Chunji arrived at the café. The entire upper floor was reserved for Choi Subin’s birthday party. He went up the stairs and showed the waiter his invitation. The waiter nodded and let him enter.

“Hey, Chunji!” His friends waved. He smiled, “Hey.”

Subin turned around and beamed, “Chunji!” She ran over and threw her arms around his neck. “I missed you! Where were you?”

“I was buying your birthday present.” Chunji smoothly lied.

Subin beamed but her smile turned a bit confused. A floral scent was coming from his jacket. She pulled back in confusion. “Did you put on perfume?”

“Perfume?” Chunji blinked.

“Yeah…you smell like a girl’s perfume.” Subin looked at him.

Chunji smiled, “Of course I would.” “What?!” Subin yelled in outrage.

Chunji pulled out a box from behind him. “Because that’s what I got you for your birthday.”

Instantly, Subin forgot about her anger. She opened the box and her eyes glittered. “Perfume!” Subin pulled out the fancy lavender bottle and sprayed some in the air. She smelled it and smiled. “I love it!”

“I knew you would.” Chunji smiled.

“Thank you.” Subin wrapped an arm around his waist and kissed his cheek. She pulled back and paused. There was a faint glitter on his bottom lip. *Is that…lip gloss?* Before she could ask, his friends came over.

“Hey! You made it!” They shook hands with him.

“We thought you ditched the party.” Niel chuckled.

“No way.” Chunji smiled and wrapped his arm around Subin’s shoulder, “I wouldn’t miss my girl’s party for the world.” She beamed up at him. All her suspicion faded away just like that.

“Come and meet my friends!” Subin tugged on his hand. She had waited all night to show her boyfriend off.

Chunji was polite and charming, as always. He laughed at the right times and showed affection when Subin needed it.

But something was missing. His mind kept wandering off. All he could do was look at his phone and wonder if you were asleep yet.
