“I love you enough to let you go...”

“Yah, Kim Jongin!” Seohyun stormed out from the passenger seat, running straight towards her best friend.

Jongin glanced around, smirking at her for a second before he looked ahead – far to the middle of the streaming river in front of them. He inhaled deeply, it was peaceful here.

“Yah, what are you doing huh?” his body flinched a bit, swaying forward when he felt Seohyun dropped her body against his back and she laughed playfully as she s her hands around his neck, hugging him from behind.

He closed his eyes, savoring the comforting warmth she gave him – warmth that reached his heart to melt the frozen ice hidden in there. Yes, the coldness that was long buried in his soul – the one that he knew no one other can heal it excepts her.

“Seohyun ah...” he gently uttered her name and the girl tilted her head to a side, eyeing him from the corner of her eyes. Then she smiled.

“Waeyo, Jongin sshi?” she sang his name that she loved the most and pasted their cheeks side by side together. Jongin sighed but he reached up and patted Seohyun against her silky smooth hair.

“You should really stop calling me ‘Jongin’...I’m a professional photographer now...my name goes by Kai...the whole nation knows it...” he corrected her, chuckling a bit but Seohyun pouted and shook her head in disapproval.

“No, I can’t...maybe the whole world knew you as Kai...but I’m Seohyun, your childhood best friend and I only know you as Kim Jongin...forever...” she told him firmly and tightened the grip of her arms around his neck, feeling like she has never wanted to let him go again.

Jongin fell silent, thinking about her words until at last he laughed as well. “Okay...it’s up to you then...I know that I’ll forever be your best friend, your Kim Jongin...”

“Yeah, that’s right! Good!” Seohyun raised up a thumb in front of their faces and the two broke out laughing in unison.

“Seohyun ah, I want to let go of Joohyun...” he suddenly told her after the laughter gone. Seohyun automatically let him go and she landed a smack on his back instead, causing Jongin to yelp in pain.

“Ouch! Yah!” he glared at her but Seohyun shot him a scarier glare. “Stop naming that thing as my name! It’s not cute at all!”

She complained but Jongin shrugged and got on his feet.

“I don’t know...but somehow my bird loves you too...she responded obediently whenever I called her ‘Joohyun’...” Seohyun trailed her dissatisfied eyes all along Jongin was explaining to her about his pet and he paced back towards his car before he pulled open the door of the backseat.

“Here she is! Joohyun!” Jongin laughed aloud, pulling out a small white colored bird cage before he held it high towards Seohyun so that she could see the bird inside.

“Aish...aigoo...” she pouted but standing up and walking as well to approach the cage. Seohyun stopped facing it, bending down her body and she observed the small brownish sparrow kept inside it. A smile slowly curving up on her lips.

“Aigoo, aigoo...what a cute little sparrow...how can you name it as Joohyun huh? She looks nothing like me!” Seohyun commented, stealing a glance up to Jongin but her friend laughed again. His eyes fixed on the bird.

“Maybe because whenever I saw this sparrow, she somehow reminds me of you...that’s why I decided to name her as your middle name, Joohyun...” he answered while putting down the cage on the ground and scooped Joohyun in his palms, taking her out from her house.

Seohyun smiled even broader when Jongin brought it closer to her and they stood side by side as Jongin the small bird gently against its brownish soft fur. Seohyun trailed her fingertips slowly on top of its head but Joohyun simply gazed up to her through its darkish eyes, causing Seohyun to laugh a bit.

“I’ve never seen a sparrow so tame like this...” Jongin nodded his head in agreement but he let out a long sigh.

“Joohyun has been my company for quite a long time...she has always be by my side and staying close to me...I finally realize that she deserves to live on her own now...” Seohyun looked up to him when he told her so.

She frowned. “Why?”

“...now that I’m back in Korea again...so it’s time to let her go...”

“But...I thought you love her so much...I thought she’s your precious pet...” Seohyun stared on his face with confusion as her own expression but Jongin laughed, nodding his head.

“Yeah...I love her...I love Joohyun...I love her enough to let her go...” even before Seohyun could stop him, Jongin jumped on his feet and he instantly set the sparrow free from his palms.

“Yah...yah!” Seohyun called out in shock, trying to catch his hands but the bird already flew up, higher to the sky before it disappeared between the clouds above. Jongin smiled and waved his hands.

“Bye, Joohyun ah! I set you free now!” Seohyun pouted but she studied his side face closely. Though she knew that Jongin was smiling widely in front of her, she still could see the pain reflected in his eyes when he let the sparrow go just now. She knew that Jongin would feel lonely without the bird.

“Jongin ah...” she touched his shoulder but Jongin looked down to her again and winked.

“Let me see your ring...” he requested as he removed her hand from his shoulder and squeezed Seohyun on their entwined hands. Jongin giggled a bit as he stared upon the sparkling diamond which securely wrapped around her finger there.

“You’re really married huh?” an eyebrow involuntarily twitched up when he questioned her such a stupid question. Didn’t he just attend her wedding yesterday?

He sighed, rubbing her wedding ring slowly before Jongin peered up to Seohyun and read her beautiful face long enough. They kept on staring upon each other, trying to understand their own thoughts but unfortunately, none of them have the ability to understand people’s mind or heart.

What a shame, if only they could do so. If only...

At last, Jongin slowly formed a sweet smile on his face and Seohyun felt he shook her hand that he held just now.
