “I’m not going anywhere,” he said. “It’s safe under here.”

“Safe?” Seungri pulled at him now. “In an hour or two, everyone here will be zombies. How are you going to get out then?”

The girls were now beckoning Mir out, too, all getting impatient, knowing that they couldn’t stay in one spot for too long.

“Come on!” Dara yelled. “Let’s go!”

Mir finally acquiesced and, with Seungri’s help, slid out from underneath the cot.

CL, with the pistol she had grabbed from the soldier’s body, stood guard as Mir joined their small group in the middle of that row. When everyone was together, CL turned to glance back at them, seeing Seungri, Mir, Dara, Bom… but then she realized that Minzy wasn’t there. “Where’s Minji-yah!?” CL yelled.

Minzy had been following the other girls, but as they ran past one particular row, she had caught sight of Daesung’s sister, Bora, being hounded by a trio of bloody zombies. She made a quick decision to leave her group and go help Bora, but by the time she got there, Bora had already been bitten. Minzy used herself as bait to get the zombies away from her. She led them up the row and then quickly circled around the cots and followed the row back down to return to Bora’s body.

Bora was lying on the ground, gushing out blood from her wounds, her gurgling voice bubbling out as she said, “Please… please find my brother.”

Minzy looked down at her, trying not to cry. “I will,” she said. “I promise.”

Bora was gone. Minzy reached for the gun that Bora had dropped when under attack and then aimed it at Bora’s head. She knew she had to do it. If she didn’t shoot her, Bora would return as a zombie. Minzy squeezed her eyes closed now and pulled the trigger.

She then stood and turned around, only now opening her eyes. And when she did, she saw G-Dragon, T.O.P., and Thunder standing there, all with mouths agape as they stared at Minzy with that pistol in her hands.
