Meet Yang Dae Ji, otherwise known as the spunky Daisy Yang. Born in Los Angeles, Dae Ji was exposed to the interesting cultures and mixing pot of fashion as she grew up. With a butchered memory of how she traveled to the US, Yang Dae Ji grew up without parents but with a positive mindset about life. Though she is Korean by blood, she is an American girl through and through. Loud and crazy as her friends describe her, Yang Dae Ji was more of a typical American than a typical Asian.
Following her dreams of becoming a world class designer, Yang Dae Ji takes a risk and returns to her home nation to attend the most prestigious fashion school in the world. However, returning home is not as easy as it seems. Yang Dae Ji, who was loved by all back in the US to the A, finds herself like a fish out of water in the strict and traditional society of South Korea. And not to mention that her visit back home brings back strange flashes of the childhood she never remembered.
Meet Kim Jong In, otherwise known as Kai to strangers and most. Born with a silver spoon in his mouth, Kim Jong In was the type of guy who got his way no matter what. The looks, the money, the cars, the girls, you name it and he has it. Though troublesome by nature and flirty with the girls, Kai’s “perfect” life also had major imperfections that the public (namely the press) didn’t have to know. A mentally unstable father, a philandering mother, a company on the brink of bankruptcy, and his own health issues prove to be a lot for the seemingly “perfect” Kai.
Starting with a mini dare that sparked Yang Dae Ji’s fury, two worlds collide unexpectedly. Dae Ji finds herself falling deeper into the imperfect life of Kim Jong In while Kim Jong In starts to grow attracted to Dae Ji’s 4D personality.
A story about language barriers, culture shocks, heated competition, following one’s dreams, and falling in love, ‘Made in America’ tells the love story between one typical girl and one “perfect” boy.
“Don’t you like to party and twerk around?”
“Hey, you meanie, don’t stereotype us Americans!”
